Congratulations!
Thank you for choosing the smart power 12V a revolutionary turntable DC power supply made in
Germany by Clearaudio.
The smart power 12V is a battery-based DC power supply upgrade designed for Clearaudio’s
concept series and Performance DC turntables.
Like the smart power 24V, it provides clean power that is independent of the variability and inherent
noise of the mains supply. With a minimal output impedance, it delivers a steady, stable voltage,
allowing your concept or Performance DC turntable to maintain perfect speed stability.
Again, like the 24V version, the smart power 12V can be set to switch automatically from battery
play mode into recharging mode and will continue to enhance your turntable’s performance and
protect it from short circuits and power surges, even while charging.
When used with the concept active turntable, the smart power’s (12V) benets are multiplied, since
both the turntable’s motor and the on-board phonostage are fed with pure, clean DC power.

2. Getting started
The Clearaudio
smart power 12V is delivered in custom-designed packaging. Please keep this
packaging to ensure safe transportation if needed.
Unpack the unit and place it at its desired location.
Connect the smart power 12V to the mains power supply with the supplied 19V wall mount power
supply. Then connect your turntable to the smart power 12V using the attached power cord, instead
of the usual power supply.
Note: Never connect the 19V power supply direct to your concept series turntable.
Serious damage can occur.
Before using smart power 12V it is important to fully charge internal battery to bring it
to the optimum operating condition (see page 5, point 3.3, “Charging mode”).
To switch the smart power 12V on, use the switch on the rear side of the unit.
The smart power 12V is now in the output/o mode, the LED ring of the button on the front will
brighten up and vanish after a few seconds.
Press the button shortly, to activate the unit and to supply the turntable with power.

3. Modes of operation
3.1 Output/o mode
The output/o mode is characterized by:
1. The output is deactivated.
2. The LED ring of the button is o.
Note: I n this mode, if the battery is discharged, unit will start charging the battery
automatically.
3.2 Battery output mode
The battery output mode is characterized by:
1. The output is activated.
2. The LED ring is constantly on (not ashing).
3.3 Charging mode
The activated charging mode can be identied by the blinking LED ring of the button.
Please note:
The charging mode can be activated in every operation mode.
If the unit becomes completely discharged, smart power 12V will automatically switch to charging
mode.
When in battery mode, a long press (approx. 3 seconds) will manually start the charging or top up
process.
The LED ring conrms the activated charging mode by ashing.
Depending on the remaining charge of the integrated NiMh batteries, charging time may vary.
When the battery is fully charged, charging mode will switch o automatically.
To manually stop the charging process, long press (approx. 3 seconds) the button again.
The LED ring will shine constantly.
Please note:
Unit will take up to 30 seconds to completely start or stop the charging process.

4. Operating information
• As long as a load is connected to the smart power 12V and the remaining charge level is sucient
for operation of the connected device there will be no charging.
• A reduction of the output voltage of up to 4V between two charging cycles is normal.
Crucial for the correct speed of the turntable is a noise free current and not the absolute value.
This is ensured by battery-buering and a special, linear regulation in the turntable.
• Switching o the unit is done using the power switch on the rear side of the smart power 12V .
• By turning the knob on the back, the light of the LED ring on the front can be dimmed in all
operating modes (see Pic.1, red mark).
Please note:
To prevent overheating of electronic parts never cover or put anything on top of the
smart power 12V .
Do not dispose the unit in the domestic waste.
Do not expose the
smart power 12V to a temperature above 40° Celsius.

revolutionäres DC-Netzteil für Ihren Plattenspieler, hergestellt in Deutschland.
Diese exzellente Akku-Lösung wurde speziell für clearaudio concept und Performance DC Laufwerke
entwickelt.
Sie brilliert mit ihrer minimalen Ausgangs-Impedanz und besonders acher Spannungs-
Entladungskurve, nach dem Vorbild der smart power 24V.
Absoluter Gleichlauf sowie vorbildliche Laufruhe für viele Stunden werden dadurch garantiert und

2. I nbetriebnahme
Die clearaudio smart power 12V verlässt unsere Fertigung in einer besonders sicheren und eigens
für dieses Produkt konzipierten Verpackung.
Bewahren Sie diese Verpackung auf, um jederzeit einen sicheren Transport Ihres Gerätes zu
gewährleisten.
Entnehmen Sie das Gerät der Verpackung und stellen Sie es am gewünschten Einsatzort auf.
Verbinden Sie das Gerät mit dem beigelegten Steckernetzteil mit dem Stromnetz und anschließend
Ihren Plattenspieler mit dem verbauten Stromkabel der smart power 12V anstelle des
Standardsteckernetzteils.
Hinweis: Schließen Sie das 19 Volt Netzteil niemals direkt an I hrem concept
Plattenspieler an, dies könnte zu ernsthaften Schäden führen.
Bevor Sie die smart power 12V einsetzen, ist es wichtig, dass die internen Akkus einmal
vollständig durchgeladen werden, um diese aus dem Lagerungs- in den Betriebszustand
zu bringen (siehe Seite 11, Punkt 3.3; „Charging mode“).
Um das Gerät einzuschalten, betätigen Sie den Schalter auf der Rückseite.
Die smart power 12V bendet sich nun im „Output/o mode“, der LED-Ring der Taste an der
Vorderseite leuchtet kurz auf und geht nach ein paar Sekunden aus.
Berühren Sie den Taster kurz um das Gerät zu aktiveren und um den Plattenspieler mit Strom zu
versorgen.
