BASIC PERATI N
Single Cycle Operation
Turn the Stroke selector switch to “Single Stroke” (item 14 on sheet
KE01710-2). t will do the following when the Actuator switch is pressed
(item 32 on sheet KE01710-2).
■Shifts 2nd valve (item 3 on sheet KE01710-4), which
turns off 1st valve (item 2 on sheet KE01710-4) and
takes the signal away from point #24 (see view “A” on
sheet KE01710-3).
■Single cycle valve (item 6 on sheet KE01710-4) is now
turned on. t gives one shot of air to 3rd valve #3 which
shifts and turns on valves in Group A.
■The Pump valve (item 5 on sheet KE01710-2) now shifts
(point 1) and valve #4 & #5 shift (points 11 & 12). This
actuates Nozzle Cylinder (item 30 on KE01710-2) and
Flapper Cylinder (item 31 on KE01710-2).
■When the Product piston is completely retracted it hits
limit switch LV1 (item 33 on KE01710-2). This shifts valve
#3 back through point 19 which turns on Group B which
shifts the Pump valve (point 2) and shift the valve #4 &
#5 back (points 22 & 23) which actuate the Nozzle
cylinder (item 30 on KE01710-2) and Flapper cylinder
(item 31 on KE01710-2) to complete the Single cycle.
Single Cycle operation
Turn Stroke selector switch to Constant pumping cycle. t will do the
following when the Actuator switch is pressed.
■Shifts valve #2 which in turn shifts valve #1 (point 31).
This turns on valve #3 (point 24) if LV2 (item 33 on
KE01710-2) is activated which turns on Group A.
■When the Product piston reaches the full stroke, it hits
limit switch LV1 (item 33 on KE01710-2).
(item 31 on KE01710-2).
■When the Product piston completes the first cycle, LV2 is
hit again and turns valve #1 back on and shifts valve #3
again (point 24) and starts another cycle all over again.
■This will continue until the selector switch is turned off,
which shuts off air to valve #2 and stops supplying air to
valve #1, which will not turn on valve #3 to start another
cycle.
ADJUSTMENT & SETTING F AIR
CUSHI N
SECTI N 1 - Adjustment of Valve Paddle Travel
N TE: When looking at the pump head (paddle side), left
side paddle travel is affected by the right side air cylinder
travel adjustment set screw and vice versa.
1. Back off 9/16" lock nut on 3/8" dia. set screw as shown
in Figure 1.
2. Adjust set screw until valve paddle is l/8" away from
inside O-ring and edge as shown in Figure 2.
3. Secure lock nut.
4. Recheck l /8" distance between paddle and edge.
5. This side is now set. Follow the same procedure for the
other side.
SECTI N 2 - Setting of Air Cushion
N TE A: Again left side paddle cushioning is affected by
the right side air cylinder cushion set screw (3/16" dia.) and
vice versa as shown in Figure 1.
N TE B: Turning set screw in increases air cushion action
and vice versa.
CAUTI N: Avoid fingers around paddle travel area,
personal injury may result.
1. Support the head assembly securely and connect the air
lines to the rotary actuator air cylinders. Activate air to
start rotary action.
2. Observe air cushion action at the end of each swing.
Optimum cushion action can best be described as a
controlled deceleration of the paddle at the end of the
swing with complete elimination of rotational momentum
in the shortest time possible. Adjust set screw to achieve
results on both sides.

AIR PRESSURE
1. Adjust air regulator or line pressure so that air pressure
gauge reads 90 - 100 psi when unit is running on
continuous cycle (stroke selector switch is set on
"constant pumping").
2. Drip Adjustment-
Þ Observe the sight bulb on the top of the oiler. One
drop of oil into the lines for every ten to fifteen cycles of
the product piston.
Þ f adjustment is necessary turn the sight bulb
clockwise for more oil, counter clockwise for less oil.
3. Adding Oil-
Use only mineral oil in th oiler.
Þ Remove air supply from unit.
Þ Remove oiler bowl (as per instructions on the bowl).
Fill to line and replace.
AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT
PR CEDURE
The air filter is designed to
separate a small amount of dirt
and water from the supply air.
This filter is NOT designed to
clean air straight from the
compressor. You must install a
separate filter and drier in the
supply line to deliver air with a
dew point of less than 65° F.
1. Check for water accumulation daily. f water is present,
push small button at the bottom of bowl and allow the
water to spray out.
N TE: f the bowl has to be drained regularly (more than
once a week) then the supply air has not been sufficiently
dried.
2. f the air filter cartridge is dirty then it should be
replaced.
Þ Turn off air to the unit.
Þ Remove bowl.
Þ Separated deflector and baffle
Þ nstall new filter.
Þ Reassemble.
STR KE ADJUSTMENT
The amount of delay between the time the product piston
reaches the end of a half stroke and the reversing of
direction can be adjusted.
1. The two flow controls (LV1 & LV2) are located to the left
of the product piston.
2. Loosen locking nut.
3. Set selector switch to continuous and have someone
hold the nozzle trigger as you adjust the delay.
4. Retighten the locking knob.
The product piston stroke can be adjusted by loosening the
knob and moving the limit switch LV1. Move to left to shorten
the stroke or the right to increase.
