upwards and secure them using the pins and R-clips supplied. (Fig 1.2)
3. Then connect the four remaining rocker assemblies to the struts using the
40mm pins and R-clips supplied.
4. Connect the sling to the liing points of the panel facing downwards and li
it into posion above the struts.
5. Lower the plate carefully, guiding the runners onto the four upright
strut assemblies.
6. Secure the struts to the panel with the remaining four pins and R-clips.
(Fig 1.3)

Important Installaon Notes
• All personnel involved in installaon must wear relevant personal protecve
equipment.
• Never enter an unsupported excavaon.
• Stage 6 should be carried out when the top of the base is approximately
200mm above ground level.
• It is mandatory to use edge protecon when carrying out trench support.
Installaon Instrucons
1. Excavate the ground to approximately 1m or deeper, as ground condions
permit.
2. Ensure spoil is discharged away from the edge of the trench.
3. Aach a cered 4 leg chain sling of the correct volume and lower the box
into the excavaon.
4. Backll against the sides of the panels.
5. The excavator operator digs progressively between the two faces of the box
panels.
6. Then uses the back of the bucket to push down on the 4 corners of the box in
turn. This is known as the ‘dig and push’ technique.
7. Connue to perform the ‘dig and push’ installaon technique unl the box is
at the required depth.
8. Conquip recommend the base box protrudes 1m above ground level before
adding an extension box to act as a safety barrier.
9. To add an extension box, aach the connectors to each corner inside the
base box and secure with pins and R-clips.
10. Aach a cered 4 leg chain of the correct volume to the extension box and
lower it on top of the base box.
11. To secure the Manhole Box, add Conquip Edge Protecon panels. Complete
the nal ‘dig and push’ unl the top of the Manhole Box is at ground level.
Ensure the force is applied to the edge of the box panels, not the Edge
Protecon panels.

2. Aach a cered liing chain to one of the liing points of the End Panel and
slowly li to loosen the ground.
3. Repeat this process on the opposite liing point, then alternate between the
two unl the top panel is 90cm above ground level.
4. Aach a suitably rated 2 leg chain to the corner liing points of the End
Panel. Slowly li it away from the excavaon and lay on mber bearers.
5. Backll inside the Manhole Box.
6. Aach a cered liing chain to one of the top liing points on the extension
box.
7. Slowly li the corner of the extension box.
8. Repeat this process for each liing point in turn unl the extension box is
90cm above the ground.
9. Loosen the telescopic clamps and remove the Edge Protecon panels.
10. Backll the excavaon.
11. Reaach a cered liing chain to one of the top liing points on the
extension box.
12. Li the corner of the extension box. Repeat this process for each liing point
in turn unl the base box is 90cm above ground level.
12. Conquip recommend using End Panels to secure the excavaon and prevent
potenal cave-ins.
13. To assemble, lay on mber bearers and connect to each other using the
plates, bolts, and nuts.
14. Aach a suitably rated 2 leg chain to the top liing points of the End Panels
