1. INTRODUCTION
About this Manual
This Update Guide describes the new features and changes introduced to the
9853, 9752 and 9751 with version 5.0x software.
The changes described in this guide are apply to the following manuals:
Updated manuals are available on the Cooper Security web site at
www.coopersecurity.co.uk
2. Changes To Hardware
The control unit can now operate on 60Hz 230VAC mains supplies. Use
command 991 to check if the control unit is connected to a 50 or 60 Hz
supply.
3. Changes To Installer Programming
Leading ‘0’ Now Allowed in Access Codes
All access codes, both user and installer, four-digit and six-digit, can have “0”
as the first digit.
Entering and Leaving Installer Mode
When you enter Installer Mode you do not need to press “0” before entering
the Engineer Code. (Unless, that is, you have set the Engineer Code to have
“0” as the first digit.)
The control unit now carries out an extra check when you leave programming.
You will see a new message on the keypad display as follows:
1. Press 99yat the keypad
The display shows: 99:Checking Bus
followed after a few seconds by 99:Exit Eng?
2. Press y.
The display shows: 99:Checking Sys
followed by the time and date.
The system is now in user mode.

Command 81 to 84 - Option 38
This option is now active for the following faults:
AC Fail, Anti-Mask, Aux DC, Battery Load Test Fail, Battery Missing,
Comms Fail, Jamming, Keypad Ident Fail, Line Fail (internal
communicator only), Low Battery, RF Low Battery, Supervision Fail,
Telecommand Low Battery, uCom Fail, Zone AC Fail, Zone Battery
Fault, Zone Fault, Zone Low Battery and Zone Pwr O/P.
(Plug-By/Plug-On fail no longer trigger an All Fault output.)
Command 106: - Option 0
When using option 0, the control unit does not monitor the telephone line
connected to the internal communicator. The control will still report faults on a
plug-by communicator (provided the Line Fault output from the communicator
are connected to the control unit).
Command 131:
Various new reports have been added to command 131. The table below
shows the reports now available in full, with new or changed entries
underlined.

Notes:
1. If Command 143, option 1 is selected, all messages with a CID Code are sent. If
option 0 is selected, the restores marked with ‡ are not sent.
2. This message also sent for PAs started from a telecommand.
3. The control unit logs an Anti-Mask event to the zone number one below that assigned
the Anti-Mask type.
4. This message also sent for Power zones.
5. This message also sent for Battery Fault zones.
6. This message also sent for Low Battery zones.
Command 141: Alert Tone On/Off
This is a new command in version 5.0x. Use this command to disable the
Alert fault tones. When enabled (default) the system gives an alert tone and
displays alerts on the keypad.

Option
0 Disabled. The display shows alert messages for faults, but does not
sound alert tones.
1 Enabled (default). The display shows alert messages, and the system
gives alert tones.
Command 151 to 158: Plug-by Communicator Outputs
1. Note that All Fault is active for the following faults: AC Fail, Anti-Mask, Aux
DC, Battery Load Test Fail, Battery Missing, Comms Fail, Jamming,
Keypad Ident Fail, Line Fail (internal communicator only), Low Battery, RF
Low Battery, Supervision Fail, Telecommand Low Battery, uCom Fail,
Zone AC Fail, Zone Battery Fault, Zone Fault, Zone Low Battery and Zone
Pwr O/P. (Plug-By/Plug-On fail no longer trigger an All Fault output.)
2. In the event of a mains fail (or if the installer leaves engineering with mains
absent) the control unit waits one minute and then logs an AC Alert, but
does not start any communication. If the mains fail persists, then after a
time of 15-19 min (chosen at random) the control unit logs an AC Fail and
also starts a communication.
If you select a Scandinavian default in Command 0, the control unit waits at
least 60 minutes before reporting.
Printing the Event Log (9853 only)
The following log messages are new in version 5.0x.:

attempting to rearm at the end of the bell

4. Changes For the End User
Access Codes
With version 5 access codes can have “0” as the first digit.
The end user no longer has to press Xto cancel a mistake in entering an
access code, they simply key in the correct code again.
If a user keys in an incorrect code four times, the control unit locks all keypads
for 90 seconds.

Downloader Calling Control Unit
The end user can now control access to the control unit for incoming calls
from Downloader. To do this the user:
1. Keys in an access code (or presents a tag).
2. Presses 0.
The display shows: Call CS ?
3. Presses B and then y.
The display shows: Remote PC _
In Progress
The Installer's PC can then attempt to call the
control unit over the telephone line. While
Downloader is connected, the keypad display
shows the time and date.
Note: If you connect a PC with Downloader directly to
the control unit by a cable then the user must
authorise the connection by pressing A in step 3
above.
