Pressure Cooker Instructions 8866
Please read these instructions carefully before first use.
Safety Features
• A safety switch prevents pressure from building if the handles are not correctly aligned. It also prevents opening of the lid if the pressure inside is too high.
• There is a block proof cover under the steam vent.
• A spring safety valve releases steam if the pressure inside builds too high.
• There is a safety window that will allow the seal to pop out if all other safety devices fail.
Assembly
• Affix the pan handle to the pan body using the screw provided.
• Affix the additional handle to the pan body using the screw provided.
• Affix the lid handle to the lid using the bolt and nut provided.
• Place the sealing ring inside the lid.
• Before first use, wash in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
How to use the Pressure Cooker
• Apply some cooking oil to the sealing ring – this allows the lid to slide closed easily.
• Check all valve openings are clear and unblocked.
• Do not fill the pressure cooker more than 3/4full with your chosen ingredients and liquid.When cooking rice, fill no more than 2/3full with food and liquid.
When cooking foods that absorb liquid and then expand such as porridge or soup, do not fill more than ½ full.
• You can start cooking with the lid off just as you would any other pan, e.g. to brown meat. Or you can close the lid and begin straightaway with the pressure
cooker function.
• To close the lid, align the arrow on the lid with the arrow on the pan handle. Rotate the lid clockwise until it aligns with the pan handle and is fully closed.
When new, it is easier to push down on the lid with your left hand and use your right hand to close the lid.
• Turn on your heat. When the vent pipe is releasing steam consistently, place the pressure regulator on top. During use, this may rise and fall or spin, and will emit
steam and steam noises! Once steam is escaping consistently again, reduce the heat under the pan but ensure it is not so low that the steam stops.
• Cook for your desired time and turn off the heat.
• There are two ways of opening the lid. One, allow the pressure cooker to cool down naturally and then open the lid.Two, remove the pressure regulator and allow
steam to escape and then open. If doing the latter, use an oven glove to lift off the pressure regulator and protect your hand.The steam will escape very fiercely
so you need to ensure the vent pipe is not pointing at anyone or obstructed in anyway. Once the steam has all gone, open the lid.
• Ensure your food is cooked thoroughly. If it is not, repeat the above steps and cook for longer.
• The steamer tray can be used in the base of the pressure cooker pan to lift food away from the heat source e.g. for steamed puddings.
Tips
• Most recipes can be converted for the pressure cooker but results will vary. Fish is not usually recommended as it has such a short cooking time. Stews and soups
are perfect plus any recipe that requires a long cooking time. There are many books on the market that can offer advice.
• A recipe cooking time will typically be reduced by one third to one half the usual times. Try cooking for 1/3the time. If this is not enough, just cook for longer.
You will soon work out how long your favourite dish will take.
• Use wooden utensils not metal.

Timings
• This will vary depending on a number of factors, such as temperature of ingredients, size of cut of meat, heat setting etc.
• To begin with, try cutting the recipe time to 1/3rd then test, (always ensure food is thoroughly cooked through before serving) cook for longer if
necessary.
• Examples:
Potatoes 10mins
Cauliflower 2mins
Cabbage 4mins
Stew 45mins
Leek & potato soup 20mins
Beef bolognaise sauce 30mins
Lamb shanks 25mins
Chicken pieces 10mins
Always ensure food is thoroughly cooked through before serving.
Cleaning
• Never immerse a hot pan into cold water. Always allow to cool first.Then clean by hand (not dishwasher safe) using a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive
cleaners.
• Check all vents and valves are clean.
• The sealing ring should be dried flat and refitted to the lid for storage.
• Do not use metal scourers or steel wool as these will scratch the surface of the cooker.
WARNINGS
• Only use original parts.
• No additional weights to be placed on the pressure regulator, or vents deliberately blocked.
• Never place an empty pressure cooker on to a heat source.
• If any safety valve emits steam, this means the regulator is blocked, turn off heat source, allow to cool and check for blockages.
• Not to be used by children.
• Always take care moving a hot pressure cooker.
• Check handles regularly and tighten screws if necessary.
• If any part of the pressure cooker is damaged stop using and return to your authorised repair agent for repair or replacement.
Trouble Shooting
PROBLEM SOLUTION
Cooker not pressurising Heat source not hot enough, turn up heat.
Not enough liquid in cooker, check recipe.
Lid Gasket leaks, check gasket is clean and undamaged, clean/replace as necessary.
Safety valves or regulator not fitted correctly, check and refit as necessary.
Damage to cooker lid or handles not fitted correctly, check and refit as necessary.

Damage to cooker lid or handles not fitted correctly, check and refit as necessary.
Liquid leaks from cooker Heat source too hot, turn down heat.
Too much liquid in cooker, check recipe.
Pressure regulator has been fitted before steam starts to escape.
Cannot open lid Internal pressure is to high and the safety interlock is engaged, allow to cool and remove regulator.
PACKAGING:
• Dispose of the packaging at your local recycling centre.
• Dispose of paper and carton separately from plastic bags at your local recycling centre.
• Dispose of the item at the end of its lifespan at your local authorised household waste recycling centre.
