Products.Pleasereadthismanualcarefullybeforeusingthisproductforacomprehensiveunderstandingso

Protect the device from exposure to direct sunlight or strong beam as strong beam greatly affects the
fingerprintcollectionandleadstofingerprintverificationfailure.
Avoidusingthe productoutdoorsinsummer.Theworkingtemperatureof B&Wscreenseries rangesfrom 0–40
°
C.
Theheatdissipatedduringlongtermoperationmayeasilyleadtoresponseslowdownandverificationpass
ratedecrease.Itis recommendedtousesunshades andheat sinkdevicesfor protectionofthe product at
outdoors. We recommend you to use the device properly so as to achieve the optimal recognition effect and
verificationspeed.

Thissectionintroducesthedefinitionsanddescriptionsofthefollowingbasicconcepts:

Themostimportanttwofunctionssupportedbyuserenrollmentandverification.
2.1UserEnrollment
Ausercanenrollupto10differentfingerprintsusingoneIDnumbertohavemultipleverificationselections.
Theoretically all the fingers of a user need to be enrolled so that the user can use any of the enrolled
fingerprintsforrecognitionevenifhe/sheforgetswhichfingerprinthasbeenenrolled.
Generallyitisrecommendedthatausershallenrollatleasttwofingerprints,forexample,theindexfingersof
bothhands,sothattheusercanstillperformfingerprintmatchingevenifoneormoreofhis/herfingersgetcut
ordamaged.
2.2UserVerification
Whenauserscanshis/herfingerprintonthefingerprintreader(1:N),orentersapassword/placinghis/her
fingerafterenteringanIDnumber(1:1),thedevicecomparesthenewlyscannedfingerprintwithafingerprint
stored in template. The fingerprint template is used to check the user ID. Upon verification, the system
displaysapromptaboutwhethertheverificationsucceedsornot andthenstoresthesuccessfulmatching
recordinthedevice.
2.3UserID
Whenenrollingfingerprints,auserwillbeallocatedwithanunusedID.Whentheuserstartstoverifyhis/her
identity,thisIDisusedtoassociatethefingerprintfeaturetemplateorpassword.
You can enter the ID through the mini keyboard or other storage means, for example, the RF card (the
fingerprintrecognitiondevicemustbeconfiguredwiththeRFcardreader).
2.4AuthorityClasses
TheB&WScreenSeriesStandaloneAccessControllerandReaderproductshavetwoauthorityclasses:
lUsers:refertothosewhoarerequiredtoverifytheiridentityforapurpose,forexample,openingthedoor
orkeepingtheirentry/exitrecords.
lAdministrators: Having all the privileges grants to ordinary users, and access to the main menu for
variousoperations.

This chapterintroduces how to enroll users on the B&W Screen Series Standalone Access Controller and
ReaderProducts.Further,itdescribeshowtoverifythevalidityofenrolledfingerprints.
Thischapterincludesthefollowingparts:

3.1EnrollaUser
The B&W Screen Series Standalone Access Controller and Reader Products supports three enrollment
modes:Fingerprintenrollment,PasswordenrollmentandRFIDenrollment.
Ifnoadministratorhasbeenenrolled,anyuserhastherighttoenrollanewuser.
If an administrator has already been enrolled, that you enroll a new user, need toverify the administrator
identityfirstlybypressingMENU.Thesystemthenpromptsyoutopressyourfingerorenterapasswordor
swipecardforadministratorverification.

1.IfyouwanttocleartheadministratorPrivilege,pleaseclickon"Setting""AdvancedSettings"toselect.
2. VerifyTypeisfingerprintorswipecardbydefault,soifyouregistration,chooseenrollfingerprintorcardisthebest.
3.Toensuredevicesecurity,itisrecommendedtosetanadministratorwhenusingtheterminalinitially.

For users with small fingers, they can opt for their thumbs. To enroll spare
fingerprints, users can select fingers not prone to wearout or damage, for
example,theringfingers.
Fingerplacement Pressyourfingerflatlyonthefingerprintsensorandbesurethatthepad(notthe
tip) covers asmuch of the sensor window as possible. Do not press yourfinger
perpendicular to the fingerprint sensor; do not knock your finger on the sensor
quickly;keepyourfingerstill.
Impactofthe
fingerprintimage
change
The change of fingerprint image due to skin peelingoff or injury will affect the
verificationperformance.
Ifthefingerprintqualityofauserispoorduetotheskinpeelingoffandtheuser
cannot pass the verification one week later, the user needs to reenroll his/her
fingerprintoradoptthepasswordverificationmode.
Othercauses Theremaybeasmallamountofpeoplewhocannotpasstheverificationnomatter
howhardtheytryduetoverypoorfingerprintquality.Inthatcase,youcanadopt
theID+fingerprintverificationmode,dulylowerthe1:1matchthresholdoradopt
thepasswordverificationmode.
