1. INTRODUCTION
This instruction sheet covers installation and removal
of the DCR kits shown in Figure 1. The DCR kits
accept 3--conductor undercarpet cable size 10 or 12
AWG. The blank side of the combination DCR kit
accepts Modular Jack Kits 558054--1 (Category 5e)
and 1933377--1 (Category 6) available separately.
Modular Jack Bracket Assembly 1499543--1 (used to
mount the jack to the mounting plate) is also available
separately.
Undercarpet Hold--Down Tape 553481--1 is availabe
for securing the cable to the floor.

2. DESCRIPTION
Each DCR kit consists of one or two mounting plates,
one or two duplex receptacle assemblies, a cover, four
top shield bonding clips, and attaching hardware.
3. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY, disconnect the
electrical power before beginning work on any
circuit.
3.1. Single or Dual Duplex DCR Kit
1. Center the mounting plate on a chalk line using
the center indicator marks. Use the mounting plate
as a template to mark the mounting hole locations.
Prepare the surface (drill holes for the customer--
supplied mounting hardware and vacuum debris).

2. Lay the 3--conductor undercarpet power cable,
bottom vinyl shield first, onto the floor.
For slab--on--grade installation, install Floor
Preparation 554123--[ ] according to 408--3154
prior to laying the cable.
To avoid damage from from moisture, chemical
reaction, or abrasion, the floor preparation must
be installed prior to laying the cable for
slab--on--grade installation.
Check to make sure that the four top shield
bonding clips are on the mounting plate.

is also available separately.

3. Slide the mounting plate between the bottom
vinyl shield and the cable. Secure the mounting
plate to the floor using the mounting hardware. See
Figure 3.
4. Cut the top vinyl shield at the center of the
mounting plate.

5. For feed--through application:
a. Lay the top shield over the top vinyl shield,
mark it at the cut line indicators (on mounting
plate), then cut the top shield. Slide the top
shield under top shield bonding clips. See
Figure 4.
b. Fold the top vinyl shield back over the top
shield, and tape it in place. See Figure 4.
c. Tape the top shield to the floor.
d. Remove the label from the bottom of the
duplex receptacle assembly.
e. Observe the polarity and align the receptacle
assembly over the mounting plate so that the
bosses on the bottom of the receptacle
assembly will enter the blank holes in the
mounting plate. See Figure 5.
6. For dead--end application:
a. Cut the cable square about 6.4 mm [.25 in.]
from the end of the mounting plate. See
Figure 5.

b. Slide the bottom vinyl shield under the
mounting plate and fold the top vinyl shield
back. Observe polarity and insert the end of the
cable into the slot in the bottom of the
receptacle assembly.
c. Install the top shield and receptacle assembly
onto the mounting plate as described in Step 5.
As an option, run the cable 25.4 mm [1 in.] past
the receptacle assembly and insulate the end
using Insulator 556411--1 (available separately)
or electrical tape.
7. Thread, but do not tighten, the two outer screws
of the receptacle assembly shown in Figure 5.
8. Open the receptacle assembly cover to expose
the center screw. Place the screwdriver on the
screw and manually tap it. See Figure 6. Tighten
the center screw, close the cover, then tighten the
outer screws. Tighten screws to a torque of
2.26 Nm [20 in.--lbs].

9. Place the cover over the receptacle(s), and
secure it to mounting plate using the attaching
hardware. See Figure 7.

3.2. Combination DCR Kit
1. Install the mounting plate and receptacle
assembly as described in Paragraph 3.1.
2. If installing a modular jack(s), install the modular
jack mounting plate using the adhesive--backed
foam tape or customer--supplied mounting
hardware, then proceed as follows:
a. Center the modular jack bracket over the
scribe lines of the mounting plate, then secure it
using the adhesive--backed foam tape (provided
with the bracket). See Figure 8, Detail A.
b. Terminate the undercarpet twisted--pair cable
to the modular jack according to the instructions
included with the modular jack.
c. Insert the modular jack into the bracket with
the movable latch facing the base of the bracket
until it is secure. Using tape, secure the cable to
the floor. See Figure 8, Detail B.

d. Remove the break--out tab(s) from the cover
that correspond to the modular jack(s). See
Figure 8, Detail C.
3. Secure the cover to the mounting plate using
the attaching hardware. See Figure 9.

4. REMOVAL
TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY, disconnect the
electrical power before beginning work on any
circuit.
1. Remove the attaching hardware securing the
cover to the mounting plate, then remove the
cover. Refer to Figure 10.
2. Remove the two outer screws of the receptacle
assembly, open the cover, then remove the center
screw from the receptacle assembly. Lift the
receptacle assembly from the mounting plate.
3. Remove the tape from the top shield within 0.6
to 0.9 m [2 to 3 ft] of the mounting plate, and slide
the top shield out of the top shield bonding clips.
4. Remove the hardware securing the mounting
plate and slide the mounting plate out from
between the cable and bottom vinyl shield.

5. Lay the top shield and top vinyl shield back
away from the installation.
6. Install Floor Fitting Patch Kit 1479151--1
according to 408--8635.
For dead--end application, trim the cable to
eliminate the hole; then install the cable
insulators.
DO NOT repair or re--use components after
removal.
