Thispatentedmethodofmixingairandabrasivesdeliversasteadier,moreconsistentstreamofabrasive
allowingyoutoprocesspartsefficientlyandwithuniformresults.Here’swhyitworkssomuchbetterthan
othermicro‐abrasiveblasters.
HowdoesSimoom®technologywork?
Activatedtheblastandthemodulatoropensandcloses50or60timespersecond(dependingonlocal
powersuppliedat50Hzor60Hz),producingpulsesintheairstream.Therapidchangeinairpressure
fluidizestheabrasiveabovetheorifice.Thepowderisthendrawnthroughtheorificeintothemixing
chamberwhereitenterstheairstreamandexitstheAccuFlo®throughthePowderGate®valvetravelingout
tothenozzle.
Thestrengthofthesemodulatedpulseandthediameteroftheorificedeterminestheamountofabrasive
thatdropsintothemixingchamber.Threemechanismsenableyoutochangetheamountofabrasiveinthe
airstream:thetankorifice,abrasiveblendandbypasstube.
TankOrifice: Alargerorificeincreasesabrasiveflow.Inmostcasestheorificeshouldbeatleast5timesthe
sizeoftheaverageparticlesize,butnotlargerthanthenozzle.
BypassTube:Thebypasstubecreatesanalternatepathforthemodulatorpulses,bypassingtheorifice.A
largerbypasstubedampenstheimpactofeachpulse,reducingmediaflow.
AbrasiveBlend:Theabrasiveblendchangesthestrengthofthepulsebyallowingsomeairtobypassthe
modulator.Withlessairpassingthroughthemodulator,thepulseweakensandlessabrasiveisfedintothe
airstream.Theabrasiveblendvalveallowsyoutofinetunetheabrasiveflow.

BlastControl:Pin1provides115VACpowerfromtheAccuFlo.Thehostmustprovideaswitchtoputthis
voltagebackintoPin2,whichwillcausetheblastertoblast.WhenPin2isleftfloating,theblasterwillnot
blast.200mAofcurrentistypical.
PE: Pin4providesanoptionalbondingpathtoPrimaryEarththroughtheAccuFlo.Ifthehostisotherwise
bondedtoPE,donotusethispin.
RegulatorControl:Theregulatormustbepoweredby24vdcthroughPin7andgroundthroughPin6.The
regulatorrequires60mAofcurrent.Theblastpressureissetbyprovidinga0‐10vdcsignalatPin8,which
correspondstoapressureof0‐148psi.Theinternalresistanceoftheregulator’sinputis100ohmsminimum.

CablingandcontroldependsonhowtheuserdesirestocontroltheAF10‐E.Usetheabovetableto

•Istheairlineconnected?Aretheupstreamvalvesopen?
Checktheinletairsupply.
•Doyouhearairescapingfromtheunitwhenitisturnedon?
Checkthattheinletair,venthose,andabrasivehoseexitingthePowderGate®valveareconnectedproperly.
Seetheset‐upguideonpages4and5.Makesurethetankcoverissecurelyfastened.
Ifyouaregettingairthroughthenozzle,butnoabrasive;orifthecuttingactiondecreases:
•Isthepowdertankempty?Refill.
•Istheabrasiveinthetankdampandstickingtothewalls?
Replacewithfreshpowder.Checkthatyourairdryerisworkingproperly.
•Isthetankorificeplugged?
Emptypowder,removeorifice,andinspect.Checktoseeifyoursupplierofabrasivepowderisprovidinghigh
qualitymaterial.FordetailsseetheSupportsectiononourwebsite.
•Isthemodulatorfunctioningproperly?
Youshouldhearabuzzingsoundwhentheblastisactivated.Ifnot,themodulatormayneedtobereplaced.

•Isthenozzleplugged?Removeandinspect.

WhenthePowderGate®valvecloses,placeafingerovertheendofthenozzlefor3seconds.Whenyouremove
yourfinger– isthereasmallpuffofair?Ifso,therearetwopossibilities:
•ThePowderGate®noseiswornandcanbereplacedasdescribedabove.
•Theabrasivemixturemaybetoorich.ReduceAbrasiveBlendadjustmentonfrontpanel,orchecktheBypass
TubeChartforaleanermixturetohandleyournozzlesize.
PreventMoistureandOilContamination
Contaminationoftheabrasivepowderfrommoistureand/oroilisoneofthemostcommonproblems
associatedwithmicro‐abrasiveblasting.Moisturewillcausethepowderto“clumpup,”preventingitfrom
flowingfreelyfromthetank.
Moisturewillcausethepowderto"clumpup"preventingitfromflowingfreelyfromthetank.
Oilintheairsupplywillnotonlyaffectabrasiveflow,itcanalsocausemajorcomponentfailureswithinyour
blaster,resultingincostlyrepairs.
Toavoidmoistureandoilcontamination,runyourairsupplythroughapositiveairdryerequippedwithan
appropriateoilfilter.

TheComcoWarranty
ComcowarrantsthattheAccuFlo®modelAF10‐Ewillbefreefromalldefectsinmaterialandworkmanship
undernormaluseforaperiodofoneyearfromthedateofpurchaseor2,000hoursofnormaloperation,
whichevercomesfirst.
ThewarrantyperiodbeginswhentheequipmentshipsfromtheComcofacilityandappliestotheoriginal
owneronly.Comco isnotliablefordamagesfromanycauseoruseofsuchequipmentbeyondthecostof
repairinganydefectiveparts.
Iftheequipmentfailstoperformsatisfactorilyduringthewarrantyperiod,Comcohastheoptiontodoany
oneofthefollowing:1)Sendreplacementpartstothecustomertobeinstalledbythecustomer;2)Repair
theunitatthecustomer’sfacility;or3)RequestthattheunitbereturnedtotheComcofactory.Any
replacementpartsshallbefurnishedbyComcowithoutcost,F.O.B.theComcofactoryinBurbank,California,
providedthatComcoisnotifiedofthedefectwithinthewarrantyperiod.Anydefectivepartsshallbe
returnedtoComcoforinspectionandanalysis.
Exclusions
Theabovewarrantydoesnotapplytodefectsorproblemsresultingfromimproperorinadequate
maintenancebythecustomer;unauthorizedmodificationormisuse;failuretofollowtheoperating
instructions;theuseofanysuppliesorparts,includingbutnotlimitedtonozzles,powders,andattachments,
notmanufacturedorsuppliedbyComco.
Thewarrantyalsodoesnotcoverproblemsresultingfromimproperorinadequatefacilities(contaminated
air;improperpower)oritemsthatshouldbeexpectedtowearinnormaloperation,suchasnozzles,
abrasives,tubingorfittings.
ThisisComco’sonlywarrantyandisinlieuofallotherwarrantiesofmerchantabilityandfitnessforany
particularpurpose.Norepresentationsorwarrantiesareauthorizedexceptashereinstated.

workstationwithdustcollection.
Neverblasttowardsomeone’sfaceoreyes.Thisisa
pressuredevice.
TheLexanwindowonthetankcoverisabrasion
resistant.However,contactwithcertainchemicalscan
weakenthecoverandcauseittocrack.
Inspectthecoverdailyandreplaceimmediatelyif
cracksdevelop.
