USINGTHE2-WAYPAGERTRANSMITTER
The 2-WayLCD Pager remotetransceiver isused tosend and receiveinformation fromthe vehicle. The
ControlModuletransmitsHigh FrequencyFMsignalsfromthe vehicletoyour pager over long distances. Your
range will varydepending on location, terrain, and localRFnoise/interference. Thissystemisnot guaranteed to
page you if you are behind concretewalls, underground, inalarge structure, or inan area withhigh levelsof
electronicinterference. Handlethe pager/remotewithcare. The LCD displayand/or the electronics maybe
damaged if subjected toabuse.
BATTERYCHARGING
The2-WayLCDremotehasabatterychargeindicatorontop rightcorner ofdisplay.The batteryvoltage affectsthe
distanceoftheremotecontrol.ThesystemcomeswithastandardMiniUSBchargingcablethatplugsintothe side
of remotecontrol. Toaccess toUSB plug, slide the cover tothe left shownbelow.
SETTINGTHECLOCK (2-WAY- LCD REMOTE)
1.Press VEHButton on the side of the remotecontrol5times.
2.The remotewill beep and the AMorPM displaywill beginflashing.
3.Press the TrunkButton togo tothe next item –AM-PM-Hour-Minutes.
4.Press the Lock Button to Increase time.
5.Press the Unlock Button to decrease time.
6.Press the Start Button to DisableorEnableBeepand Vibration. See next page.
7.Press the VEHButton to Save and ExitSetup orwait 8seconds, the LCD light will turnoff.

The LCD pager remoteBEEPS and VIBRATES when it receivesasignalfromthe vehicle. The Beepsand
Vibration are selectable(on/off). Toenter programmode,
1.Press VEHButton on the side of the remotecontrol5times.
2.The remotewill beep and the AMorPM displaywill beginflashing.
3.Press the Start button tochoosethe mode of “Beep ON/OFF &VibrateON/OFF”.
4.Press the VEHButton to Save and ExitSetup orwait 8seconds, the LCD light will turnoff.
Mode 1: The remotebeepsonceand vibrates: thisindicates“Beep ON&VibrateON”.
Mode 2: The remotebeepsoncewithout vibration; thisindicates“Beep ON&VibrateOFF”.
Mode 3: The remoteonlyvibrates, without beep; thisindicates“Beep OFF &VibrateON”.
Mode 4: The remotedoesnot vibrateor beep; thisindicates“Beep OFF &VibrateOFF”.

The 1-Waysidekick remoteaddsflexibilitytoyoursystem.You can havethe convenienceofoperating yoursystemwithoutneeding
tocarrythe largerpagerremote.The Sidekick remotehasless range and offersall ofthe sameoperation featuresexceptforpage-
back confirmation. The 1-WaySidekick Remoteusesthree CR-2016 Lithium3Volt Batteries.
To replace thebatteryon Sidekick:
Simplyremovethe twoPhillipsscrewsholding the back coverinplace.Side oldbatteriesoutand removeplasticcover.Insertthe
newbatteriesintoplasticcoverand slide intoplacewiththe (+)end facing up.The plasticcoverkeepsthebatteriesfromshortingout
against the side of metalhousing.

REMOTESTART&TRUNK POP–Button Press Selection (Option #6):
Toeliminatethe possibilityofaccidentallyopening the trunkor starting the vehicle,there are (3) optionsfor button
press selection.Thisoption will allowyou tochange whether the Remotestarter and Trunkreleaseactivatebya:
1.Doublebutton -Twopresses.
2.*Single½second press (Default).
3.Press and Hold2seconds.
*Default=1singlepress*
REMOTEENGINESTARTING –SUCCESSFULSTART:
1) Press the remotestartbutton for atleast½second (*default).Parking lightsflashonce,return solid,and the
Ignition/Acc circuitsturn on.
2) After afewsecondsthe Starter Motor engages.The parking lightsand Acc circuitswill turn off whilecranking.
3) Engine Startsand Runs. Parking Lightsand ACC turnsbackon, and the doorslock.
4) Engine will remainrunning for programmed run timeuntil resetwithBrakepedal.Ifneeded,the engine can be
turned off withremotetransmitter bypressing and releasing the Start button.

REMOTEENGINECONTROL
REMOTEENGINESTARTING –UNSUCCESSFULSTART
Inthe eventthatthe engine doesnotstarton the firstattempt, the systemshutsdownfor afewseconds,then
attemptstorestartthe engine a2nd and 3rd time.Forhardstartingengines,theunitwillallowastarter cranktimeof
upto4secondsmaximum.Thisshouldprovideamplecrankingtimefordifficultstarts,butislimitedto4secondsto
helpprevent damage tothe starter fromover cranking.
1) If engine startson 2nd or 3rd attempt, see steps3&4of “SuccessfulStart”on page 4.
2) IfThird attemptfailstostartengine,the systemwill turn off and doorswill remainlocked.NOFURTHER
ATTEMPTSWILL BE MADEAUTOMATICALLY
TURNING OFF AREMOTESTARTEDENGINE:
1) Engine isrunning inRemoteStart (Parking lightsON).
2) Press and releasethe remotestart button or doublepress (If option #6 ison).
3) Engine &parking lightsOFF, Doorsre-lock/re-arm(programmable).
ENTERING YOUR REMOTESTARTEDVEHICLE:
1) Withengine running, unlocksystemwithremote(If equipped) or open door withkey.
2) Enter vehicleand be carefulnot tostep on brakepedal!(RemoteStart Reset)
3) Turn Ignition toON/RUN position, then press brakepedaltoreset the RemoteStarter &Shift out of park.
4) Remotestarter will resetinstantlywhen the brakeispressed.Parking lightswill turn off and the ignition keyis
nowcontrolling your vehicle.
REMOTESTART RUN TIMERESET:
The RemoteStart Run Timeisadjustablefrom5to30 minutes(option #20). Somelocalcities
havearun timelimit for unattended vehicle. You can nowreset the engine-run timer toallowfor more running
timeafter remotestart hasalreadyoccurred using the remotecontrol. After asuccessfulremotestart, press
boththe Lock&Unlockbuttonstogether for at least 2seconds. The parking lightswill flash3timesand
internalengine timer will reset backtozero minutes.
LOCK withREMOTESTARTand AfterREMOTESTARTABORT:
Option#8controlswhetherthesystemwillautomaticallylockduringand after aremoteStartabortortime-out.This
feature can be turned OFF. The default isLockwithRemoteStart.

IDLEDOWNMODE:
Thismodeallowstheunittotakeoveroperationoftheparked vehiclewhilethe ignition keyisremoved andyouexit
the vehicle.The vehiclewill remainrunning for the programmedtimeoruntilcanceled.TheRunTimechoicesare:
10, 20, 30 minutesor InfinityRun. Default=20 minutes
Examples:
•You pull up toaconveniencestore for aquick stop,“IdleDown”mode keepsengine running when you exitthe
vehicle,(withkeysinhand)remotelockdoors.Whenyoureturn,unlock,turn ignition ONanddriveaway.NOTE:
If lock button ispressed twicein“IdleDown”mode, the remotestart will abort.
IDLEDOWNMODE–EXITING THEVEHICLE:
1) Withvehicleengine running withkey, press the RemoteStart button for at least one second or twiceif set for
Doublepress.
2) Parking Lightswill turn ON.
3) Doorswill unlock, or if brakepedalisbeing depressed, doorswill unlockwhen it isreleased.
4) Turn OFF Ignition and removekey. Engine shouldremainrunning.
5) Exit vehicleand remotelockdoorsif desired. Locking doorsa2nd timeabortsremotestart.
6) Engine will remainrunning for programmed run timeor until you return (whichever comesfirst).

IdleDowncanbeprogrammedforINFINITYRUN.Thisallowsthevehicleengine toremainrunningINDEFINITELY
withouttheignitionkeyintheswitch.Theparking lightscontinuouslyflashinthismode.Thismodecanbebeneficial
tolawenforcement or commercialtrucksthat need toremainrunning unattended for long periodsof time.

REMOTEENGINECONTROL
SELECTABLEHOURLYCOLD-STARTMODE(1-4 HOURS)
Thismode allowsthe vehicletobe programmed toself-startevery1,2,3or 4hoursand run for the programmed
run time. Thiscan be helpfulduring extremelycoldconditionswhere engine fluidfreeze-up isaconcern.
TIMEDSELF-STARTMODE–Exiting theVehicle:
1) Engine shouldbe running withthe Key.Press the RemoteStartbutton for atleast1second.Lightswill turn on
signaling the remotestart hasturned on and doorswill unlock.
2) Within10 secondspress and releasethe valet/programbutton oncefor eachhourlyincrement(1 time=1hour,
2X=2hours, 3X=every3hours, 4X=every4hours).
3) Parking Lightswill turn ONwhen the button ispressed and flashoncefor eachconsecutivebutton press.
4) Turn Ignition switchOFF, removekeyand exit the vehicle. Engine shouldremainrunning.
5) Onceoutside the vehicle,press and releasethe remotestartbutton toturn off engine.The parking lightswill
flashthe number of timesindicating the hourlyincrement for confirmation. The vehiclewill startbyitselfatthe
selected hourlyincrement until driven withkeyor started viathe remotecontrol.

RESETTING TIMEDSELF-STARTMODE:
Toreset the timed self-start mode, start vehicleusing the ignition keyor the remotecontrol.

TURBOTIMERMODE(Option 22)
The optionalTurbo Timer mode allowsthe CoolStart systemtokeep aTurbo or Turbo Dieselvehiclerunning
for 1, 3or 5minutes[selectively] after you removethe keyand exit the vehicle. Thisishandyfor turbo cool-
downwithout the need for expensiveturbo timers. The Default=OFF.
To Activate Turbo Timer:
Withthe engine running bykey, press Remote StartButton withbrake pedal depressed. Asyou releasethe
brakepedal, the Parking Lightsand StatusLEDwill blinkthe number of minutesfor the Turbo Timer setting.
The doorsunlockafter confirmation.

MANUAL TRANSMISSIONMODE(Option 11)
MANUALTRANSMISSIONEXITPROCEDURE(Option #11-1 and 11-3)
ThissystemfeaturesaManualTransmission Mode. When exiting the vehicle, there isasafetycheckout
procedure required for the manualtransmission mode towork. There are 2choicesof operation:
1. Option 11-1: Withengine running and vehicleinneutral,setparking brake,then press “KEY” Icon on
transmitter. The remotestarter will turn on and takeover operation of the vehicle.
2. Option 11-3: Withengine running and vehicleinneutral, set parking brake. The remotestarter will turn on
and takeover operation of the vehicle.
3. Removekey, exit vehicle(remotestarter unit must “SEE”door opened, then closed withengine running).
4. Press Lockbutton within10 secondsofclosing door for “IdleDown”(enginestaysrunning).PressLocka2nd
timetocancel“IdleDown” (engine turnsoff)and set up ManualTransmission Mode.
5. Press Lockbutton after 10 secondstoLockthe doorsand shutdowntheengine.Fromthispoint,thesystem
will remotestart the engine unless adoor isopened.
6. Press the RemoteStartButton after closing door tosetup ManualTransmission Mode withoutLocking or
Arming OEMAlarmSystem.
TURBO TIMERinManual Transmission Mode:
ForTurboTimer,pressbrakepedalbeforesettingparking brake,then press the RemoteStartIcon (requiresTurbo
Timer Option #22).After exiting vehicle,press lockbutton tosetManualTransmission Mode.The engine will
remainrunning for the Turbo Timer setting (1, 3or 5minutes).
CONVENIENCEAND SAFETYFEATURES
KEYLESS ENTRY(PowerDoorLocks, mayrequireData Module-Optional)
Thissystemenablesyou toremotelylockand unlockthe vehicle’sdoors(ifequipped withpower locks)viaremote
controlfor safetyand convenience.Note:Thisfeature mayrequire extra labor and/or partstoinstall.Press the
LockorUnlocktransmitterbuttonasyouleaveorcomenear the vehicle.Parking lightswill flashoncefor Lockand
twicefor Unlock.The parking lightswill turn on for 30 secondswithUnlocktoassistinlocating and providing
illuminationnearyourvehiclewhenapproachingatnightfor safety.The parking lightalsoturnsoffwithignitionon.If
vehicleisrunning bythe remotestart system, the lightswill flash, but return backtosolid.

CONVENIENCEAND SAFETYFEATURES
AUTO LOCK / UNLOCK (Option #2)
TheAutoLockfeaturecontrolswhetherthedoorswillautomaticallylock/unlockon your vehiclewhendrivingorwith
turning the Ignition ON/OFF.Ifthe AutoLockfeature isturned on,and your systemisin“Tach” mode,then the
doorsshouldautomaticallylockasthe engine RPM’sincrease(driving).Ifthe AutoLockfeature isturned on,and
your systemisin“SmartTachless”mode,then the doorswill lockafewsecondsafter the Ignition isturned on.
When the AutoLockfeature isturned on, the systemwill alwaysunlockthe doorswhen the Ignition isturned off.
Withthisfeature turned OFF,the systemwill notautomaticallylockor unlockthe vehicle.See your installer for
programming information on thisfeature.
REMOTEPANIC(Optional)
The DataStart systemfeaturesRemotePanicthru Data. Consult your installer on thisfeature.ToactivatePanic
Mode,presstheLockButtonontheremotefor more than 2seconds.The vehiclehorn willhonkalongwithflashing
parking lampsfor 1minute. Reset RemotePanicbypressing either the lockor unlockbutton.
HORN CHIRPS (Option #7, 13 &16)
Ifvehiclehornsare connected tothe system,theywill provide audibleconfirmation chirpsfor lockand unlockand
remotestart.Thechirpsoundcanbe programmed fromshorttolong toadjustfordifferentsoundinghorns.Pressing
theLockorUnlockbutton(Programmableoptionfor1or 2Press)will provide ahorn chirp foraudibleconfirmation.
The systemcan alsobeprogrammedtoprovide3chirpswhenaremotestartisrequestedusing the remote.Note:
Horn honk/chirp feature mayrequire extra labor and/or partstoinstall.
Option 7=ChirpswithRemoteStart On/Off.
Option 13 =1or 2button press for Chirp withLock/ Unlock.
Option 16 =Short, mediumor long Chirp Pulse(15, 20 or 40 milliseconds).
REMOTETRUNK RELEASE ORDOMELIGHTILLUMINATION(Option 9)
ThisDataStartsystemincludesanoutputthatcanbeprogrammedtoremotelyreleaseafactoryelectronictrunkor
illuminatethe interior lightwhen you unlockyour vehiclefor lighted entryatnight. Ifyou havethe optionaltrunk
releaseinstalled, simplypress and releasethe TrunkButton #3 on the transmitter toremotelyopen trunk.Ifyour
systemisprogrammed for DomeLightillumination,then itwill workautomaticallylighting the domelightfor 30
secondswhen you unlockyour vehicleviathe remote.The domelightwill turn off after 30 seconds,or turning the
keyon (whichever comesfirst).The trunkPop or DomeLightIllumination mayrequire extra labor and/or partsto
install.

CONVENIENCEAND SAFETYFEATURES
VALETMODE
Before servicing your vehicleor handing the keysover toaValetwerecommend putting the unitintoValetMode.
The RemoteStart function WILL NOToperatewhen inValet Mode.
1. To Activate Valet ModeManually: Turntheignitiononandpress the Valetbutton [about5-6 seconds]until
the LEDturnson solid. Repeat the process toexit VALETmode.
2. To Activate Valet ModewiththeRemote: Press and holdboththe Lock and Unlock Button
togetherforabout3secondsuntil3chirpsareheard(horn mustbe connected). Repeatthisstep
toexitviathe remotetransmitter.Lock /Unlock and AUXfeatureswillstilloperateinVALETModehowever
RemoteStart isinhibited.
HOODOPENSAFETY(Requires hood pinswitch)
Preventsremotestartingenginewhenhoodisopen.Eliminatesriskofinjurytosomeoneworkingunderthehoodof
the vehiclewithaproperlyworking hood pininstalled. If RemoteStart button ispressed withthe hood open, the
parking lightswill flashtwiceand the unitwill notattemptastart. The systemwill abortRemoteStartanytimethe
hood isopened. See RemoteStart Diagnostics on page 14.
BRAKEPEDALRESET:
Preventsstarting or turnsoff aremotestarted vehiclewhen thiscircuitisactive.PreventsUnauthorized Driving of
Vehicle.Thiscircuitshutsthe systemdownimmediatelywhen brakepedalispressed.Turn the ignition keytothe
“ON”position before the brakepedalispressed.IfRemoteStartbutton ispressed withthe brakepressed,the
parking lightswill flashonceand the unit will not attempt astart. See RemoteStart Diagnostics on page 14.
OEMALARMINTERFACE
Thisfeature isdesigned toDisarmandRe-armFactoryequippedsecuritysystemsinconjunctionwithremotestart
and keyless entry(if needed for your vehicle). Thisfeature will maintainthe originalintegrityand securityofyour
vehicle’sfactoryequipped systemsbefore, during, or after remotestart.
OEMREMOTESTART:3Press Lock =Remote StartthruData
Thismode allowsthe systemtousethe OEMRemoteControltoRemoteStart or Stop with3successiveLock
pulses. Thisfeature onlyworkson newer CANBUSvehiclesusing aDataModulethat supportsthisfeature.
Withthisoption you can useboththe OEMand Crimestopper remote. The databusmodulemayrequire custom
programming toenablethisfeature. Consult withyour installer.

TRANSMITTERPROGRAMMING
Note: All transmittercodes must belearnedat timeofprogramming!! TheDS7learnsup to4different
transmittercodes.
1.Turn Ignition Keytothe ONposition.
2.Press Programming button 4times, then after afewsecondsthe unit flashesthe parking lights4times.
3.Press button #1 ofthe firsttransmitter.You shouldget1lightflashconfirming the remoteiscoded,then press
button #1 of asecond transmitter, the unit will flash2timesconfirming the remoteiscoded and soon. Ifall 4
codesare learned,the unitwill automaticallyexitcode learning mode,otherwiseturn keyoff. See diagram
below.

Your remoteshavethe abilitytocontrolasecond vehiclewithaCrimestopper systeminstalled.
Toset up the 2-Vehicleoperation you must first programyour remotestoVehicle#2. Followthe “Transmitter
Programming”steps(Pg. 12) at the second vehicleand learn YOUR remote, along withvehicle#2’sexisting
remotes.

(1) You do not havetoswitchbetween Vehicle“1”and “2”toget pagesfromeachvehicle. Your remotepager
will receivepagesfrombothcarsregardless of whichvehiclethe pager isset to. The “1”or “2”icon will always
displaywitheachpage indicatewhichvehiclethe page originated from.
(2) When,all remote/pagersand sidekickremotesfor thatvehiclemustbe learned atthe timeofprogramming.
When you programyour remoteatthe second vehicle,thatvehicle’soriginalremotemust alsobe programmed.
Your remoteshouldbe set inVehicle“2” and the vehicle’soriginalremoteshouldbe set inVehicle“1”.

MostnewcarsDoNotallowthefactoryRemoteKeylessEntrytofunctionwiththeIgnitionON.Thismeansyoucan’t
usethe factoryremotetolockor unlockthe doors.After remotestartyou havetousethe keystounlockthe door.
Also,manynewvehiclesunlockthe doorswhendisarmingthefactoryalarm.Thisleavesthedoorsunlockedwhile
RemoteStarted. Toresolvethisproblem,haveyour installer connectthe door lockstothe RemoteStartKeyless
Entry. The RemoteStarter withRe-Lockthe doorsafter remotestarting.
When you return toaremotestarted vehicle, just press the Unlockbutton on the remotecontrol.

2Parking LightFlashes (2 LEDFlashes) =ProblemwithHood Switch.
3Parking LightFlashes (SolidLED)=Valet Service Mode.
5Parking LightFlashes (5 LEDFlashes) =Ignition OnbeforeRemote Start.
7Parking LightFlashes (7 LEDFlashes) =Manual Transmission Error.
