The FederalCommunications Commission (FCC) hasestablishedrules that permit this device to be
directly connected to the telephone network. Standardized jacks are use for these connections. This
equipment should not be used on party lines or coin-operated lines.
If this deviceismalfunctioning, it may also causeharm to thephone network;this device should bedis-
connecteduntil thesource of the problemcan be determinedandrepair hasbeen made. Ifthis isnot done,
the telephone company maytemporarily disconnect service.
The telephone company may make changesin itstechnical operations and procedures; if such changes
affect the compatibility or use of this device, the telephone companyisrequired to give adequate notice
of the changes.
If the telephone company requests information on whatequipment is connectedto their lines, inform
themofthe following:
●The telephone number to whichthe equipment is connected.
●The ringer equivalence number: 0.6B (indicated on the label).
●The USOC jackrequired: RJ45.
●The FCC registrationnumber (indicatedonthe label).
The ringer equivalence number (REN) isused to determine how manydevices canbe connected toyour
telephone line. In most areas, the sum of the RENs of all devices onany one line shouldnot exceed 5.0.
If too manydevicesare attached, they may notring properly.
In the event of equipmentmalfunction, allrepairs shouldbe performed by CabletronSystemsInc. or an
authorizedagent. It is the responsibility of user requiring service to reportthe need for service to
