1 DRIVE INSTALLATION
a. Usetheprovidedscrewstoattachtheprotectivemetalplatetothebottomofyour3.5”drive.
Thisstepisoptional.Thepurposeofthebottomplateistoprovideprotectiontothedrive
electronicsofyourharddrive.
b. Ifyou’reattachinganIDE/PATAdrive,congurethejumpersontherearofthedrivetoMaster.
Consulttheinstructionsonyourharddrive’slabel.
c. ConnecttheUltraDockUDv5.5tothedrive(oradapter),usingtheIDEribbonandMolexpower
cablesforIDE/PATAdrivesortheuniedSATAdata/powercableforSATAdrives.
d. Ifyou’reusinganadapter,connectthedrivetotheadapter.
e. ConnectaeSATA,FireWire,orUSBcablefromyourcomputertothecorrespondingporton
theUltraDockUDv5.5.
f. ProvidepowertotheUltraDockUDv5.5.ConnecttheincludedACadapteroraSATApower
cablefromtheinsideofyourcomputercase.
g. Turnonthepowerswitch.
You are now ready to use the UltraDock UDv5.5 to access the attached drive. If the drive is
alreadyformatted,itcanbeusedrightaway.Ifthedriveisbrandnew,oritsformatisnotcompat-
iblewithyourcomputer,thedrivewillneedtobeformattedbeforebeingused.
Formattingadrivewillerasealldataonthedrive,sobesuretobackupyourdata
beforebeginningthisoperation.
2 HOW TO USE THE LCD INTERFACE
Use the LCD and 4-button navigation interface to view information about the attached drive
andtheUltraDockUDv5.5.Onthe4-buttoninterface,UpandDownallowyoutoscrollthrough
options,whileEnterselectsanoptionandBackgoesbacktothepreviousscreen.
MENU ITEM ACTION
ViewDriveInfo Displaysasubmenuofitemsthatdisplayinformationabouttheattacheddrive,including
temperature,capacity,serialnumber,rmwarerevision,S.M.A.R.T.information,and
more.
ViewDockInfo DisplaysasubmenuofitemsthatdisplayinformationabouttheForensicUltraDock,
includingtheproductname,uniqueIDnumber,andrmwareversion.
CreateHPA/DCO AllowsyoutocreateanHPA(hostprotectedarea)oraDCO(devicecongurationover-
lay)ofthesizeyouspecify.

gurationoverlays)arepresentonstartup.IfanHPAorDCOisdetected,theUltraDockUDv5.5
willindicatethatonehasbeenfoundandaskwhatyouwanttodowithit.UsetheUpandDown
buttonstoscrollthroughtheoptions,shownbelow,andthenpressEntertoselectanoption.
