This “Operation Guide” explains the camera settings and operations. Read this document carefully before using the camera
to ensure correct use.

Precautions for Use (Disclaimer)
Installation and Lightning Protection
For installing cameras, installation of a lightning arrester (a surge protection device) is strongly recommended as a
measure against failures caused by lightning strikes.
Network Security
The user is responsible for the network security of this product and its use.
Take appropriate network security measures to avoid security breaches. To the full extent permitted by laws and
regulations, neither Canon Inc. nor any of its subsidiaries or affiliates shall be liable for any losses, direct, incidental
or consequential damages, or liabilities that may be incurred as a result of network security incidents such as
unauthorized accesses.
<Network Security Recommendations>
• Set the administrator password that should not be easily guessed by third parties.
• Change the HTTP or HTTPS port number of the camera.
• Limit access to the camera by network devices.
CMOS Sensor
When shooting a fast-moving subject with a network camera or when the angle of view changes during shooting, the
subject may happen to look bent diagonally.
This is a phenomenon that occurs when the CMOS image sensor is used, and this is not a malfunction of the network
camera.
Built-In Camera Functions
Do not use the following built-in camera functions in situations requiring high reliability:
• Intelligent Function
• Image Stabilization Function
These do not guarantee high-precision capture and cannot support applications beyond their intended range of use.
Canon will assume no liability for any accident or damage resulting from the use of these functions or software.
Introduction
Caution
Request a professional installer for all installation work. Never try to install the camera yourself. Doing so may result
in unforeseen accidents such as dropping the camera or electric shock.

Camera functions and the software to be used, and the operating environment are explained in this chapter.
It also describes the flow from preparation and setup through to actual use.

A network camera not only enables to operate the camera, but also allows to record and upload the video, and perform
monitoring using the various intelligent functions of the camera.
However, the functions that can be used differ depending on the model. Refer to the table below for the differences in
functions depending on the model.

The following software is available for efficiently configuring and operating the camera.
Camera Operations and Settings
Camera operations are performed using the Camera Viewer/Mobile Camera Viewer.
Camera settings are specified from the Settings page.
Camera Viewer (P. 26) /Mobile Camera Viewer
Controls the camera, and monitors video and various events.
There are two types of viewers; Camera Viewer (mainly for computers) and the Mobile Camera Viewer (mainly for
devices with a screen size of 7 inches or less).
The functions available in the Viewer differ according to the user privilege (P. 28).

Settings Page (P. 52)
The Settings page is for the administrator to configure and manage the camera.
Software to Install on the Computer
The following software can be installed on the computer to be used.
Camera Management Tool
This tool is used for batch managing multiple cameras, from initial settings to performing maintenance. The Camera
Management Tool can perform the following tasks.
• Detecting cameras
• Various camera settings
• Displaying the Viewer and the Settings page
• Updating firmware, back up/restoring settings, performing memory card and other operations, as well as camera
maintenance.
For details on uses and functions, refer to “Camera Management Tool User Manual”.
The Camera Management Tool can be installed from the installer.
Installer name: VBToolsInstall.exe
Recorded Video Utility
This utility is used for viewing and managing the videos recorded on the memory card mounted in the camera. The
Recorded Video Utility enables to perform the following settings/operations on recorded videos.
• Displaying a list of videos
• Playing and deleting videos
• Downloading videos to a computer
For details on uses and functions, refer to “Recorded Video Utility User Manual”.

Additional Licenses (Sold Separately)
Purchase additional software and licenses as necessary.
H.264/H.265 Additional User License AUL-VB 2
Additional license for viewing H.264/H.265 video with multiple computers via the Viewer or Recorded Video Utility.
Each camera includes one license. Additional licenses are necessary for multiple computers to view H.264/H.265
video from a single camera.

To prepare the camera for use, install the necessary software on the computer, and configure the initial
settings for web browser security and the camera.

The following software is needed:
• Camera Management Tool
• Recorded Video Utility
Installation
Installation Methods
The software can be installed by [Easy Installation] that enables batch installation, or by [Custom Installation] that
allows users to select the software.
Installing Software
The installation screen is displayed.
Note
• If the [User Account Control] screen is displayed, click [Yes] or [Continue].
Select [Easy Installation] to install all the included software (Camera Management Tool and Recorded Video
Utility).
Select [Custom Installation] to install software individually by selecting which software to be installed and how it is
installed.
The Camera Management Tool icon and Recorded Video Utility icon will be displayed on the desktop.
Installing Software
1Confirm that all other applications have been closed.
2Double-click [VBToolsInstall.exe].
3Select the installation method.
4Follow the on-screen instructions, then click [Exit] or [Reboot] on the Installation Complete screen.
