PRESENTATION
How the unit works
The LIMPIDO 100 is a sterilising system which functions by electrolysis of salt water. The
Electrolytic process separates the salt present (NaCl) into sodium (Na) and chlorine
(Cl), which immediately dissolves in the water to make hypochlorous acid (HClO).
This is a powerful disinfectant which kills any bacteria and algae before changing
back into salt. The electrolyser only produces chlorine when the flowmeter detects
that water is circulating in the cell.
The electrolysis unit only produces chlorine during filtration periods determined by the
programming clock. During these filtration periods, the production time is composed
of cycles made up of two periods (Normal and Inverse) that alternate the polarity of
the electrodes. This polarity inversion avoids scaling of the electrodes. The duration of
each production cycle is about 2h00 and it is broken down as follows:

CCEI page 4
-Phase 1, normal production. (40 minutes).
-Phase 2, rest (20 minutes).
-Phase 3, inverse mode production. (40 minutes).
-Phase 4, rest (20 minutes).
Two operating modes may be chosen depending on how much chlorine you want to
produce (ppage 6), but in any case, your electrolysis unit should not be allowed to
operate unless the filtration is in service itself (see “flow detector” section), for safety
reasons.
Continuous mode (Manual operation):
In this mode, the LIMPIDO repeats its 2h00 production cycle throughout the entire
filtration period.
Programmed mode (Operation on the clock):
In this mode, the LIMPIDO only operates during the times programmed on its clock.
Its operating times within the periods determined for the filtration pump should be
defined (see example below).

At the end of a filtration period, the LIMPIDO also stops immediately (however its
clock continues normally) but its control box memorizes the position of the
electrolysis unit within the cycle, and the next time that a filtration period is started,
the LIMPIDO resumes its cycle at exactly the position at which it was interrupted.
The main advantage of this operating method is that it guarantees absolutely
identical normal and inverse production times in all cases (even in the case of a
power failure), and consequently assures the user that scale elimination in his unit
will be optimized (to guarantee production quality and durability of the
equipment).
The electrolytic cell
The cell is an essential element of the LIMPIDO and must be handled with care.
The cell is equipped with electrodes composed of solid titanium plates treated with
ruthenium oxide. It is specially designed to maximize life and to restrict maintenance
operations.
The Flowmeter
The flowmeter delivered with LIMPIDO 100 prevents the electrolyser from functioning
when water is not circulating and during back-washing. This prevents any build up of
hydrogen or overheating, ensuring the unit remains safe.

The production indicator
The ammeter tis used to check the production level of the unit.
Production check
The measurement dial is divided into three parts (less than 4 amperes, 4 to 6 amperes,
more than 6 amperes), representing the production level.

0 to 4 A Low Increase production using s, check the salt
content or clean the cell.
4 to 6 A Normal
6 to 10 A Excessive
overproduction
Reduce production using s
Excess salt - Check the salt content
The production level must be kept within the 4 to 6 A range at all times.
Production fault
In case of overproduction (current exceeding 6 A). This fault usually occurs if there is
too much salt in the pool.
The control box is equipped with a rated circuit breaker uthat cuts off production in
the case of overproduction, so that the cell cannot be damaged by an overcurrent.
This fault is cleared by waiting for a few minutes to allow the unit to cool, and then
resetting uand reducing production using switch suntil the needle returns to the
central part of the indicator. If the unit overproduces because there is too much salt,
replace some of the water in the pool until the salt content is acceptable.
Checking the salt content
The salt content in the pool must not drop below 2g/l when the water temperature is
25°C. It is recommended that the salt content should be kept between 2.5g/l and
4.5g/l to protect the electrolysis cell. The water conductivity varies with the
temperature. The salt content should be kept above 3.5 g if LIMPIDO is to operate in
water below 18°C.

Installing the Pool Terre®
The Pool-terre device is necessary to carry electrostatic charges contained in the
water to earth.
When it is connected to an earthing terminal, this device eliminates leakage currents
and reduces oxidation and reduction phenomena responsible for corrosion.
•Install the 50/50/1/2" Tee on the discharge pipe on the downstream side of the
heating or electrolysis equipment.
•Connect the Pool-terre to the equipotential pipe, giving priority to a direct
connection to the earthing rod and using a green and yellow cable with
appropriate cross-section (not less than 16mm²).

Electrical connection
•The electrical connection of the LIMPIDO has been very much simplified:
The power supply cable is supplied with a standard plug. The installer may remove
this plug to make a fixed connection if he wishes.
The cell and flow detector connections are made on professional type connectors
and are differentiated from each other.
•Make sure that the electrical installation on the inlet side of the box is capable of
guaranteeing the safety of persons and the equipment. In particular, we
recommend that a high sensitivity 30 mA differential should be installed at the
starting point of the pool electrical circuit.
IMPORTANT: Never work on a live cabinet; switch off its power supply either at the
cutoff device provided in the technical room, or on the main switchboard for the
home if it is accessible.
STARTUP
Check on the salt content
Use the salt tester supplied with the instrument.
Take off the protective cap at the end of the tester and then briefly press the ON/OFF
button in order to start the instrument. Dip the end of the tester in the water sample to
be analyzed. Do not immerse the appliance beyond the striated part.
When the display is steady, read the value directly on the screen or press the HOLD
key, which will prevent the displayed value from changing when you take the tester
out of the analyzed sample.
The value is expressed in ppm (parts per million) or mg/l (milligram per liter). The
measurement range varies from 1 mg/l to 9,990 mg/l . Since the display only shows 3
figures, the tester displays an x10 symbol immediately after the value read when this
value exceeds 999 mg/l. Thus 450 x10 means 4,500 mg/l or 4.5g/l.

Adjusting the production level
The chlorine quantity produced by LIMPIDO is proportional to the time during which it
is in operation. Therefore, production will be adjusted by increasing or reducing the
programmed number of hours and holding the position of the indicator needle t
between 4A and 6A using a switch s.
It is recommended that the production indicator should be monitored frequently
during the first week in service, and the production level should be corrected as soon
as the needle goes outside the 4 to 6 ampere range:
0 to 4A range Increase production
6 to 10A range Reduce production
The chlorine quantity necessary to maintain the water quality in a pool depends on
many parameters:
•Water acidity (pH)
•Water hardness (TH)
•Water temperature
•Sunshine (UV radiation)
•The stabilizer content (isocyanuric acid)
•Volume of the pool
In particular, if a stabilizer is used, the content of free chlorine needs to be equal to
2mg/l (2ppm), while 0.4mg/l is necessary to treat a pool without a stabilizer.
Similarly, an increase in the pH (lack of acid) quickly reduces the quantity of active
chlorine contained in the water. Thus, the percentage of active chlorine is divided by
4 when the pH increases from 7.2 to 8.2.

Checking the pH
Therefore, it is essential that the pH of the water is kept at between 7.2 and 7.6, so that
the LIMPIDO can operate efficiently. Regular checks are necessary.
The following table can be used to determine the LIMPIDO operating time as a
function of the volume of the pool and the pH, for a water temperature of 25°C.
Volume (m3).
pH 40 60 80 100 120 140 160
6.8 2h00 2h50’ 3h50’ 4h50’ 5h40’ 6h40’ 7h40’
7 2h10’ 3h15’ 4h20’ 5h30’ 6h30’ 7h40’ 8h45’
7.2 2h30’ 3h40’ 5h00’ 6h15’ 7h30’ 8h50’ 10h00’
7.4 3h00’ 4h30’ 5h50’ 7h20’ 8h50’ 10h20’ 11h50’
7.6 3h40’ 5h25’ 7h15’ 9h00’ 10h50’ 12h30’ 14h20’
7.8 4h40’ 6h50’ 9h15’ 11h30’ 13h50’ 16h00’ 18h20’
Since the water temperature varies depending on the season, the LIMPIDO
production time needs to be varied while varying the filtration operating times in the
same proportions.

For example, the daily operating time of the LIMPIDO for a 120m3 pool with a pH equal
to 7.2, is approximately 7h30 at 25°C and 7h30 x 1.5, or 11h15’, when the water
temperature is between 27°C and 29°C.

MAINTENANCE
Wintering
Depending on climatic conditions, the treatment can be continued throughout the
winter at a much lower frequency. An 8-hour filtration cycle every 15 days will be
sufficient in most cases.
The production level can be reduced correspondingly if a tarpaulin or pool cover is
used.
The salt content should be increased to 5 g/l so that the LIMPIDO can operate with
cold water (lower than 18°C).
Adding salt
Salt must be added into the pool when the salt content drops below 2.5 g/l.
It is recommended that salt specially treated for pools should be used, and that it
should contain stabilizers. The efficiency of the electrolysis unit will be significantly
improved.
We recommend that you verify the salt content and correct it to 4 g/l at the
beginning of the season. The following salt quantities should be added, as a function
of the measured salt content:
Pool volume in m3
