Safety Tips
For insuring security of users and reliability of the device, please obey the following tips for
installation, operations and maintenance.
Before powering on the device, please make sure it is properly grounded. This will avoid static
electricity or power leakage from the case. This will also help keep users away from electric shock
and reduce the possibility of imperiling the device.
1. No under cooling or over heating.
2. Good ventilation.
3. Turn off the power in wet weather or if device is not being used for long periods.
4. Don’t attempt to take apart or repair the device on your own.
5. Don’t spill any chemicals or liquid on the device or nearby.

1. Introduction
1.1. General Introduction
The EX-DVID-2LC optical DVI modular can transfer digital video and Clock signal up to 1500m by
2-core single mode optical ber and 500m by 2-core multimode optical ber at 1920*1200@60Hz
resolution.
The transmitter has the function of EDID self-programming. It can store the EDID from the monitor to
make itself adapt to monitors with different resolutions.
1.2. Main Functions
- Support DVI 1.0, transmitting by optical ber, through virtual DDC, support DDC2B.
- Optical ber connection: adopt 2-core multimode or single mode optical LC ber
- The longest resolution: 1500m(single mode), 500m(multimode)
- DDC connection: self EDID programming feature, fulll virtual DDC.
- The highest video bandwidth:1.65Gbps.

1.6. Installation requirement
(1) hardware requirement
Make sure your DVI port supports the display’s maximum image resolution. If you have already in-
stalled a DVI graphic controller or card, no special requirements for memory, CPU speed and chipset.
(2) software requirement
If your OS is already installed with a DVI graphics controller, there will no special restrictions.
(3) suggestion of AC/DC adapter
Transmitter of the EX-DVID-2LC has a power protection circuit, to protect the current conict between
the external DC power adapter and graphics card. You can choose to use the AC/DC power adapter
freely, it depends on your graphics card whether you should provide a +5V supply. But receiver mod-
ule Rx should use a +5 V AC/DC power adapter.
Note: Under normal situations, most of the laptops and desktop PCs with PCI Express graphics card,
will need to use the AC/DC power adapter at the transmitter.

1.8. Installation and Operation
1.9. Note:
Please use the following installer, if not, the device may not work or will not working properly.
Step 1: Respectively connected the power of PC and display.
Step 2: Read display’s EDID, please follow below steps
(1) First power on display, then connect the EX-DVID-2LC-T DVI interface to the display device.
(2) After the connection is completed, connect the power of CDL -202-T to ensure that the red
LED power indicator lights up.
(3) Click the EDID read button on the left of the DVI interface, now the EDID indicator lights up in
blue, and begins reading the EDID information of the current display device. 5 seconds later, the indi-
cator goes out, which means the EDID information read is completed, then disconnect the transmitter
power and remove the transmitter.
Notes: If you want to change the connected display, pls redo step two.
Step 3: Connected the transmitter DVI interface with PC DVI interface, now the blue LED light up, 2
seconds later it will go out. ( You can choose to use the AC/DC power adapter freely, it depends on
your graphics card whether you can provide a +5V supply.)
Step 4: Connect the 5V power adapter with receiver, insure the red LED light up.
Connect transmitter with DVI port.
Step 5: According to Picture above, connect TX with RX multimode or single mode LC ber.

Step 6: Power on computer and display the image is displayed normally.
2. Breakdown and Maintenance.
2.1. Trouble Shooting.
No image on display
(1) Ensure that all external power pin and socket fasten connection. Meanwhile ensure that the red
LED lights up.
Make sure to follow the installation step 2 to fulll EDID self-programming.
Ensure that the DVI port securely connects with DVI port of the PC and monitor.
Ensure that the transmitter and receiver modules respectively properly connect with the PC and the
monitor.
Check that the PC and monitor are powered on and in normal operation.
Unplug and reconnect the DVI port of the transmitter or receiver, or unplug and reconnect the trans-
mitter and receiver module to reboot the system.
After, connect the optical DVI extension module, restart the system.
(2) Screen distorted, or interference noise.
Check to make sure the image resolution settings are appropriate. Setting tab in the Windows Display
Properties.
Ensure that the resolution setting is not greater than 1920 × 1200 @ 60Hz.
Unplug and reconnect the DVI cable or 5V power adapter to reset the system.
Maintenance
The optical DVI cable modules and power adapter do not require special maintenance. Make sure the
module and the power adapter save and work in an environment away from liquid.

2.2 Warranty
2.2.1Gurantee Information
Covid warrants all devices in good working order for a period of one year from the date of purchase.
If this product isn’t in good working order as warranted above, repair or replacement shall be equally
provided by Covid. And if necessary, Covid will return the money to the user. Moreover, please pay
enough attention to tips below:
A. Only have the users complied with correct usage and the safety tips mentioned before will the
warranty valid;
B. During device repairation, all the replaced components which could be new or repaired are to be
Covid’s property. They have 3 months’ warranty or if some of them have their own warranty period,
they will only be warranted with the rest period;
C. No matter if products are in warranty period, Covid won’t be responsible for any Information or
data stored inside.
2.2.2 Limit and Exception
Warranty exceptional situations:
1) Misused or modied without permission,
2) Working with abnormal voltage, physics force.
3) Careless or unexpected operation
4) Damages result from unauthorized services.
However, Covid will offer obligatory services when breakdown is under right usage.
