4 About Installing the IP Dome
Installing the IP dome involves mounting it on a ceiling or wall and connecting it to
power, a network, and optional components.
Options for mounting the 2621 IP dome include the following:
•Junction box mounting—You can mount the IP dome onto a pre-installed
standard 4 x 4 inch (101.6 x 101.6 mm) junction box.
•Conduit case mounting—Use this method with the optional conduit case in
situations where you cannot cut a hole through a surface for cables or where
cables run through a small hole in a surface.
•Direct solid surface mounting—If the cables for the IP dome can pass through an
opening in a surface, you can mount the IP dome by attaching its base plate
directly to the surface.
The IP dome requires a connection to a network via a category 5 or higher network
cable. If this connection does not provide Power over Ethernet (PoE), the IP dome
also requires a power cable from a 12 VDC or 24 VAC power adapter. The 12 VDC
or 24 VAC source must be isolated from the ground (floating output).
In addition, you can use the following optional devices with the 2621 IP dome:
•External speaker
•External microphone
•Up to two external input devices and up to two external output devices
For detailed information about understanding, installing, configuring, operating,
administering, and troubleshooting the IP dome, see Cisco Video Surveillance IP
