Assembling the Cisco TelePresence
System TX1300 47—Freestanding Version
Revised: January 12, 2012, OL-24695-01
The following document describes the tasks that you perform to install and set up a freestanding version
of the Cisco TelePresence System TX1300 47 and includes the following sections:

Note
The display used in this product contains mercury. Dispose of this display according to local, state, and
federal laws.
Required Tools
•
#2 Phillips screwdriver
•
#3 Phillips screwdriver.
•
Long-handled #3 Phillips screwdriver, or a #3 Phillips drill bit that is at least 6 inches (15 cm) long
(for two of the screws that attach the cabinet to the base). See Figure 2-3 for more information.
•
3mm Allen wrench, ball-end recommended
•
Pen or pencil and paper (to write down the IP address when you power on the system)

Assembling the TX1300 47
Assembling the TX1300 47
To assemble the TX1300 47, complete the following steps:
Step 1
Take an inventory of the parts in the shipping carton.
Figure 2-1 shows the carton contents:
1.
Accessory kit (CTS1300-47ACCKIT)
2.
Base (CTS1300-47BASEPED or CTS1300-47BASETETH)
3.
Cabinet (CTS1300-47CABEXTR)
4.
Display (CTS-DISP-47-GEN1)
5.
Camera (CTS1300-47CAMCLST)
6.
Codec (CTS-CODEC-PRI-G2R)
7.
Speaker cover (CTS1300-47SPKCOV)
8.
Light reflector (CTS1300-47AV-PNL)
9.
Microphone (CTS-MIC)
10.
Microphone (CTS-MIC)
11.
Microphone (CTS-MIC)
12.
Cisco TelePresence Touch 12 (CTS-CTRL-DV12-A)
13.

Assembling the TX1300 47
Step 2
Remove the base from its packaging, and attach the feet to the base.
For a freestanding system, be sure to use the larger base with the shorter support posts. Compare this
with the base for the wall-mounted system shown in Figure 3-2.
Tip
If the system is not level, use the wrench that is provided in the kit to adjust the base feet to level the base.

Step 3
Remove the cabinet from its packaging and set the cabinet on the base, and attach it to the base with six
screws (P/N 69-2180-01)using a #3 Phillips screwdriver. You will need to unplug a power cable in the
bottom right corner of the cabinet to install one of the screws.
Note
Use the long-handled screwdriver to secure the topmost screw that connects the cabinet to the base; the
screw is partially hidden by one of the support structures for the cabinet.
Note
If using a power drill/screwdriver, set the torque to a setting of 5, 6, or 7.

Step 4
Remove the light reflector from its plywood backing by removing four screws, indicated by yellow
arrows on the light reflector. Use the handles to lift the light reflector away from the plywood backing
as shown in Figure 2-4.

Step 5
Attach the cabinet post end caps and the light reflector:
a.
Attach the end caps to the tops of the cabinet posts. See callout a in Figure 2-5 for more information.
The end caps are in the accessory kit.
b.
Attach the light reflector to the cabinet.by hanging it on the two round pegs on the cabinet posts, and
then screwing it to the cabinet posts using four screws (P/N 69-2181-01) and a #3 Phillips
screwdriver, and attaching the bottom of the light reflector to the cabinet using two screws (P/N
69-2179-01) and a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
Note
If using a power drill/screwdriver, set the torque to a setting of 5, 6, or 7.

c.
Route the cables for the display (found with the display in box #4) through the slot in the lower
center area of the reflector and the notch at the top of the cabinet.
d.
Remove the protective paper from the outside of the light reflector.
Note
Alternatively, you can remove the paper before you install the light reflector.

Step 6
Place the cable cover on the rear of the light reflector and cabinet and attach it with the four screws (P/N
79-2178-01).
The cover is located in the accessory kit.

Step 7
Attach the camera processor to the light reflector:
a.
Place the processor, found with the camera in box #5, into the light reflector.
b.
Remove the thumb screw from the light reflector and attach the processor to the light reflector using
the thumb screw. See callout b in Figure 2-7 for more information.

c.
Attach the USB type B and DVI cables to the processor. These cables are already connected to the
light reflector.
Note
The DVI cable is tied to the light reflector with a cable tie to prevent damage during shipping.
Cut the cable tie and release the cable in order to connect it to the camera processor.

Step 8
Attach the display to the light reflector:
a.
Hook the display onto the rods in the light reflector.
Note
Hold the bottom of the display slightly forward from light reflector to prevent it from latching
to the light refelector.
b.
Connect the power and signal cables to the back of the display.
c.
Rotate the display downwards until the lower part of the display attaches to the light reflector.
