CAUTION
˙Please consider the safety of the patient when using the handpiece.
˙Please remember when the bur is rotating, pressing the chuck push button
that will result in overheating of the handpiece. When pressing the chuck push button, please keep the
handpiece away from the face of the patient.
˙Please use carefully and do not drop the handpiece.
˙Never try to take the handpiece apart or tamper with mechanism.
˙If the handpiece operate irregular, stop using immediately and give back to your dealer for service.
˙When you want to remove the bur, please wait to the handpiece completely stop rotating.
˙Please use burs no longer than 26mm. Do not use no-dental burs.
˙Please look over the overheating, vibration and noise outside the patient’s mouth. If you nd any unusual
situation, please contact with the dealer for service.

2. Connect to the coupling /Disconnect from the coupling
Please check the coupling is securely attached to the handpiece tubing and the drive air pressure is
proper.
Connect (FIG.1)
Connect the handpiece to the coupling and push.
Disconnect (FIG.1)
Pull back the connector ring to release the handpiece from coupling and remove the handpiece
Codent Coupling: pull back connector ring to disconnect the handpiece.

3. Insert & Remove the bur
To insert the bur (FIG.2)
Please press the push button and insert the bur into the chuck. Make sure it is secure and then, release
the button.
To remove the bur (FIG.3)
Please make sure the handpiece is completely stopped rotating then press the push button securely and
remove the bur.
CAUTION
You can pull and push the bur without press the push button for testing the bur is secure.

4. Information about burs
˙Please take notice of the ISO standard shank diameter is Ø 1.59 – Ø1.60mm and use standard burs.
˙Do not use any burs that could cause damage to the handpiece, like worn, damaged, bent or non-
suitable burs.
˙Please make sure the bur speed won’t exceed the standard by the bur manufacturer recommended.
˙Please frequently check the burr shank clean. If anything bring from the burr shank, it will cause
rotation slip and the bur will not be inserted into the chuck completely.
˙Please press the push bottom completely and insert the bur into the chuck securely.
˙Please use the suitable burs in standard head handpiece.

5. Lubricate
Lubricate Codent handpiece by using Codent spray nozzle.
(1)Put on or screw nozzle and then shake the spray can 3-5 times.(FIG.4)
(2)Insert the spray nozzle into the air tube of the handpiece and then spray for 2-3 seconds.(FIG.5)
(3)Spray into the spindle hole for 1-2 seconds every usage.(FIG.6)

CAUTION
˙Be sure to grasp the handpiece securely to prevent sliding from doing spray.
˙Please keep the spray can upright.
˙Please lubricate spindle hole after using the handpiece.
˙If no lubricate the spindle, it will cause damage and Codent has no responsible to the user and the patient.

6. Clean and Sterilize
Autoclave sterilization is strongly recommended.
First time you use and after each patient, please sterilize the handpiece.
※Autoclave procedure :
(1) Use cleaning wire to clean the water spray hole.(FIG.7)
(2) Insert into an autoclave pouch and Close the pouch.
(3) Autoclavable up to max. 135°C. ex.) Autoclave for 20 min. at 120°C or 15 min at 130°C.
(4) Put the handpiece in the autoclave pouch to protect the handpiece and keep it clean.
※Sterilization at 121°C for more than 15 minutes is recommended.

7. Replace the optic illumination bulb
Remove the handpiece from the coupling. Put the coupling into the auxiliary tool and then clockwise
switch the outside socket quick connector. After loose the outside socket quick connector, you can take
out bulb receptacle. Pull out the bulb and then insert a new bulb. Put the bulb receptacle back into the
connector, counter clockwise the outside socket quick connector. Please tighten the outside socket quick
connector completely.(FIG.8)
CAUTION
˙Please don’t touch the glass part of the new bulb.
˙Please make sure you screw the outside socket quick connector tightly. If it is not tightly, it will result in
water and air leakage.

CAUTION
Please check the Taper Ring is completely tightened. If not, air and water leakage could happen.
8. Replace the O-rings
In case of you nd water in the exhaust airline, when replacing the O-rings. There is probably water
leakage within the coupling. When those situations happen, please replace the complete of O-rings.
First, pull out the handpiece from the coupling and then loose and remove the Taper Sleeve at the rear
of the handpiece (FIG.9). Remove every O-ring with your thumb carefully. Insert the complete one in the
right grooves. Change and completely tighten the Taper Ring.(FIG.10)

9. Clean the cellular glass optic rod
Please use a cotton swab with alcohol to clean cellular glass optic and exit point.(FIG.11)
CAUTION
Don’t use any pointy tool to clean the cellular glass optic rod. It will damage the glass and lower the
light transmission.

10. Replace the Turbine Cartridge
Strongly recommended please ask your dealer to replace the turbine cartridge.
(A).Pull out the turbine cartridge from the handpiece. (FIG.12)
a.Please insert the bur into the chuck.
b.Please set the head cap wrench tool on the head cap and then turn it counter- clockwise,
remove the cap.
c.Please lever gently the entire turbine cartridge out of the head by the bur.
d.Please clean out debris from inside the empty head.

(B) Insert a new Codent turbine cartridge. (FIG.13)
a. Please carefully insert the new Codent turbine cartridge into the head part. Please make
sure the turbine cartridge locating pin is aligned in the slot inside the head.
b. Please screw the head cap back into the place by your ngers and then tighten the cap
completely in place by the cap wrench.
CAUTION
˙Please only operate the genuine Codent-manufactured cartridge.
If you use non-Codent product, it will void the warranty and Codent
have no responsible to the user and the patient.
˙Make sure that the head cap screw thread is ne. Please often rst
tighten the handpiece head cap using the ngers, then secure with
the head cap wrench to protect the thread from damage.
˙Check the two O-rings are accurately located on the cartridge.
