1GENERAL
MANUAL
The manual allows a correct unit installation, use and
maintenance.
Pay particular attention to :
 WARNING, identifies particularly important
operations or information
 PROHIBITIONS, identifies operations that must not
be carried out, that compromises the operating of
the unit or may cause damages to persons or
things .
Read carefully to save time in various operations.
Follow the indications so you will not cause damages
to things and injuries to people
Preliminaries
Only qualified personnel can operate on the unit, as
required by the regulation in force.
Risk situations
The unit has been designed and created to prevent
injures to people.
During designing it is not possible to plane and operate
on all the risk situations.
 Read carefully the "Residual risk" section where are
reported all the situations which may cause
damages to things and injuries to people .
 Installation, starting-up, maintenance and repair
required specific knowledge; if they are carried out
by inexperienced personnel, they may cause
damages to things and injuries to people.
Intended use
Use the unit for :
 cooling/heating water or a water and glycol mix
 within limits defined in the technical bulletin and
on this manual.
Any other use does not involve the manufacturer in any
commitment or obligation
Installation
 Outdoor installation
 The positioning, the hydraulic, refrigerating and
electrical system and the air ducting must be
determined by the system designer according to the
local regulations.
 Follow local safety regulations
 Verify that the electrical line characteristics are in
compliance with data indicated on the unit serial
number label.
Maintenance
Schedule periodic inspections and maintenances in
order to avoid or reduce repairing costs.
Turn the unit off before any operation.
Modification
 All unit modifications will invalidate the warranty and
the manufacturer responsibility.
Breakdown/Malfunction
 Disable the unit immediately in case of breakdown or
malfunction.
Contact an assistance service centre authorized by the
manufacturer.
Use only original spares parts .
Using the unit in case of breakdown or malfunction :
 voids the warranty
 may compromise the safety of the unit
 may increase time and repair costs.
User training
The installer has to train the user on :
 start-up / shutdown;
 set points change;
 standby mode;
 maintenance;
 what to do / what not to do in case of breakdown.
Data updating
Continuous product improvements may imply manual
data changes
Visit manufacturer web site www.clivet.it for the data
updating.
Indication ìs fo
 Keep this manual with the wiring diagram in an
accessible place for the operator
Note the unit label data so you can provide them to the
assistance centre in case of intervention request (see
"Unit identification" section).
Provide a unit notebook that allows to note and track any
interventions carried out on the unit making it easier to
suitably note the various interventions and aids the
search for any breakdowns.
In case of breakdown or malfunction:
 immediately deactivate the unit
 contact an assistance service centre authorized by
the manufacturer.
 Ask to the installer to be trained:
 start-up / shutdown
 set points change
 standby mode
 maintenance
 what to do / what not to do in case of breakdown
1.12 Unit identification
The serial number label is positioned on the unit,
generally next to the electrical panel, and allows you to
indentify all the unit features.

The serial number label it reports the regulations
indications such as:
 Type of unit
 serial number (12 characters )
 year of manufacture
 wiring diagram number
 electrical data
 Type of refrigerant
 Charge of refrigerant
 manufacturer logo and address
 The serial number label has not to be removed for
any reason
 It contains fluorinated greenhouse gases
Type of refrigerant: R410A
Serial number
It identifies uniquely each unit.
It identifies specific spare parts for the unit.
Intervention requests
Note data from the serial number label and write them
in the table sideways, so you will find them easily when
needed.

2RECEPTION
Before accepting the delivery you have to check:
 that the unit hasn’t been damaged during
transport
 that the materials delivered correspond with that
indicated on the transport document comparing
the data with the identification label positioned
on the packaging.
In case of damage or anomaly:
 write down on the transport document the
damage you found and quote this sentence:
"Conditional acceptance — clear evidence of
deficiencies/damages during transport".
 Contest by fax and registered mail with advice of
receipt to supplier and the carrier.
Any disputes must be made within the 8 days owing the
delivery. Complaints after this period are invalid.
Storing
Observe external packaging instructions
Handling
1. Verify unit weight and handling equipment lifting
capacity
2. Identify critical points during handling (disconnected
routes, flights, steps, doors).
3. Lifting brackets
4. lifting with balance
5. Lifting with spacer bar
6. Suitably protect the unit to prevent damage.
7. Align the barycenter to the lifting point
8. Gradually bring the lifting belts under tension,
making sure they are positioned correctly.
9. Before starting the handling, make sure that the unit
is stable.
Packaging removing
Be careful not to damage the unit.
Recycling and disposing the packaging material in
conformity with local regulations

3POSITIONING
During positioning consider these elements :
 technical spaces required for the machine and system
 place where the machine will be installed
 electrical connections
 water connections
 air / aeraulic ducts
FUNCTIONAL SPACES
Functional spaces are designed to:
 guarantee good unit operation
 Carry out maintenance operations
 protect authorized operators and exposed people
 Respect all functional spaces indicated in the
TECHNICAL INFORMATION section.
POSITIONING
Units are designed to be installed:
 EXTERNAL
 in fixed positions.
Limit vibration transmission:
 use antivibration devices on unit bearing/supporting
points;
 install flexible joints on the hydraulic.
Installation standards:
 customer approval
 safe accessible position
 technical spaces requested by the unit
 spaces for the air intake/exhaust
 max. distance allowed by the electrical connections
 install the unit raised from the ground
 verify unit weight and bearing point capacity
 verify that all bearing points are aligned and
leveled
 condensate water draining
 consider the maximum possible snow level
 Avoid installations in places subject to flooding
Protect the unit with suitable fence in order to avoid
access to unauthorised personnel (children, vandals,
etc.)
A correct circulation of the air is mandatory to
guarantee the good unit operating.
A correct circulation of the air is indispensible to
guarantee the good working order of the machine.
Avoid therefore:
 obstacles to the airflow
 exchange difficulties
 leaves or other foreign bodies that can obstruct
the exchange batteries;
 winds that hinder or favour the airflow
 heat or pollution sources close to the unit
(chimneys, extractors etc);
 stratification (cold air that stagnates at the
bottom);
 recirculation (expelled air that is sucked in
again);
 positioning below the level of the threshold,
close to very high walls, attics or in angles that
could give rise to stratification or recirculation
phenomenons.

Pressure relief valve gas side
The installer is responsible for evaluating the
opportunity of installing drain pipes in compliance with
the local regulations in force (EN 378).
Condensate
When a heat pump is in operation it produces a
considerable amount of water due to the defrosting
cycles of the external coil.
The condensate must be disposed of in order to avoid
damaging people and things.

4WATER CONNECTION
WATER QUALITY
The water quality can be checked by qualified
personnel.
Water with inadequate characteristics can cause.
 pressure drop increase
 energy efficiency decrease
 corrosive symptom increase
Water features
 confirming to local regulations
 Water hardness < 14°fr
 within the limits indicated by table
Anti-freeze solutions
Consider that the use of anti-freeze solution
determines an increase in a pressure drop.
Make sure that the glycol type utilized is inhibited (not
corrosive) and compatible with the hydraulic circuit
components (pump etc).
Do not use different glicol mixture (i.e. ethylic with
propylene)
Water flow-rate
The design water flow-rate must be:
 inside the exchanger operating limits (see the
TECHNICAL INFORMATION chapter)
 guaranteed also with variable system conditions
(for example, in systems where some circuits are
bypassed in particular situations)
Minimum system water content
Minimum system water contents are given in the
‘General technical data’ section and they have to be
satisfied to stop the compressor from continuously
switching on and off.

Provide a water treatment system if values fall outside
the limits.
The warranty does not cover damages caused by
limestone formations, deposits and impurities from the
water supply and/or from failure to clean the systems.
Risk of freeze
If the unit or the relative water connections can be
subject to temperatures close to 0°C
 Mix water with ethylene glycol
 Safeguard the pipes with heating cables placed
under the insulation
 Empty the system in cases of long non-use

Use filter with mesh pitch:
0,5 mm (30 mesh)
 Must be installed immediately in the water input of
the unit, in a position that is easily accessible for
cleaning.
 The filter never should be removed, this operation
invalidates the guaranty

Option.
the management of domestic hot water takes priority over the system.
In DHW production mode, the compressors start only if the DHW storage temperature is above a minimum threshold.
The temperature threshold varies based on the outdoor temperature.
To prevent it from falling below the minimum temperature, it is advisable to install a backup electric heater on the DHW
storage.see KAH2 page 18).

It must be installed on the supply of the unit, as far away as possible.

UNIT IN MODULAR CONFIGURATION
Maximum 4 units in the same water branch.
Maximum total 16 units.
All units must be electrically connected to each other (see ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS chapter)
Each module must be configured with the water fittings for modular unit (AMOD).
Each module can be equipped with inertial system storage tank (ACIMP).
Each unit with DHW option must have its own DHW storage tank.
It is not possible to have a hydronic assembly installed on board.
It is necessary to provide an external pumping unit, sized for the entire capacity of the modular system (responsibility of
the Customer).
The pumping unit will be managed by the Master unit through a potential-free contact and 0-10V signal.
See page 19 for the configuration.

Operations sequence
Before starting the unit pump :
1. Close all vents in the high points of the unit’s water
circuit.
2. Close all drain shut-off valves in the low points of
the unit’s water circuit:
 Exchangers
 Pumps
 manifolds
 storage tanks
 Thoroughly wash the system with clean water:
use the bypass to exclude the exchanger from
the flow (diagram on previous page) fill and
drain the system several times
 Apply additives to prevent corrosion, fouling,
formation of mud and algae.
 Fill the system
 Conduct a leak test.
 Isolate the pipes to avoid heat dispersions and
formation of condensate.
 Leave various service points free (wells, vents, etc).
 Neglecting to wash will lead to the filter having to
be cleaned many times and at worst may damage
the exchangers and other parts

The characteristics of the electrical lines must be
determined by specialized personnel able to design
electrical installations; moreover, the lines must be in
conformity with regulations in force.
The protection devices of the unit power line must be
able to stop the presumed short circuit current, whose
value must be determined in function of system
features.
The power cables and the protection cable section must
be defined in accordance with the characteristics of the
protections adopted.
All electrical operations should be performed by trained
personnel having the necessary requirements by the
regulations in force and being informed about the risks
relevant to these activities.
Operate in compliance with safety regulations in force .

The serial number label reports the unit specific
electrical data, included any electrical accessories .
The electrical data indicated in the technical bulletin and
in the manual refer to the standard unit, accessories
excluded.

CONNECTIONS
Refer to the unit electrical diagram (the number of the
diagram is shown on the serial number label).
Verify that the network has characteristics conforming to
the data shown on the serial number label.
Before starting work, verify that the sectioning device at
the start of the unit power line is open, blocked and
equipped with cartel warning.
Primarily you have to realize the earthing connection
Shelter the cables using adequate measure fairleads.
Before power the unit, make sure that all the protections
that were removed during the electrical connection work
have been restored.
SIGNAL S/DATA LINES
Do not overpass the maximum power allowed, which
varies, according to the type of signal.
Lay the cables far from power cables or cables having a
different tension and that are able to emit
electromagnetic disturbances.
Do not lay the cable near devices which can generate
electromagnetic interferences.
Do not lay the cables parallel to other cables; cable
crossings are possible, only if laid at 90°.
Connect the screen to the ground, only if there aren’t
disturbances
Guarantee the continuity of the screen during the entire
extension of the cable.
Respect impendency, capacity and attenuation
indications.
Power input
Fix the cables: if vacated may be subject to tearing.
The cable must not touch the compressor and the
refrigerant piping (they reach high temparatures).
Remote ON-OFF
Do not perform short On Off cycles
Do not use the remote On Off with thermoregulation

UNITS IN MODULAR CONFIGURATION
Set the correct date and time on each unit before connecting them to the network
Enable multiple configuration:
SW12-2 : ON units in multiple configuration
OFF single unit
The modular configuration consists of two networks, the controller network and the unit network (main boards).
Each network can have up to 16 addresses (from 0 to 15) and must be addressed separately.
Each network has its own master, which must have address 0
If some slaves have no DHW option:
 configure as master a unit without DHW option.
 assign the major addresses to the slaves equipped with DHW option
Addressing units in multiple configuration
They are addressed through the encoder ENC4 on the back of the
keypad.
The address corresponds to the encoder no.
The address is shown on the display DSP1.
MASTER : address = 0 encoder = 0
SLAVE 1 : address = 1 encoder = 1
SLAVE 15 : address = 15 encoder = F
The unit address is shown on the main board in the display called
"DSP1".

Addressing controls
A maximum of 16 controls can be addressed, with address from 0 to 15; so for example :
 16 units with relative controller on board, one of which is the master
 15 units with relative controller on board + a remote controller as the master
Press MENU + ► for 3 seconds
Press ▲▼ to select the address
REMOTE CONTROL
With S5_3 ON, the unit is controlled remotely.
Wired controller disabled
ON/OFF status: controlled by the On/Off input
input ON = unit ON
Heat/Cool mode : controlled by the Heat/Cool input
On = heating, Off = Cooling
With the units in modular configuration, remote control must be applied to the
master unit, which transmits it to the slave units.
After having set S5_3 disconnect and reconnect the power supply to confirm the
change.
