TheCrestron®DM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA-20is ashieldedCAT6a
RJ-45 jack designedfor usewiththeDM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUG-20
Connectors (soldseparately)for DigitalMedia™ UltraCables
(DM-CBL-8G andDM-CBL-ULTRA,soldseparately).The45-degreeangle
termination allows cables toexittheoutlet in twodifferent directions.The
termination alsoallows cables toenter raceways or backboxes from the
side,top,or bottom.
Theterminationtool(DM-CRIMP-ULTRA-RECP-XA)is requiredto
terminatetheDM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA-20.
TheDM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA-20ships inpacks of 20.Eachpack
includes areceptaclebody,acover,atie-wrap,andthetermination
moduletobeusedwiththeterminationtool.
For simplicityinthis guide,thereceptacleis referredtoas the
DM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA.
PreparetheCableforTermination
Flushcutters,aflatscrewdriver,ajacketstripper,andthetermination
tool(DM-CRIMP-ULTRA-RECP-XA)arenotincludedandarerequiredfor
cabletermination.
Prepare DM-CBL-8G Cable
CAUTION:Donot nickthefoilshieldor theinsulationof thewires.
1. Striptheouter jacketof thecableabout 2in.from theendof thecable.
2. Foldbackthefoilsothatitlies over thecablejacket.
3. Foldbackthedrainwireandwrapitaroundthefoilshield.

4. Usingflush cutters,removethemylar wrap.
5. Gentlyspreadthefour twistedpairs toexposethecenter spline.
6. Removethecenter spline.
Prepare theDM-CBL-ULTRA Cable
CAUTION:Donot nickthebraidshieldor theinsulationof thewires.
1. Striptheouter jacketof thecableabout 2in.from theendof thecable.
2. Foldbackthebraidshieldsothatitlies over thecablejacket.
3. Removethefoilshieldfrom each ofthefour twistedpairs.
4. Gentlypullthebraidshieldawayfrom thecable.Twistthebraidshield
together creatingathread-likewire,andthen wrapthebraidshield
wirearoundthecablejustabovethecablejacket,leavingabout1/2in.
offoilshieldvisible.

Preparethe Termination Tool
InserttheterminationmoduleintotheDM-CRIMP-ULTRA-RECP-XA
termination tool.
Attach theWires to the Termination
Module
1. Gentlyspreadthetwistedpairs.
2. PlacethecableontotheDM-CRIMP-ULTRA-RECP-XAtermination
tooltostabilizeit.
3. Insert thewires of theDM-CBL-8G or theDM-CBL-ULTRAintothe
termination module.

4. Straightenandarrangethefour twistedpairs accordingto thecolor
schemeon theterminationmodule.Untwist eachwirejustenough to
inserteachwireintotheappropriatechannelofthetermination
module.
5. Removethetermination modulewiththecablefrom the
DM-CRIMP-ULTRA-RECP-XAterminationtool.
6. Fullyseateachwireintotheappropriatechannel.Ensurethateach
wirelies belowthetopsurfaceof theterminationmoduleas indicated
bythedashedlineintheillustration below.
7. Usingflush cutters,cut thewires flushwith theedgeof thechannels.
8. Trimtheexcess DM-CBL-ULTRAbraidshieldor theexcess
DM-CBL-8G drainwireandfoilshield.
TerminatetheCable
1. InserttheDM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XAintothe
DM-CRIMP-ULTRA-RECP-XAterminationtool.
2. Position thecableintotheDM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA.Ensurethe
notches match for proper orientation.
3. Press theDM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XAdowntofullyseatitto the
baseof theDM-CRIMP-ULTRA-RECP-XAterminationtool,thenpress
thehandletoterminatetheDM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA.
4. Removetheterminatedcablefrom theDM-CRIMP-ULTRA-RECP-XA,
andorientthecableas necessary.

5. Attachthecover tothebackof theDM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA.
6. WrapthedrainwirearoundtheDM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA,and
secureinplacewithatie-wrap.
Installthe Cable
TomounttheDM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XAto therear ofafaceplate,tilt
andpress thereceptacleintoplace.

Dismantlethe
DM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA
Pliers,aflat screwdriver (bothnot included),andthe
DM-CRIMP-ULTRA-RECP-XAarerequiredfor removal.
1. Cutthetie-wrap withthepliers,pull thecover off of the
DM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA,andstraightenthecable.
2. Byhandor usingtheDM-CRIMP-ULTRA-RECP-XAterminationtool,
pullthecablefrom theDM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA.
