1Productinformation
Thiscommercial escalatorcleaningmachineis
designedtocleanalltypesof escalatorand travelator
treads,andisideallysuited foruseinairports,
shoppingcentres,retailstores, hotelsand
Undergroundrailwaystations.
The machineisintendedforindooruseonlyindry
conditions.
The followinginstructionscontain important
informationaboutthemachineandsafetyadvicefor
theoperator.
Equipment mustbeoperated, servicedand
maintained in accordancewiththemanufacturer’s
instructions.
Ifin doubtcontactthesupplierofyourmachine.
1.1ImportantSafetyAdvice
Whenusing electricalequipmentbasicsafety
precautionsshould befollowed includingthe
following.
•Readallinstructionscarefullybeforeuse.
•Keepchildren andunauthorisedpersonsawayfrom
the machinewhenin use.
•Donot leavethemachine connectedtothe
electricitysupplywhennotin use,alwaysremove
the plugfromthesocket-outlet.
•Switchoff themachine beforeremoving theplug.
•Whenunpluggingpullthe plug,not thesupplycord.
•Keepthepowersupplycordclearofmovingparts.
During operation hazardmayoccurwhenrunning
the machineoverthepowersupplycord.
•Donot operatethe machinewithadamaged
supplycordorplug, orafterthemachine
malfunctionsorisdamagedin anyway. Contactan
authorisedServiceAgent forrepairoradjustment.
•Theplugof thepowersupplycordmust be
removedfromthesocket-outlet before
commencingcleaning ofthe machineor
undertakingmaintenanceoperations.
•Thepowersupplycordistoberegularlyinspected
forsignsofdamage.Ifthepowersupplycordis
damaged, it hastobereplaced.
•Donot usewherehazardousdust ispresent.
•Donot usein anexplosiveatmosphere.
1.2Guidelinesfortheoperator
•Operatorsmust befullytrained in the useofthe
machine in accordancewiththeseinstructions, able
toperformusermaintenanceandthecorrect
selectionof brushes.
•Operatorsshould bephysicallycapableto
manoeuvre,transport andoperatethemachine.
•Operatorsshould beable torecogniseunusual
operation ofthe machineandreport anyproblems.
•Keephandsandfeet wellclearofrotatingbrushes.
•Wearsuitable footweartoavoid slipping.
•Wearsuitable clothingtokeepdryandwarm.
•Donot smokewhenusing themachine.
•CAUTION -Thismachineisfordryuseonlyand
shouldnotbeused orstoredoutdoorsin wet
conditions.
1.3Transportingthemachine
CAUTION-THISMACHINEISHEAVY
Donotattempttoliftthemachinewithout
assistance. Incorrectliftingtechniquesmayresultin
personal injury.
Tomovethemachinearound, pull thehandle
backwardstobring thewheelsintocontactwiththe
floorenablingthemachinetobe movedeasily.
2Preparing foruse
1.Carefullyremovethemachineandbrushesfrom
theirrespectivepackaging.
2.Check machinefortransit damage.Donotuse
machineifdamaged.
3.Raisehandletoworkingposition.
2.1Fittingthebrushes
WARNING-Thisappliancehasbeen designedfor
usewiththebrushesspecifiedbythe
manufacturer. Theuse ofotherbrushesmay
impairsafety.
Alwaysensuremachineisunpluggedbeforefitting or
removingparts.
•Releasethetwolockingpinssecuring thetopcover
andraisethecovertorestagainstthehandle.
•Disconnect thetwohosesfromthebrushcowl.
•Tip the cowlforwardtoreveal thebrushspindles
(Fig.1).
•Removethebrushretaining clipsfromthe spindle
ends,and slide thebrushontothespindleengaging
thenarrowslot withthe drivenibandrefitthe
retainingclips.
•Closethebrushcowlandreconnectthe twohoses.
•Closethetop coverandre-engagethe lockingpins.
2.2Electricalconnection
Beforeconnectingthemachinetothepowersupply,
checkthat yoursupplyvoltage correspondswiththat
markedon the ratinglabel onthemachine.
UK only
Thesupplycordisfittedwithanonrewireable plug
containinga13 ampfuse.Shouldthefuserequire
replacementitmustonlybe replacedbya13amp
fuseconforming toBS1362,and thefusecovermust
berefitted.If thefusecoverislosttheplug mustnot
beuseduntil thecorrectreplacement coverisfitted.
IMPORTANT -Ifthesupplycordisdamaged, it must
onlybereplacedbyaspecial cordavailable fromthe
manufactureroranauthorisedserviceagent.
WARNING-THISAPPLIANCEMUSTBEEARTHED
Werecommend theuseofanRCD (Residual Current
Device)oran ELCB(EarthLeakageCircuitBreaker)
betweenthemainssocketandthe supplycordplug to
protect against electricshock.

3Controls
The operatingswitchesarelocatedon thetopof the
machine.
1-Switch, vacuummotor
Used toswitchvacuummotorONandOFF.
2- Switch, brushmotor
Used toswitchbrushmotorONand OFF.
NOTE- Bothswitchescontain current overload cut-
outs.If trippedtheywillreset automaticallyafterafew
moments. Iftripping repeatedly,referto Fault
diagnosis section.
4Operation
The CimexX46 machineisdesignedtocleanvarying
widthsofescalatorandwillthereforeonlycleanpart
ofthe widthat atime. Aftereachcompletepass,
movethemachineacrosstheescalatortooverlap
previoslycleanedarea until thefullwidthhasbeen
cleaned.
4.1Cleaningtheescalator
•Wheelthe machinetothebottomoftheescalator.
WARNING-Neverattemptto usethemachineat
thetopofanescalator.
•Fullyunwindthesupplycordand plugintoa
convenient socket outlet.
•Ensurethattheescalatorismoving away fromthe
machine, reversethe directionof theescalatorif
necessary.
•Positionthemachine ontheescalatorsuchthatthe
rest barsituatedjustin front ofthewheelssitson
the non-moving combofthe escalator.
•Switchonthevacuummotor,followedbythebrush
motor.
•WARNING-Neverstartthemachinewithoutthe
brushesfitted.
4.2Stainandspot removal
Fordegreasingandstainremovaltheescalatormaybe
lightlyhandsprayed with‘Escaclean’ chemical.
IMPORTANT-DONOTSOAKTHEESCALATOR
4.3Dustbagreplacement
•Releasethetwolocking pinsandraisethetop
cover.
•Pushthetopedgeofthe cardboardcollarofthe
bagtowardstherearof themachineuntil thebagis
released fromthevacuumtubes,andcarefully
removethebag fordisposal.
•Insert newbagpushingtherubbersealsfirmlyover
the tubeendsuntilthecardboardcollarisflat
against themachine wall(Fig.2).
•Closethe topcoverand lockingpins.
The dust bagshouldberegularlyreplaced,and the
hosescheckedforblockages. If abagburstsensure
thatthe filterisremoved andcleanedbeforefitting a
newbag. IMPORTANT-Thefiltermustbedry
beforerefitting.
5Storage
Afterusealways wipedownanddrythe machine.
Removethebrushesand cleanthemunderrunning
waterand allowtodry. IMPORTANT - Neverstore
themachinewith thebrushesfitted as thiswill
damagethebrushes. Check dust bagcondition and
clean filterasrequired.
Wrapsupplycordaroundthehandle ensuringthat the
plugisnot trailingonthefloor. Storethemachine in a
dryindoorarea only.
6Maintenance
WARNING-Beforeundertaking maintenance
operationsoradjustmentsswitchoff machine
and unplugfromtheelectricitysupply.
Themachinerequiresminimummaintenanceapart
fromthefollowing checks byatrainedoperator.
•Supplycord -Regularlyinspect sheath, plug and
cordanchorage fordamageorlooseconnection.
Onlyreplacethe supplycordwiththetype
specifiedintheseinstructions.
•Dustfilter -Check filterconditionwhenchanging
abagandcleanorreplaceasnecessary.
7Aftersalesservice
Should yourequireaftersalesservicepleasecontact
thesupplierfromwhomyou purchasedthemachine,
whowillarrange service. Repairsandservicingof
Truvoxproductsshouldonlybe performedbytrained
staff. Improperrepairscancauseconsiderable
dangerstothe user.
Enquireabout theTruvoxlowcostand efficient
MaintenanceContract.

The followingsimple checksmaybe performedbythe operator.

Cut-outwillreset automatically

pointsbelow.
Machinestallsduringoperation.Damaged brushes.
Looseplugconnection.
Replacebrushes.
Check plugisfullyinserted into
mainssocket.
Machinevibrates.Wornbrushes.
Brushesincorrectlyfitted.
