SECTION 1. INTRODUCTION
MILLENIUM for AIRMIL'S with screw compressor is an automated MILLENIUM M3 in which a program has been
implemented to guaranty proper operation of air units required for applications using 2 screw compressors.
SECTION 2. WORKING PRINCIPLE
The 2 compressors start up in sequence according to 2 different pressure limits : mot.1 and mot.2.
They all stop at the same limit : Stop.
The user can configure the limits for mot.1 and for Stop.
The default values are :
Stop = 8.5 bar (10 bar version) or 11.5 bar (13 bar version).
Mot.1 = 7.5 bar (10 bar version) or 10 bar (13 bar version).
The limit for mot.2 is calculated using the value for mot.1 as follows :
Mot.2 = mot.1 – 0.5 bar = 7 bar factory setting for 10 bar version,
= 9.5 bar factory setting for 13 bar version.
The motors start-up order is changed each time the motors stop in order to balance out the hours of operation equally
between the motors.
Regulation mode is "FLEXO" : when the pressure reaches the pressure of the first compressor, the priority compressor
starts up and is constrained to work throughout the "flexo" period.
2.1. During this "FLEXO" period :
The compressor is still operating, whatever the pressure of C1A sensor. The pressure can exceed the stop limit. If the
pressure of the compressor reaches the load value, the compressor discharge system is enabled in order not to go
over the maxi. pressure of the compressor, then at the load pressure, the discharge system is disabled again and the
pressure starts rising again, and so on an so forth...
2.2. When the "FLEXO" period has elapsed :
Two situations are possible, as follows :
a) The pressure at C1A level is up to the stop limit :
The compressor is stopped according to its own procedure and an order is given to the air dryer to complete
its cycle.
b) The pressure at C1A level is down the stop limit :
When C1A reaches the stop limit, the compressor is stopped according to its own procedure and an order is
given to the air dryer to complete its cycle.
