Thank you for purchasing the CONTEC PC-HDD40G. Please use
this product in accordance with the procedures described in this
document.
General Caution
- Do not apply pressing force on the top of cover (See Figure 1. on
page 2).
- Do not cover the breathing hole on the top cover (See Figure 2. on
page 2).
- Do not touch the interface connector pins and the surface of printed
circuit board.
- Hard disk are precision instruments. Be extremely careful in
handling during and after assembly.
- The drive can be easily damaged by shocks or ESD (Electrical
Static Discharge), so any damages applied to the drive after taking
out from shipping package and opening ESD protective bag are
user’s responsibilities.
- Be sure to turn off the power of the unit when plugging in or
unplugging connectors.
- Use the mounting screws (M3x5 with sw, w : for screwing the base)
provided with the product. Longer screws may damage the interior
of the product.
- CONTEC bears absolutely no responsibility for use if modified hard
disk.
- This hard disk drive (HDD) has not guaranteed use by continuation
operation and continuation power for 24 hours. When it is used by
continuation operation and continuation power a life fails extremely.
In the case of a 24-hours operation system, use of our company
silicon disk drive is recommended.
-The life of a hard disk drive changes with environment or operating
conditions. As a standard, power time (motor-on time) below
333hours/month (below 11 hours/day), disk access time is 20% or less, it
becomes which for 20,000 hours (power time) or five years, or an early
thing.

Absolutely No Impact!
Excessive impact (greater than 1000G;1ms or 120G;11ms), if this hard
disk is subjected to, might cause a fatal error that is not recoverable.
When transporting, avoid leaving the disk in the equipment. Instead,
use the box the product came in. An impact of 100G is equivalent to
the impact when dropped from a height of about 1cm.
Unaccommodated host PCs
You can not use this drive when if you use these host PCs.

Limited One-Year Warranty
CONTEC Interface boards are warranted by CONTEC to be free from
defects in material and workmanship for up to one year from the date
of purchase by the original purchaser.
Replacement or repair will be free of charge only when this device is
returned to CONTEC freight prepaid with the original invoice.
This warranty is not applicable for scratches or normal wear, but only
for the electronic circuitry and original boards. The warranty is not
applicable if the device has been tampered with or damaged through
abuse, mistreatment, neglect, or unreasonable use, or if the original
invoice is not included, in which case repairs will be considered
beyond the warranty policy. If replacement with a new device is
needed, regular factory prices will be charged, the product will be
returned to you COD, and no other written warranty will apply.
The obligation of the warrantor is solely to repair or replace the
product. In no event will the warrantor be liable for any incidental or
consequential damages due to such defect or consequences that arise
from inexperienced usage, misuse, or malfunction of this device.
How to Obtain Service
For replacement or repair, return the device freight prepaid, with a
copy of the original invoice. Please obtain a Return Merchandise
Authorization Number (RMA) from our Sales Administration
Department before returning any product. No product will be
accepted without an RMA number.
