Foreword
This installation guide is briefly describing the operational aspects of the SOFTJET GRAND machine. In
this document, the step-wise instructions for installing and operating the various aspects of the
machine with visual screens are provided for easy and better understanding. It also describes the error
messages encountered while working with the machine with appropriate remedial actions required
to be taken by the service engineer.
This guide refers as the reference tool which guides the service engineer how to install the SOFTJET
GRAND machine without anyone else assistance. The information provided in this document ensures
its uniqueness and language quality. For safe and proper use of the product, please read this document
carefully and follow all the instructions.

1. Site Layout

2. Safety Precautions
Before operating the printer and Printer Manager software for the first time, please read the
document carefully and follow all the usage instructions. While using the printer, kindly follow all the
safety instructions which are given below:
Fire Prevention
Inks and solvents must be enclosed in a special storage cabinet for inflammable liquids or within a
separate storage room and must be clearly identified to meet the professional requirements of safety
regulations. Ink storage must be strictly in compliance with local fire regulations for the use and
storage of combustibles.
Ventilation
In order to prevent the danger caused by volatile gas accumulation, the storage room must have
sufficient ventilation.
Note: Solvent gas specific gravity is greater than the air, it would accumulate near the floor.
Installation work in the vicinity of electrical equipment must confirm the GB/T standards, national
electrical regulation requirements for level II sites, and installation by a corresponding qualification of
the professional electrical contractor.
Emergency Stop Button
Sometimes, it may possible that machine behaves unusually. In such situations, immediately press the
Emergency Stop button and shut off the machine using the main power button. Try to resolve the
problem and after confirming it’s safe to restart, gain start the machine and resume operations. The
Emergency Stop button is shown in the image below:

Precautions for Use
Carefully read the instructions given below for the safe use of the machine. Neglecting them can
damage or malfunction the machine or lower down the print quality.
•Avoid direct wind coming from an air blower or air conditioner onto the machine. It can dry
ink in the printer head nozzles, clogging injection ports, lowering print quality, and more.
•Clean the print head, if the printer has not been used for more than a weak to avoid print
head nozzle blockage.
•Don’t apply more pressure while installing the main or sub ink tanks as it can cause ink leakage,
damage the machine, or contaminating the surroundings.
•Use the machine within the specified temperature and humidity range to avoid halt in
operations.
•Use gloves while working with the internal parts of the machine to avoid damage.

Precautions for Fabric Use
Unprinted Fabric (Roll)
To keep the print result last in best conditions, carefully observe the following precautions during the
machine handling:
•Do not use the stain fabric.
•Do not scratch the printing side.
•Moisture transfer to fabric may negatively impact the print quality.
•Carefully hold the edges of the fabric roll. It is recommended to wear cotton gloves while
loading the fabric.
•Fabric surface may get wavy or curved by a sudden temperature and humidity change. When
setting the fabric into the machine, flatten the surface with hands without making any
scratches or stains.
•Do not wet the fabric.
•Keep the box or bag that came with the fabric. They can be used for storage.
•Store fabric in a cool and dry place. Avoid direct sunlight.
•When storing a fabric roll, use the bag that came with it. Put the roll into the bag and store in
a horizontal position.
•Remove the fabric roll from the printer after use. Rewind unused part and wrap the roll into
the bag that came with it for storage.
Printed Fabric (Roll)
Follow the instructions for the printed fabric, as given below:
•Do not rub or scratch the printed fabric.
•Do not touch the printed side of the fabric.
•Let the printed fabric dry completely without folding or piling up.
•Avoid direct sunlight
•When storing printed fabric, follow the instructions that came with fabric to avoid color
change
Precautions for Ink Use
Ink Before Use
Carefully observe the following given instructions for storing ink:
•Store ink in a cool and dry place to avoid direct sunlight.
•Try to finish the opened ink bottle as soon as possible to avoid ink dry situation. If keeping the
opened ink out of necessity, tightly close the container to avoid contact of air.
Ink After Use (Waste Ink)
Printer's waste ink is industrial waste. Thus, it must be disposed according to regulations and local
laws to avoid the environment pollution. If there is any confusion, kindly ask operators for industrial
waste disposal to process waste ink.

3. Safety Requirements
Power Requirements
Before installing the printer, the below mentioned electrical requirements should be confirmed:
•Uninterrupted Power supply of 220V, 32Amps (+ / - 10%), 50Hz.
•Wire gauge to be used should be at least 6sqm, recommended 8sqm.
•32A MCB required for heater power and 16A for Machine Power.
•Exclusive Earthing: It should not be shared with UPS and Building's common Earthing.
•Printer and computer must share same exclusive Earthing.
Proper Earth Connection
The trouble-free printing depends on the earth connection provided to the machine. In some cases,
the media generates static and excessive charges that can damage the Print Head as well as affect the
placement of printing dots. Thus, one should provide the proper earth connection before using the
printer.
Precautions:
•A separate earth connection should be provided to the machine
•The earth resistance should be in the range of 4-5 ohms
•The distance of the PC from the machine should not be more than 2-3 feet
Note: Ensure that the earth point for the Printer and PC should be same for the safety of interfaces.
Air Supply

•Win7 64bit or Windows 10 OS
•Human Input Devices (Keyboard & Mouse)
•HDD/SSD: 200GB or more

Environment Requirements
•Room temperature should be maintained in the range of 18 - 28 Degree Celsius with
humidity 35 - 80% RH.
Note: Printer is equipped with dryers, it may raise the room temperature –A 10%
additional load should be considered when designing the AC.
•There should not be air draught in the room.
•Closed dust-free room exclusive for Printer.

4. Preparation before Installation
To install the printer, you must follow the below mentioned instructions:
•Prepare the site as per the requirements like environmental temperature.
•Configure PC as per the given system specification viz. RAM, operating system, processor, and
storage space.
•Arrange the machine handling tools to avoid delays in unloading.
•Install the Printer Manager software by following all the instructions mentioned in the
Installation Guide.
•If any damage in packaging is found, then immediately report the same to the dealer.
•During the installation, it is preferable that at least two operators are present for training, who
have proficient computer skills and printing experience.
•Keep the consumables like media and inks, ready in advance to avoid any delay in installation.
•While placing the machine, check the labels on the box "right and left" and “front and rear”.
5. Handling Precautions
While handing the printer, the below mentioned instructions should strictly be followed:
•Printer
oPay full attention to the box handling marks
oFollow all the safety and handling precautions
oAvoid excess load on the printer
oDon’t cover the ventilation area of the printer
oProperly cover the printer while it is not in use
oAssemble the printer in the specified site area with relevant temperature and
humidity
oProper power cable fitting and port availability
oCarriage cover should be fixed while printing
•Print Head
oAvoid losses due to Print Heads dry out situations
oClean Print Heads timely to avoid nozzle or any other blockage
oPerform nozzle test every time while start printing
oAppropriately calibrate the Print Head for high-quality printing
•Ink
oUse recommended ink only
oDon’t shake the ink bottle
oStore ink in the mentioned site area to avoid dry or damage

6. Unloading and Unpacking
Packing Details
SOFTJET is shipped in a wooden cage and base called "Pallet". The packing and unpacking dimensions
with weight are given as follow:
•Machine Dimension: 5300 x 1450 x 1650 mm (Length x Width x Height)
•Packing Dimension: 5450 x 1650 x 2020 mm (Length x Width x Height)
•Machine Net Weight: ~1800kg
•Machine Gross Weight: ~2000kg
Tool Requirements
TheTool Requirements are shown as follow:
•Fork lift
•Crane
•Heavy duty lifting belt/sling
•Powered screw/nut driver
•Nut driver
•Spanner
Unloading the Machine
Follow these steps to unload and unpack the machine:
Step 1: Tied the machine using ropes/slings for making a perfect balance for lifting.
Step 2: Unload the machine using the container or lorry.
Step 3: Machine should be kept on leveled and cleaned surface or floor.
Now, the machine gets unloaded.
Unpacking the Machine
Follow these steps to unpack the machine for wooden packing:
Step 1: Remove the 5x38mm screws from all the wooden plank side walls using the Nut Driver of 8mm
Bit.
Step 2: Remove the 6x80 mm (8nos) screws from the printer box using the 10mm Bit.
Step 3: Remove the top cover of the printer box.
Step 4: Remove the 6x80 mm screws from all side poles (8nos) using the 10mm Bit.
Step 5: Remove the 10x20 mm screws of open able stand offs (2nos at back side) from the base pallet
using the 10mm Bit.
Now, the machine gets unpacked.
Caution:
Do not move or unload the machine before ensuring that the place where the machine is landed, is
even or level.

Precautions:
•Do not lift from the extreme ends of the machine
•Do not tilt the machine
•Do not drop the machine
•Do not climb or stack anything over the roof
Getting the Printer Ready
Follow these steps to make the printer ready for use:
Step 1: Verify the environmental requirements for the machine-like room temperature and make the
adjustment accordingly.
Step 2: Place the machine in an even place as per given Site Layout.
Step 3: Unwrap the machine and check the machine internal parts as well as accessories box.
Step 4: Open the Carriage Lock Brackets, as shown in the image below:

Step 5: Move the carriage gently to check, if the carriage path is free from obstacles.
Step 6: Mount LCD monitor using the screws provided with the machine.
Step 7: Connect computer system to the monitor and machine.

Step 8: Level the machine using the inside and outside levelers. The Machine Levelers are shown as
follow:

Step 9: Switch on the printer and wait for the complete initialization of it.
Step 10: Check and verify the settings of attached parts of the printer viz. Heater, Take Up, Supply,
etc.
Step 11: Install the Printer Manager software and RIP software for printing. Please refer to the
Installing the Printer Manager section for more details.
Step 12: Issue a dry print command to check whether the printer works well.
Step 13: Fill ink in the main tank and sub tank. Please refer to the “Ink Filling” section to fill ink.
Step 14:Install the Print Head, please refer to the Head Installation section to install the Print Head.
Step 15: For test printing, perform the Nozzle Test and verify the result.
Now, the printer gets ready for use.

7. Installing the Printer Manager
Before installing the Printer Manager software, please confirm that the DotNet Framework is
available in your system. If it is not installed, then first install it.
With the Printer Manager, you need to install the following:
•DotNet framework
•USB Driver
Let’s discuss the installation process in details.
Follow these steps to install the Printer Manager software:
Step 1: Verify whether DotNet framework is installed in your computer system or not. If not, then first
install the framework using the CD or download the installer from the below mentioned link:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=17718 and follow the instructions
appear on the screen.
Step 2: Copy and paste the Printer Manager software from the CD to the secure location.
Step 3: Double-click on the Printer Manager software (.exe file) icon, as shown below:

On-clicking the Printer Manager icon, the Startup screen appears, as shown below:

Step 4: Click on the Next to confirm that you want to install the Printer Manager software and follow
all the instructions appear on the screen.
Now, the Printer Manager gets installed successfully and displayed the Ready status. In case, if it is
not properly installed, then the status is Offline. To open the Printer Manager, click on the Printer
Manager icon. The Printer Manager window appears on the screen, as shown below:

Note: USB driver is automatically installed with the Printer Manager software. If not, then follow the
below given steps.
Step 5: Open Device Manager, right-click on the My Computer icon and select the Manage option
from the context menu, as shown below:

Step 6: Select the Device Manager option from the Computer Management window (Refer to Fig 9).
The Device Manager and its related options get expanded on the middle pane of the Computer
Management window, as shown below:

Step 7: Select the Wide-Format Printer option under Other devices and right-clicked on it. The context
menu appears on the screen.
Step 8: Select the Update Driver Software option from the context menu, as shown below:

The Update Driver Software window appears, as shown below:

Step 9: Select the Browse my computer for driver software option from the Update Driver Software
window (Refer to Fig 11).
Step 10: Select the location where the driver software is stored by clicking on the Browse button, as
shown below:

Step 11: Click on the OK button to start the driver update process (Refer to Fig 12). The process gets
started for updating the driver software and the process progress screen appears, as shown below:

Now, the driver updating process gets completed successfully, as shown below:

On completing the process, click on the Close button to close the process.

Printer Manager Settings
Printer Settings
This option enables users to update the default settings of the printer viz. Print, Move, Preference,
and Calibration. To open the Setting window, click on the Main Menu→Setting→Edit path. The
Setting window appears on the screen, as shown in the image below:

Describing the different sections of the Setting window, as given below:
•Print setting
oAuto skip white: Enable to auto skip the white space in the image during printing.
oStep Time: Set time interval of the feed motor during printing.
oJob Space: Set space between multiple jobs.
oFeather: Select the type of feather effect and intensity percentage of the feather.
oMultiple Ink: Enable to select the color depth of an image according to the passes.
The available options are Default, Double, and More.
•Color Bar
oSpace: Specify the distance of the color bar from the image.
oWidth: Set width of the color bar.
oPlacement: Enable or disable the color bar and its placement viz. left, right, or both.
oHeight same with image: If enabled, the height of the color bar is same as the image
height.
•Spray setting
oAuto Spray: Set the duration (number of passes) for auto spraying.
oSpray Period: Define the duration for spraying (set as 180). If the duration increased,
spray frequency gets decreased.
oPrint Pre-spray Time: This option works when the Spray Before Print option is
enabled and used for defining the duration, if spray before issuing the Print command.
oIdle Spray: Spray during carriage at home position. This option must be enabled.
oSpray Before Print: This option works with the Print Pre-spray Time option. When
enabled, one can specify the duration, if spray before issuing the Print command.

The Move tab is shown in the image below:

Using the Move tab, the Y Speed can be updated as per the requirements.
The Preference tab is shown in the image below:

Using the Preference tab, the measuring unit can be set or changed.
Save to Printer
After making the desire changes in the printer settings, save these settings into the printer for future
usage. To save the settings to the printer, click on the Main Menu→Setting→Save To Printer path, as
shown below:
