CRO 4.0
Introduction
The CRO 4.0 compost turner was specially designed to be
used by sugar mills, distilleries and agro-industries (since their
industrialization processes produces solid or semi-solid wastes)
and city halls that have waste recycling plants.
The main areas initially explored by Civemasa were the sugar
mills and distilleries, which usually already use the subproducts
obtained from sugar cane processing, such as the use of filter
cake to fertilize the total area or the furrow. Besides the filter cake
usage, it is possible to use another products such as bagasse,
vinasse, boiler ash, chimney soot and others.
The compost turner is pulled by the tractor drawbar. This
equipment has two tires and the frame with finned rotor which is
vertically lifted by a hydraulic cylinder.
This instructions manual contains the necessary information
for the best performance of this equipment. The operator must
carefully read the entire manual before working with the equipment.
Also, read and understand the safety recommendations.
For any further clarification or in the event of technical
problems that may arise during the service, consult your dealer
and the Technical Support department of the factory. They can
ensure the fully functioning of your CIVEMASA equipment.

Mounting the frame to the tow
Concrete stones assembly
The CRO 4.0 leaves the factory
assembled. Note that the frame is
fastened to the tow through the upper
hole, which is used on most operations.
Never use the lower hole on a
concrete yard.
When using the lower
hole, check if organic matter
is not being mixed with earth
and if the rotor blades are not
touching the ground.
To fill up the stones with concrete, follow the instructions:
First of all, place the two small stones and then the three larger ones (observing the
equipment from behind) according to the illustration.
Smaller stones:
Filling: NBR 7212 and 12655 concrete.
Volume: 0.293 m³ per stone.
Compression strength (FCK): 13.5 MPA.
Formula: CAP 1:2:3
Water: 20 - 27 liters / cement bag.
Larger stones:
Filling: NBR 7212 and 12655 concrete.
Volume: 0.456 m³ per stone.
Compression strength (FCK): 13.5 MPA.
Formula: CAP 1:2:3
Water: 20 - 27 liters / cement bag.
After filling up all stones, place the lock (A) on
the tubes and fasten using flat washers and cotter
pin to avoid that the stones fall apart.
NOTE When the equipment is going abroad, the concrete stones must be empty.
The approximated weight of each stone must be:
Smaller stone box = 750 kg.
Larger stone box = 1,100 kg.

Tractor requirements
Hitching to the tractor
• 80 - 120 cv (4 x 4);
• Gearbox (Creeper gear) with an approximated speed of 200 - 320 meters/hour;
• 540 RPM on the PTO;
• Hydraulic system with quick coupling;
• Drawbar to couple the equipment.
For hitching, choose a clean
place and as flat as possible.
• Hitch the equipment to the
tractor drawbar using a hitch pin

• Lastly, couple the male quick couplers
to the hydraulic outlets of the tractor (double
command) and check if they are cleaned.
NOTE For a faster equipment activation,
it is necessary to use a double
command, with four rear outlets.
NOTE The ideal level is when the
oil reaches the hole of the
level plug (E), being the
equipment in a flat place.
Use only high-quality SAE
90 oil.
The oil must not contain
detergent.
The oil capacity on the
gearbox is 4.85 liters.
Hydraulic outlet
Gearbox
The gearbox (D) must be inspected before the equipment starts to operate. If the oil
level is low, fill it up.
After the first 200 hours of operation, it is recommended to change the oil. This is
necessary because by this time the gearbox will get softened. Afterwards, the change can
be made every 500 hours. Verify the oil level in a flat place by loosening and removing the
level plug (E) until the presence of oil is noticed.
In order to carry out the whole change, drain all the oil by removing the drain plug (F)
(located in the lower part of the gearbox), breather plug (G) and level plug. Then, insert the
drain plug and replenish it through the breather plug until the oil leaks through the level plug.
When filling up, complete the gearbox with the same type of oil. If it is not possible,
remove the remainder old oil and replenish the
gearbox completely.
The breather plug must never be
replaced with a common bolt. Its function
is to avoid that any pressure is created
inside the gearbox.
