Introduction
The SR2501GT reader uses Mifare technology for secured access control and e-payment
function. The enclosure of the reader is for indoor use only.
This document provides general specification of the reader, the installation procedure, and a
trouble shooting guide for user diagnosis.
The installation involves simple steps to provide DC power supply, signal line termination, and
mounting guide to secure the reader body.
The user operation depends very much on the application software that drives this reader.
For detail of driving the reader by application software, please consult the relevant protocol
document for detail.
General Specifications
The SR2501GT reader is equipped with a dot-matrix display for visual information, keypad for
user inputs, and a single push button. Below is the picture of the SR2501GT reader:

Installation
At the back of the reader, there is a cable lead with four wires. They are arranged as follows:
Colour Function
Red DC +5V
Black DC 0V
Yellow Signal + for RS485
Orange Signal – for RS485
Brown Signal RXD for RS232
Green Signal TXD for RS232
For mounting the reader onto a wall, remove the dark cover in front of the reader. There will
be two holes at each side. The displacement of the holes is suitable for standard light switch
box mounting.
Trouble Shooting
Upon power up, the LED lights up and the display will show:
- “I N I T * * *” on the first row
- “W A I T * * *” on the second row
After about 4 seconds, the display will show:
- “2000/00/00” on the first row
- “00:00:04” on the second row
The time second will continue to run second by second.
When the application software sends date/time information to the reader, the display will show
the date/time information accordingly.
If any of the above does not occur, the reader needs to be replaced.
