soldseparately.
TheCrestron®DM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUG-20is ashieldedCAT6aRJ-45
plugdesignedfor usewiththeDM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-20/50andthe
DM-CONN-ULTRA-RECP-XA-20(45-DegreeAngled)Connectors (sold
separately)for DigitalMedia™ UltraCables (DM-CBL-8G and
DM-CBL-ULTRA,soldseparately).
Theterminationtool(DM-CRIMP-ULTRA-PLUG)is requiredto terminate
theDM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUG-20.
TheDM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUG-20ships in packs of20.Eachpackincludes
aplugbody,theoptionalbootandlatchprotector,andthetermination
moduletobeusedwiththetermination tool.
For simplicityinthis guide,theplugis referredto as the
DM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUG.
PreparetheCableforTermination
Flushcutters,aflatscrewdriver,ajacketstripper,andthetermination
tool(DM-CRIMP-ULTRA-PLUG)arenotincludedandarerequiredfor
cabletermination.
Prepare DM-CBL-8G Cable
CAUTION:Donot nickthefoilshieldor theinsulation ofthewires.
1. Striptheouter jacketof thecableabout2in.from theendof thecable.
2. Foldbackthefoilsothatitlies over thecablejacket.
3. Foldbackthedrainwireandwrapitaroundthefoilshield.

4. Usingflush cutters,removethemylar wrap.
5. Gentlyspreadthefour twistedpairs toexposethecenter spline.
6. Removethecenter spline.
Prepare the DM-CBL-ULTRA Cable
CAUTION:Donot nickthebraidshieldor theinsulation ofthewires.
1. Striptheouter jacketof thecableabout2in.from theendof thecable.
2. Foldbackthebraidshieldsothatitlies over thecablejacket.
3. Removethefoilshieldfrom eachof thefour twistedpairs.
4. Gentlypullthebraidshieldawayfrom thecable.Twistthebraidshield
together creatingathread-likewire,andthen wrapthebraidshield
wirearoundthecablejustabovethecablejacket,leavingabout1/2in.
offoilshieldvisible.

Attach theWires to theTermination
Module
1. If usingtheoptionalbootandlatch protector,pullthecablethrough
thebootandlatchprotector beforecontinuing.
2. Gentlyspreadthetwistedpairs andarrangethepairs inlineprior to
insertingthem intothetermination module.
NOTE:For aT568Ascheme,leadwith thebrownandwhitepair and
then theorangeandwhite.For aT568Bscheme,leadwith thebrown
andwhitepair andthenthegreenandwhite.
3. Insert thewires of theDM-CBL-8G or theDM-CBL-ULTRAintothe
termination module,andthenpullthewires untilthebraidor foilshield
is seatedimmediatelybelowthewirechannels.
NOTE:Ensurethatanybraidedor foilshieldis foldedover thecable
jacket,wrappedinthedirectionof theclamp.
4. Press thewires to seat them beforeclosingtheclamp.With theclamp
positionedbelowtheshield,snaptheclampclosedusingeither your
fingers or theDM-CRIMP-ULTRA-PLUG terminationtoolto secure
thecable.Ifusingtheterminationtool,insertthewirewiththeclamp
sideupbeforepressingthetool.

5. Laceallfour pairs intotheappropriatechannels on thetermination
module.Ensureeach wirelies belowthetopsurfaceof thetermination
module.
6. Usingflush cutters,cut thewires flushwiththeedgeof thechannels.
7. Trim theexcess DM-CBL-ULTRAbraidshieldor theexcess
DM-CBL-8G drainandfoilshield.
8. Attachtheplugbodyontotheterminationmodule,matchingtheplug
bodylatchtothetermination modulelatch.

TerminatetheCable
1. InserttheDM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUGintothe
DM-CRIMP-ULTRA-PLUGterminationtool.
2. Press theDM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUGdowntofullyseatittothebaseof
theDM-CRIMP-ULTRA-PLUG terminationtool,then press thehandle
toterminatetheDM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUG.
3. If usingtheoptionalboot,engageboththetopandbottomlatches.
Dismantle the
DM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUG
DismantlingtheDM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUG connector requires removing
thebootandtheplugbody.
Remove the Boot
Usingascrewdriver,disengagethelatches onthebody oftheplugand
slidethebootoff thecable.

Remove the Plug Body
1. InserttheDM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUGintothe
DM-CRIMP-ULTRA-PLUG as shown.Oncethe
DM-CONN-ULTRA-PLUGis inplace,pulltoremovetheplugbody.
2. Usingascrewdriver,opentheclampandremovelacedconductors.
NOTE:Aprobepic canbeusedtoremovethelacedconductors.
