UNPACKING THE ROUTER MOUNTING KIT
Includedinthe muter mountingkitare twomounting
plates,twoguidefences withguideblocks,a guard/
dustcoverassembly,t]vethroatplates,plusnecessary
bracketsand hardwarerequiredto mount routerto the
accessolytable of yourCraftsmantable sew.
Separateallthepartsand checkthe parts againstthe
parts list.See Figure1.
Duringassemblyand installation,you will needa
phillipsscrswddver,flatheadscrawdriver,and an
adjustablewrench.

sawbeforemountingthiskit,Failuretounplug
yoursaw couldrasult inaccidentalstarting

•ILWARNING: The saw's motorcord muStbe
Hdisconnectedfromthe racaptacle on sawwhen
usingthis kit,The power cord ofthe router muSt
be pluggedintothe receptacleonthe saw,The
saw's maSterswitchmuStbe usedto turn the
muter On and Off, Failureto do socould result
in seriouspersonalinjury,
Note: The muter extensionincludedinthis kitreplaces
the _tableextensionthatcame withyourCrattsman
table saw. Ifyou are assemblingyoursaw forthefirst
timeandwishtomountyourmuter kitatthistime,
follow the assemblyinStructionsthatcame withyour
saw,substitutingthe routerextensionforthe left
extensionwing.Oncethe muter extensionisattached
tothe saw,turntheheadinglabelled=InstallGuard/
DuStCover"on page5 ofthis manualandfollow the
remainderofthe assemblyinStructions.
Ifyouare mountingthis muter kitto aCraftsmantable
sawthat isalreadyassembled,proceedasfollows,
•Remove front and rear railsbylooseningthefour
5/16-t8 hex nuts holdingthe lefttable extension
tothe rails,as well as the two 5116-18 hex nuts
sacudng the left side of the main tableto the rails.
The nutsare locatedon the undersideof the
table. Slide leftsectionsof beth front and rear
railsoff. Sea Figure2.

•With theassiStanceofanother person, remove
the fourhex nuts,washers and bells holdingthe
table extensiontothe maintable and remove
table extension.
•Withthe assiStanceof another person, position
muter extensionsothatthefour holesalongthe
edge lineupwiththe fourholesinthe maintable.
Feed a 5116-18x 1-114in. belt througheach hole
as shownin Figure3 and attachwashers.Using
an adjuStablewrench,tighen the5/16-18 nuts
sacudng the routerextension tothe main table.
_ll WARNING: The extensionsare very heavy.
Do notattemptto removeor assembleexten-
sionswithoutthe helpof another person, When
liftingtheextensionsor maneuvedngsaw,
alwayskeepyourknees bent and liftwithyour
legs, notyour beck. Ignodngthese precautions
can resultin backInjury.

•The front and rear rails have slottedtracks
designedto acceptthe belt heads you loosened
Inorderto slidethe railsoff.Stintingat the far left
side,carefully feed the frontrailtowardthe
middle,makingsurethatthe boltheads arefully
engaged inthe track. Repeat with rear rail.
Note: There are two slottedtracksonthe frontrail.
The toptrackisdesignedto acceptthe boltheads.

•Usingan adjustablewrench,tighteneach of the
sixhex nutssacudng the railsto the router
extension and main table.

GUIDE FENCE ASSEMBLY
• Lifltheblade guardand placethe dpfenceagainst
the sew bladeand lockthe dpfencein place. This
willinsurethatthe ripfenceremainssquarewhile
installingthe mountingbars.
•Slide mountingbare into fronttrackon dpfence
and move themto the center ofthefence.
•Positionshimssothat the mar edges areflush
withthe rear edge ofthe fence and the slotsline
upwith the twoholes in each mountingbar.
SI Postition the two guideblockassembliessothat
the rearedges are flushwiththe rear edge of the
fence and the two slotsline upwith the slotsin
the shims.
•Assemble 1/4 in, flat wasbars onto each knob
bolt and screw knob bolts into holes on mounting

INSTALL GUARD/DUST COVER
•Slidethe head ofone ofthe 1/4 x 3/4 in. boltsinto
the mar trackon the guidefenceand the other
intothefronttrack.
SI Feed boltsthroughholes in post,Place a 1/4 in.
fiatwasher and lockwasher on each boltand
securewith 1/4 in.hex nutsusingan adjustable
wrench. See Figure 6.

the hole in the rear oftheguard/dustcover,

throatofthe muter table and approximately3-1/4
in.fromthe table surface.See F/gum 7.

SI Unplug the muter.

SI Place yourmuter upsidedownon a workbech.
SI Removethe subbasescrewsand the subbase
fromyourmuter. Note:The subheseismounted
permanentJyon somemutere and shouldnotbe
removed.
•Selectthe screwsneededfor yourparticularmuter.
Forconsumerreuters,usethe 114o20screws.For
commercial routere,usethe5/16-18 screws.
•Positionmuter upsidedownunderthe muter
extensiontable.The muter label shouldbe facing
the frontofthe table.

•Alignthe holesinthe table withthe holes inyour
muter.Feed the screwsthroughthetable and
intothe muter. See Figure 8.

INSTALL BIT AND THROAT PLATE
•Toinstallthe muter bit,followthe instructionsin
theoperator'smanualthatcame withyourmuter.
_1_ CAUTION: Make surethe muter bitwillnot
stdke the accesson/or any metal surface.
•Selectthe correctsize throatplatefor the size of
the muter bit.Alignthe tab on thethroatplate
withthe slotinthe muter extensionand snapIn
place.Make sumthe throatplate isfirmlyseated
belowthetable surface.Recheckthe muter bitto
make sumitwillnot strike the throatplate.
_1= WARN ING: The muter throat platesare
includedtoassure no more than 114in.clear-
ance betweenthe cutterandthe openinginthe
throatplate.Use the con,octthrcet plate. Do not
use a router bitsmallerthen 114in.or larger
then 2in.
RELOCATE ONIOFF SWITCH
When usingthe routerextension,it isrecommended
that you movethe switchboxtothe leftside ofthe
table, Todothis:
•Remove the leftand rightendcapson the front
railusinga phillipsscrewdriver.
•Loosenthe hexnut securingthe switchhoxtothe
frontrailand slideswitchboxoffrail,
•Repositionswitchboxto a convenientlocationon
the leftsideofthefront railby slidingthe square
head ofthe boltintothe lowertrack. "i3ghenhex
nutwithan adjustable wrench.
•Replace railendcapsusing a phillipsscrewdriver.
FINAL PREPARATION FOR OPERATION
•Adjustthe guard/dustcover sothat itwillnot
come in contactwiththeworkpieceor cutter
dudnga cuttingoperation.
•Directionoffeed of theworkplace isfrom fightto
leftor fromthe front ofthe saw towardthe back
withthe bit locatedinthe fence opening.

•Directionoffeed mustalways be sothat the
workpisoeisbeingthrustagainstthe sharpedges
ofthe rotatingbit.
•The workplacemustalways be tightagainstthe
guidefence, unless•ball-bearingpilotedbit is
being used.The infeadfence shouldbeadjusted
to supportthe uncutwod,,piecewhgethe ouffeed
fence shouldbe adjustedproperlyto supportthe
workpieceafterthe cut passesthe muter bit,
compensatingfor the removed stock.
AWARNING: The directionofthe feedfor the
workpisceisalwaysagainstthe sharpedges of
the bitand intothe rotationof the cutter.Failure
to heedthiswaming islikelyto resultin sedous

AWARNING: Do not usethe guidefence with
ball-.bearingpilotedbits.Failureto heed this
