SPECIFIC INFORMATION
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Use
This product is made to be used as an energy absorber in via ferrata systems by users with a total weight between 40 kg
(excluding equipment) and 120 kg (including equipment). The distance of a free fall must not be higher than 5 meters, in
order to keep a shock force of less than 350 daN (≈ 350 kg) for a person weighing 40 kg, and less than 600 daN (≈ 600 kg)
for a person weighing 120 kg according to EN 958:2017 standard (fig.1).
Harness attachment: This product can be used with a full-body or sit harness. If the user is carrying a heavy rucksack, the
use of full-body harness is recommended. As an example only, we illustrate how to bind the attachment loop [2] to a
harness (fig.2), but we advise you to consult the usage instructions for your harness for precise instructions on how the
sling should pass through the point of juncture.
Attention: Incorrect passage of the sling can cause the harness to fail in the case of a fall.
Progression: Illustrations from 3 to 6 show the correct way to use this product.
WARNING: If one of the carabiners or one of the lanyards (fig.8) is clipped to the harness or to the attachment loop to the
harness [2], the energy absorber [1] will not function: danger of death. Do not tie knots on the lanyard [4]. Do not insert
your head between the two lanyards [4]: risk of strangulation.
During the progression, systematically check that the gate of the carabiners are securely locked. Respect the indications
for use of the carabiner. The case of the energy absorber [1] must remain closed. For users weighing less than 40 kg (total
weight excluding equipment) and more than 120 kg (total weight including equipment), we recommend rope progression:
in this case, it is necessary for the user to know the techniques of rope progression.
Falling: in the event of a fall, if the yellow warning label sewn on the webbing comes out of the case of the energy absorber
[1] and is visible (fig.9) the via ferrata set must be put out of service immediately. To complete the via ferrata safely, use
another set or tie in with a roped party.
Carabiners: carabiners must be used as shown in chart A and fig.5-6. For Kinetic, the assembling of O-Ring rubbers is
shown in fig.7. Warning: certain situations may reduce the strength of the carabiners (fig.6b).

in this case, it is necessary for the user to know the techniques of rope progression.

16 17
CHECKING
Check that the energy absorber [1] is in its original configuration as indicated in fig.9.
During use, avoid contact of the sling with sharp edges to avoid the breaking strength decreasing or cuts. Humidity,
intense cold, exposure to UV rays, and the aging due to use can reduce the resistance of the sling.
A carabiner looses half of its resistance when the gate is open (see chart A). It is recommended to check that the gate is
properly working before use:
Ÿif the gate [8] does not come back properly when closing. During the inspection, the gate [8] should be released slowly
in order to nullify the spring action.
Ÿwrong or incomplete functioning of the gate closing system [8]. Never use a carabiner if it is just partially blocked. The
automatic closing must be carried out completely, without any external aid. In certain environments, contaminants
(mud, sand, paint, ice, dirty water, etc.) can prevent the automatic locking system from working.
If one of the defects appears, after cleaning, oil the gate mechanism with a silicon based lubricant. Note: cleaning and
lubrication is recommended after every use in marine environment. If, after oiling, the defect persists, the carabiner has to
be put out of use.
REVISION
In addition to the normal inspection required before, during and after each use, this product must be inspected by a skilled
person at least every 12 months, starting from date the product is first used; this date and the subsequent checks must be
recorded on the product's life sheet: keep this literature for inspection and reference for the life of the device. Check the
legibility of the product's markings.
In case of one of the following defects are present, the Set ferrata should be withdrawn from service immediately:
Ÿpresence of cutting and/or burning on the sling
Ÿpresence of cutting and/or burning on the seams
Ÿdeployment of the energy absorber [1] (fig.9)
In case of one of the following defects are present, the carabiner should be withdrawn from service immediately:
Ÿdeep corrosion that seriously alters the steel surface (which does not disappear after a light rubbing with glass paper)
Ÿplay or exit of the rivet from the gate [8] of the carabiner
Ÿincorrect placement of the gate [8] on the carabiner body [7]
Ÿplay or exit of the rotation axis of the fate [10]
Ÿgeneral wear and tear of the body [7] which causes a significant reduction of the body section, which is deeper than
1mm.
Ÿpresence of cracks particularly on the rotation axis of the fate [10].
Any product or component showing any defect or wear, or if in doubt, should be withdrawn from service immediately. Each
product in the safety system can be damaged during a fall and must be always inspected before use it again. Do not
continue to use a product after a major fall because a damage may have occurred, even no external signs are visible.
LIFETIME
Textile part: The lifetime of the product is 10 years from the date the product is first used and (taking storage into
consideration) in any case cannot exceed the end of the twelfth year from manufacturing (i.e. manufacture year 2017,
lifetime until end of 2029, or 10 year from the date of first use, whichever comes first). The lifetime is understood to be in
the absence of causes which would place the product out of order with the condition that periodic inspections are carried
out at least once every 12 months starting from the date the product is first used and the results are recorded on the life
sheet of the product.
Carabiners: The lifetime of the product is unlimited, unless any defect appears and provided that periodic inspections are
made at least once every 12 months from the date the product is first used and the results are recorded in the life sheet of
the product.
Textile part and carabiners: The following factors can reduce the lifetime of the product: intense use, damage to
components of the product, contact with chemical substances, high temperatures, tears and abrasions, violent impacts,
failure to maintain as recommended. When suspect that the product is no more safety and reliable, please contact
C.A.M.P. spa or the distributor.
TRANSPORTATION Protect the product from risks such as those detailed above.

INFORMAZIONI SPECIFICHE
ISTRUZIONI D'USO
Uso
in cordata.
5-6. Per il Kinetic, l'assemblaggio
dell'O-Ring è descritto in fig.7.
