Conversation control
Headset operation
For this feature to work, a headset must be connected to the GEC 881/GEC 882. Headphones without
microphones are not recognised and therefore not supported.
Button Function Display LED
1Press to start a conversation (bidirectional connection) between the
operator station on the service side and the client side. The LED
turns red.
ACTIVE (during
conversation)
3Press to stop the conversation. STDBY
(in standby)

Press to mute the service-side microphone (possible only during
conversations).
After pressing the button, the client side will be audible for the ser-
vice side, but the service side will not be audible for the client side.
This feature is known as “cough button” and is used to suppress
unwanted noise or conversation on the service side.
By pressing the mute button again, the bidirectional connection is
re-established.

Connect headset: The counter Intercom station recognises the
headset and switches to HEADSET MODE. HS ON
Disconnect headset: The counter Intercom station switches back to
NORMAL MODE (internal microphone and loudspeaker). HS OFF

Press to toggle between normal operation and HEADSET MODE
manually.
HEADSET MODE is automatically activated by connecting a headset
and automatically deactivated by disconnecting it.
Attention: HEADSET MODE is not shown in standby. It is not pos-
sible to switch to HEADSET MODE when no headset is connected
(display: “NO HS”).
