6. Power Saving Feature
When the power saving active them the power indicator LED wi be from Green Light to
Amber and power saving feature comp ies with these VESA power saving modes:
Mode H. Sync. V. Sync. LED Power Consumption
Norma On On Green <40W
Stand-by Off On Amber < 3W
Suspend On Off Amber < 3W
Off Off Off Amber < 3W

Canvys-VA12_15_17_19_VGA&DVI_EN_Manua .doc Heike Rettsch ag Page 9 of 12
The monitor uses the H. Sync and V. Sync signa s to determine the operation mode to enter.
The monitor power-saving feature automatica y turns off H. Sync and V. Sync if there is no
input from the system for a certain period of time. To use this feature, you need a green PC
that is comp iant with the VESA power saving feature or a software uti ity to detect system
input such as keyboard or mouse.
7. Time Settings
Time settings are adjusted from the system unit by software. To fu fi the requirements in
the NUTEK specification 803299/94 the tota time from indicated inactivity to Power Saving
position A2 (VESA OFF) must not be set more than 70 minutes. We recommend you switch
off the monitor when you do not intend to use it for awhi e.
8. Trouble Shooting
1) Power on but no picture
Make sure the VGA cab e is tight y connected from the video output connector on the video
card to the video input connector on the monitor.
Make sure you are using the standard power adapter coming with the monitor.
Check your video card if the driver is correct y insta ed. If there is no video signa from the
video card, “NO INPUT SIGNAL” wi show on the screen.
2) Wrong or abnorma co ors
If any co or (red, green, or b ue) is missing, check video cab e to make sure it is secure y
connected. Loose pins in the cab e connector can cause a bad connection.
3) The text and icon ook b urry
LCD monitor has a native reso ution which pixe s are produced by ce s in fixed positions.
When a reso ution different from the native reso ution is chosen, the LCD monitor uses
various interpo ation methods to achieve the pseudo reso ution. To achieve the optimum
viewing qua ity, choose the native reso ution of the pane is recommended.
Use “Auto Tuning” function to adjust image qua ity on the OSD menu or you can ho d button
2 for 3 seconds to do auto tuning.
4) Disp ay position is incorrect
Use “Auto Tuning” function to adjust image position on the OSD menu or you can ho d
button 2 for 3 seconds to do auto tuning.
5) Speakers have no sound
Make sure the audio cab e is tight y connected from the audio output jack on the PC to the
audio input jack on the monitor.
6) Residue image
If an image remains on the screen for an extended period of time, it may be imprinted in the
screen and eave a residue image. It is characteristic of iquid crysta and is not ma function
or deterioration of the iquid crysta . The residue image wi disappear after a period of time.
It is recommended to set up the screen saver for your LCD monitor.

Canvys-VA12_15_17_19_VGA&DVI_EN_Manua .doc Heike Rettsch ag Page 10 of 12
7) Out of Rang
The first thing you need to check is the screen reso ution. Usua y “Out of Range” is caused
by improper reso ution setting. You can recover the proper screen reso ution as the fo owing
steps for Windows: (Assumed that the optima reso ution and frequency setting is
1280x1024@ 60Hz.)
Boot the computer into VGA Mode (F8) [repeated y] at startup.
Go to “Control Panel”, doub e c ick on “Display”, c ick on the SETTINGS TAB, and c ick on
the ADVANCED button.
Then C ick on the Adapter TAB, c ick “List All Modes” and change the screen reso ution to
1280x1024. (You can se ect 16 bit or 32 bit co or which depends on your video card
capabi ity.)
Se ect “ 280 by 024, High Color ( 6 bit), Default Refresh”
C ick on the “OK” and “APPLY”.
After c icking the APPLY button, a message wi be disp ayed “Your desktop has been
reconfigured. Do you want to keep these settings?”
C ick “Yes” and “OK”. Then c ick “OK” on the Disp ay Properties window.
Restart your PC
After you restart, go back to “List A Modes” to adjust your screen refresh rate to 60 Hertz.
The “Out of Range” may happen if you switch monitor A to monitor B for your PC. Whenever
you change the monitor for your PC, your PC may detect it as a new hardware and
automatica y insta a proper driver for the monitor. So, you wi have both monitor A and
monitor B drivers on your PC. Sometimes the two monitor drivers may conf ict each other
and cause “Out of Range”. You can reso ve “Out of Range” by uninsta ing both monitor
drivers and reboot your PC. The Windows wi automatica y detect the new hardware and
insta a proper driver for the monitor. Here is a quick way to uninsta the monitor drivers:
Right c ick on “My Computer”, se ect “Properties” and c ick on “Hardware”. C ick on
“Device Manager”, se ect “Monitor” and c ick on “+” in front of “Monitor”. Then you can
see one of the monitor drivers ca ed “Plug and Play Monitor”. A quick way is to uninsta
a the monitor drivers and then et Windows automatica y detect the new hardware. (Right
c ick on the monitor driver and se ect “Uninsta ”).
Restart your PC
