HOW TO CLEAN AN AREA OF CARPET
CAUTION: The recovery tank is equipped with an
electric shut-off float switch. When the
recovery tank becomes full, all electrical
functions will automatically be shut off. Turn
the vacuum/accessory and spray/brush
switch to the "OFF" position before emptying
the recovery tank.
Recomendations for best Wash-n-Rinse cleaning results
1.Vacuumcarpet thoroughlybefore cleaning.
2.Precondition spots,stains andany hightraffic areasas needed.
3.Clean carpetby followingthe instructions in this section. See
"HowtoOperate the Machine".
4.After cleaning,dry carpets by using Clarke fans. Windows
shouldbe opento assistin properdrying.
Note: When using the extractor to clean carpets, follow this
procedure:
1. Do not walk on freshly cleaned carpets for at least four hours or
untilthe carpet is dry to touch.
2.If aluminumor plasticpieces havebeen placed under the legs of
furniture,do notremove themuntil the carpet is dry.
3. Do not allow children or pets to crawl or walk around on the damp
carpet.
4.Vacuum right afterthecarpet is dryand then vacuumthe carpet
once a week, or as often as needed.
To clean an area of carpet, follow this procedure: (See figure
2)
1. Put water intorinse tankand cleaningsolution into the
chemical tank. Clarke recommends using Clarkare Extrac-
torConcentrate as a cleaning solution.
2. Turn the vacuum/accessory/switch to the "I" position.
3. To adjustbrush height,place brushadjusting rodin the
positionthat correspondsto yourcarpet type. Proper
adjustmentis with approximatley1/8" bristle engagement.
NOTE: Incorrect brush height may cause circuit breaker to
trip. Raise brush and reset circuit breaker.
4. Turn the spray/brush switch to the "I" position(or for
intermittentuse, press and hold thespray/brush switch to
the"II" position). With the switch activated, slowly and
steadilypull the machine backwards.
5. Shut the spray/brush"O" andvacuum anadditional six
inches.
6. To clean a small area of carpet, clean the carpet in sections
threefeet square. As you make additional passes,overlap
oneinch of thearea alreadycleaned.
7. To removemore liquidfrom the carpet, liftupslightly onthe
handle,transferring machine weight to thepick up head.
Thespeed youmove the machine will depend on how dirty
the carpet is. If the carpet is very dirty, move the machine
slower.
8. As the machine is used, dirty solution will begin tofill the
recoverytank. Whenthe solutiontank is empty, the recovery
tankmust beemptied. If the solution in the recovery tank is
foamy, therecovery tankmay needto beemptied beforethe
solutiontank is refilled.
