The GREEN 650/5 L machine was designed, built and supplied to the customer solely for the
purpose of digging and collecting only one row of potatoes or, using a special device supplied by
the manufacturer, to collect onions that have previously been dug up and windrowed.
It is strictly forbidden to modify the machine or parts of it, intended then for a use different
to that envisaged and specified in this manual.
The machine must be connected to the tractor via the drawbar; it receives motion directly from the
power take-off via a pump. Any other connection is to be considered improper.
The machine cannot be used on slopes of more than 15%.
2.4 Operation
After connecting the potato digger and harvester to the tractor (see paragraph 3.2), place it on the
row to be dug/harvested. Adjust the power take-off to a speed of approximately 250 revolutions
per minute, then, operating the electric panel lever, lower the collection structure (consisting of:
front digger part/collection and first belt) and operate the lever to start the belt. Select a low gear
and commence work. After a few meters, check the product on the first belt: if it is damaged or cut,
it is necessary to increase the distance between the front roller and the plowshares via the
adjustment tensioner. If instead too much earth is dug, bring the roller close to the plowshare. (Fig.
2)
Fig. 2 –Excavation depth adjustment tensioner
Every adjustment, maintenance and checking operation must be carried out with the
machine stopped, the tractor switched off and the keys removed from the panel!

The first belt and paddles bring up the product, removing excess soil, and transport it to the second
belt.
The two belts are independent of each other and have adjustable speeds through hydraulic
regulators positioned near the operators. (Fig. 3). Usually the first belt has a speed greater than
30% with respect to that of the second.
Fig. 3 –Belts/tapes speed regulators
All this depends on the type of soil and the maturity of the product.
To the side of the second belt there are two corridors which transport the product to the rear of the
machine.
With potato equipment:
The excess soil and impurities are discharged to the ground at the end of the second belt, while the
potatoes are manually placed in the side corridors and transported backwards and unloaded into
boxes (max. 50 kg), or crates (max 0.6 m3), depending on the configuration of the machine.
With onion equipment:
The excess soil and impurities are selected by the operators on board and the onions continue in
the central part of the belt until they are unloaded into crates (max. 50kg) or crates (max. 0.6 m3)
depending on the layout.
Unloading filled containers:
Once the containers (boxes or boxes) are full, it is necessary to proceed in this manner:
•Stop the progress of the tractor
•Leave the engine running, and the power take-off engaged
•Stop advancement of the belts by acting on the lever of the electrical panel.
•Always avoid a situation where the personnel assigned to use the machine are at the back of
the machine. A minimum distance greater than 3 meters must be maintained from the range
of action of the machine.
Crates and sacks
•Manually unload the full crates and reposition them empty:
Crates:
•The tractor driver, acting on the lever of the electric panel activates the forklift lowering
cylinders.
•Advance with the tractor for approximately 2 meters, always keeping personnel at a safe
distance.
•Act from the opposite wall with the same lever of the electrical panel to lift the forklift.

TEL: +39 051 6929011 FAX: +39 051 6929110 www.carlotti-g.it - direzione@carlotti-g.it
•Stop advancement of the tractor.
•The personnel assigned to positioning of the empty containers will proceed only at this
point to reposition a new crate.
•Proceed with the work.
These operations must be carried out whenever the unloading and consequent loading of
the containers is to be performed.
2.5 Operators of the GREEN 650/5 L machine
The GREEN 750/5 machine was designed to accommodate a maximum of 4 operators on board,
positioned on the sides of the sorting table, 2 on the right platform and 2 on the left platform.
It is absolutely forbidden to increase the number of operators on board.
Every time a manoeuvre must be performed to enter and exit the field, to connected to the tractor,
for positioning on the furrow, for alignment in the field, for maintenance, adjustment, no operators
must be on board and/or near the machine (minimum distance 3 m).
Whenever it is necessary for operators to climb onto and/or leave the machine, the following are
required:
•The machine must be absolutely stationary, in a horizontal position and on level ground
•The operators must wear safety shoes with anti-slip soles
•The platforms and/or steps for ascent and descent must always be clean without mud, snow
or other elements that could make them slippery.
Operators of the GREEN 650/5 L machine:
•No. 4 operators on board. They have the sole and unique function of selecting the product on
the work table (sorting belt) and stopping the machine if requiring using the emergency
mushroom buttons positioned on the 2 sides of the work table (Fig. 4). Any other operation is to
be considered improper and must only be carried out by trained and qualified personnel.
•No. 1 tractor driver. They have the task of operating the machine and controlling its
movements. They must be trained, instructed and informed about the operation of the tractor
and of the tractor - machine complex, and must become familiar with the levers of the electrical
control panel. The tractor driver in fact has the task of moving the levers, giving movement to
the machine and to its parts.
•No. 1/2 unloading personnel. They have the task of unloading the full crates and loading the
empty crates and containers.
•No. 1 qualified technician. They have the task of fine-tuning, adjusting, performing maintenance
on the machine and on its parts. They must be competent, trained, instructed and informed
about the maintenance and adjustment of mechanical parts.

•Lift or lower the disc manually
•Retighten the 3 fixing screws
The depth of the discs must be minimal to guarantee the simple linearity of penetration of
the collector.
An excessive depth causes will cause malfunctioning of the digging equipment as it does not
maintain a constant depth.
There is also a risk of causing torsions and probable breakages within the support structure of the
disc.
4.4 Rear forklift
The forklift is mounted at the rear of the machine. The pendulum movement allows the container to
be unloaded.
The maximum capacity of the forklift is 800 kg.
The lifting power is very limited: the forklift can at most lift an empty container and bring it to the
filling position under the sorting belt.
