1 Important Notes
Documentation • Read through this manual carefully before you commence installation and startup of
MOVIFIT®.
• This manual assumes that the user has access to and is familiar with the MOVIMOT®
and MOVIFIT®documentation.
• As a prerequisite for fault-free operation and fulfillment of warranty claims, you must
adhere to the information in the documentation.
General safety
notes on bus
systems
You are now in possession of a communication system that lets you adapt MOVIMOT®
and MOVIFIT®frequency inverters and MOVIFIT®motor starters to the particulars of
your system. As with all bus systems, there is a danger of invisible, external (as far as
the inverter/motor starter is concerned) modifications to the parameters which give rise
to changes in the inverter/motor starter behavior. This may result in unexpected (not
uncontrolled) system behavior.
Hoist
applications
•Hoist applications can only be implemented with MOVIFIT®-FC in combination
with the function level "Technology" under the following conditions:
–The MOVIFIT®expert mode for advanced startup/configuration must be
activated.
–A special hoist startup must be performed. This procedure is described in
the section "Motor/brake startup with MOVIFIT®-FC".
•This manual does not replace the detailed operating instructions.
•Only qualified personnel observing all applicable accident prevention guide-
lines and the MOVIFIT®-MC, MOVIFIT®-SC or MOVIFIT®-FC (depending on the
MOVIFIT®version in use) operating instructions may install and take these
units into operation.
•MOVIFIT®-FC is not designed for use as a safety device in hoist applications.
Use monitoring systems or mechanical protection devices as safety equip-
ment to avoid possible damage to property or injury to people.

Regardless of whether it is used to control a machine module or as a stand-alone
system, demanding drive tasks can easily be configured using the Technology function
level. Direct programming in the MOVI-PLC®development environment lets customers
turn their application-specific requirements into drive applications.
Tasks can be programmed using the standard IEC 61131 languages (LD, FBO, IL, ST,
SFC) (MOVI-PLC®). Furthermore, function blocks from different libraries can be com-
bined into a program to implement complex motion sequences.
The new MOVITOOLS®Motion Studio enables a complete engineering concept. This
software offers all the tools necessary for automation and startup of drives.

4.1 Configuring the PROFIBUS master
The enclosed disk contains GSD files for configuration of the DP master. These files are
read in with the project planning software of the DP master and are then available for
configuring the DP master. Refer to the manuals for the appropriate project planning
software for details on the procedure.
• Read the information in the PDF files on the GSD file.
• For the MOVIFIT®function level "Technology," install the GSD file
"SEW_600B.GSD" according to the instructions of the project planning software for
the DP master.
• After successful installation, the device "MOVIFIT®Technology" is displayed in the
list of slave stations.
The following screenshot shows how the MOVIFIT®Technology GSD is displayed in the
STEP7 HW Config.

1. Add "MOVIFIT®-Technology" to the PROFIBUS structure and assign the PROFIBUS
address. This address must match the PROFIBUS address you set later in the
MOVIFIT®connection box (see the appropriate MOVIFIT®operating instructions).
The following figure shows how to delete the preassigned process data slots in the
STEP7 HW Config:
2. The GSD configuration is set to 3 process data words as the default. If you want to
exchange a different process data length between the DP master and the MOVIFIT®
technology unit, mark slot 3 for the MOVIFIT®process data.
3. Delete the process data configuration for slot 3 to begin configuration for your appli-
cation. The HW Config now displays the assignment of the slot in plain text.

4.2 Application example for a user-programmable IEC application
The following figure shows the configuration for a user-programmable IEC application
using the MOVI-PLC integrated in MOVIFIT®technology.
1. Select the process data configuration required for your application.
2. Enter the I/O or periphery addresses for the configured data width.
3. Save the configuration.
4. Extend your application program to include data exchange with the MOVIFIT®units.
5. Save the project and load it into the DP master. Once the DP master has been
started, the LED "BUS-F" of the MOVIFIT®should go out. If this is not the case,
check the wiring and terminating resistors of the PROFIBUS and the configuration,
especially the PROFIBUS address set in the ABOX (see the corresponding
MOVIFIT®operating instructions).

4.3 Application examples for the transparent mode
MOVIFIT®Technology units are delivered as standard with a "transparent mode" pro-
gram. This predefined IEC 61131-3 application works as a gateway and displays all the
connected function units in the PROFIBUS process image. This feature enables trans-
parent access to lower-level units such as I/Os and drive units. Various process image
lengths can be used in PROFIBUS depending on the variants FC, SC and MC.
4.3.1 Compatibility with Classic version
1. The Classic versions provides a consistent process image of all the lower-level
stations connected to PROFIBUS, while the MOVIFIT®-Technology version is a
modular system, which means that address ranges can be assigned individually to
the different function units (DIs, DOs, drives etc.). Consequently, certain basic con-
ditions must be observed when using the same function modules in the DP master.
2. Only 6..8 digital inputs and 0..2 digital outputs are available for the MOVIFIT®-Clas-
sic versions FC and SC, while 12..16 digital inputs and 0..4 digital outputs are avail-
able in all three versions of MOVIFIT®-Technology.
3. As MOVIFIT®-Technology can only be configured with the same input/output data
lengths, reserved information can be transferred via fieldbus, if necessary (see
application examples).

4.3.2 Application example for the transparent mode with MOVIFIT®-MC
The transparent mode offers the following functionality for MOVIFIT®-MC:
• Control of three MOVIMOT®drives with three process data words each. This means
that the ramp times for acceleration and deceleration are specified cyclically by the
higher-level controller.
• 12/16 digital inputs and 0/4 digital outputs can be used by MOVIFIT®-MC to address
external sensors and actuators. The PLC program switches the combined inputs/out-
puts. "1" signals at the digital outputs DO0..3 set a terminal automatically to a digital
output.
• Cyclical diagnosis of the sensor/actuator channels and the maintenance switch via
special status information "MOVIFIT®status."
The following table shows the configuration example for this MOVIFIT®-MC application.
The following figure shows which process data is transferred via the bus system. Eleven
words are transferred between the fieldbus master and MOVIFIT®-MC as input and out-
put data.
To ensure that the address ranges within the DP master can be assigned to the same
addresses for process input and process output data, the first PO word is transferred as
a reserved word and is not evaluated.

The transparent mode offers the following functionality for MOVIFIT®-SC:
• Control of the integrated motor starter for single or dual motor operation via three pro-
cess data words, which means that all the process input data of the motor starter is
available in the PLC at any time.
• 12/16 digital inputs and 0/4 digital outputs can be used by MOVIFIT®-SC to address
external sensors and actuators. The PLC program switches the combined inputs/out-
puts. "1" signals at the digital outputs DO0..3 set a terminal automatically to a digital
output.
• Cyclical diagnosis of the sensor/actuator channels and the maintenance switch via
special status information "MOVIFIT®status."
