Children and the infirm mustbe closely supervised bya competent person. Ifthe product
includes small parts, donot let children playwith it.
Examine the product thoroughly:if it is damagedin any way notifythe retail store where
you purchased it.
For products supplied witha mains adapter ora detachable mains cord,if the adapter
or its leads getdamaged, it must bereplaced with an adapterof the same typeand rating.
To save power, disconnect from the mainswhen you are notusing the product unlessthe
function of the productrequiresa continuous power supply.
If the mains switchdoes not disconnect theproduct from the mains:The mains plug
shall be the maindisconnect device and shallbe operable at alltimes.
Avoid harsh conditionssuch as wet ordamp places, rain, highhumidity, strong vibration,
extremely high or lowtemperatures, strong sunlight and placesthat are very dusty.
DO NOT install or use thisproduct if you havespilt liquids in it,if it is damagedin any way,if
it has been dropped or if it doesnot work normally.Disconnect from the mainsand seek
expert advice.
DO NOT leave the product unattendedwhile it is operatingunless it is designedto do so.
DO NOT store this product outdoorsor expose to rainor moisture.
DO NOT use this product nearwater, for examplenear a kitchen sink,in a bathroom ornear

Power supply
Make sure the voltagemarked on the ratingplate on the rearof the product matches
the supply in yourarea.
An incorrect supply voltageis dangerous and mayresult in a fireor damage to theproduct.
The manufacturer accepts noresponsibility for any damageor injury resulting from
connecting to any voltageother than that specifiedon the rating platelocated on the backof
the product. See theinstruction book for exactvoltage range.

Mains plug and mainslead
We have fitted thisequipment with a standardmains plug.
If you cut offthe mains plug orfit a different type,destroy the old plug,as it is dangerousto
insert it into alive power outlet.
If a fuse isfitted to the plug,remove the fuse beforethrowing the plug away.
Carefully follow the wiringinstructions supplied with anew mains plug.
Never use a fusedmains plug without thefuse cover.
If the mains leadbecomes damaged, it mustbe replaced by themanufacturer, its service
agent or similarly qualifiedperson with an approvedmains lead of thesame type and rating
to avoid a hazard.
Make sure the mainslead cannot be walkedon crushed, chafed orcut and that itis routed
in such a wayas to reduce therisk of a trippinghazard.
Do not let themains lead hang overedge of a tableor counter or comeinto contact with hot
surfaces.
Do not immerse themains lead or mainsplug in water orany other liquid.
Mains plug wiring forthe UK
In a re wirableplug the wires inthe mains lead ofthis equipment must beconnected as
follows.
The wire coloured brownmust be connected tothe terminal that ismarked with the letterL.
The wire coloured bluemust be connected tothe terminal that ismarked with the letterN.
There is no greenor green and yellowwire. Do not connectanything
To theEarth terminal which ismarked E, or witha symbol.
You mustmake sure the mainslead is firmly securedunder the cord clamp.
Mains fuse
UK standard (BS1363) plugsmust be fitted witha BS1362 standard fuserated at 3Aor 5A.
Ventilation
Allow at least a10cm gap all around.Don't obstruct the ventilationslots with soft
furnishings. Overheating will increasethe risk of fire.
Cleaning
Disconnect the mains supplyand use only alightly dampened soft cloth.Do not use
chemical solvents or strongdetergents as these maydamage the cosmetic finish.
Never allow water dropletsto remain on thescreen as moisture cancause permanent
discoloration. Greasy marks must
be removed using acommercially available cleaner forLCD screens.
Batteries
Remove batteries when theremote control is notto be used fora long time. Batteriesleft in
the product may causedamage through deterioration andcorrosive leakage, invalidating
the guarantee. To protect the environment,use local recycling facilitiesfor disposal. Never
throw batteries on afire! Danger of explosion.
Wall or stand mounting
Products that may bemounted on a standor wall must besecurely attached in accordance
with the installation instructions.Never fit non-approved standsor legs.
For wall mounting, alwaysensure the area tobe drilled is freefrom electrical wires, water
and gas pipes, byusing a suitable locatordevice.

1. REMOTE CONTROL SENSOR: Used to receive the signal from the remote
control.
2. USB JACK(Optional): Used to connect to an external USB 2.0 device.
Note: Not all receivers have the USB Jack.

Remote Controller
Remote Key Function:
1. MUTE Used to turn the sound on or off.
2. NUMBER KEYS:Used to select channel numbers or
input numbers in menus.
3.TV/RADIO: Used to switch between TV channels and
Radio stations.
4. INFO Used to display information about the channel
being viewed or further information about the program
when in normal play mode.
5. SUBTITLE: Used to switch between different subtitles
that are broadcasted
6. EXIT:Used to clean all menus and return to non-menu
state for playing.
7. CH+: Used to move around the menu screens or
selecting the channels in non-menu state.
8. VOL+:Used to move around the menu screens or
changing the volume in non-menu state.
9. OK: Used to confirm a selection within a menu.
11. PAGE+:Used to page up, when there are pages
(i.e.channel list).
12.STANDBY Used to switch the set top box to on or
standby.
13. FAV: Used to switch access your favourite channels.
10. COLOR KEYS(RED/ GREEN/ YELLOW/ BLUE):
Note: SUBTITLE/TEXT/AUDIO may not be available for all channels.
15. MENU:Used to open the main menu orreturn to the previous menu.
16. EPG: Used to display information about the program beingviewed and what's on next.
17. VOL-: Used to move around the menu screensor changing the volume in non-menu state.
18. CH- :Used to move around the menu screensor selecting the channels in non-menu state.
19. TEXT:Used to open the interactive digital teletextif available.
20. PAUSE:Used to pause or playback the programbeing viewed .
21.PAGE-:Used to page down, when there arepages(i.e.channel list).

Installing the Batteries
Remove the battery coverfrom the remote controland put 2XAAA
size batteries insidethe compartment.The diagram inside the
battery compartment showsthe correct way to install
the batteries.

Using the Remote Control
Touse the remote control, point it towards the frontof the digital set
top box Theremote control hasa range of up to 7 metres from the
set top box atan angle of upto 60 degrees.
Sunlight or very bright light will decrease the sensitivity
of the remote control.
The remote controlwill not operate if its path is blocked.

Caution: Make sure to checkthe voltage specification ofthe wall
outlet is the samerating with the receiver. To prevent the riskof
electric shock, do notopen the cover orthe back of thereceiver.
Connections
Note: When connecting the receiver to other equipment, e.g., TV,
VCR and amplifier, make sure to refer to relevant user manual for
instruction. Also, make sure you disconnect all the equipments from
the mains supply before the connection.

User Interface
The 'Exit ' key will remove alldigital menus.
The exception to thisis for persistent bannersi.e. encrypted service
etc and for servicelocked/censorship PIN entry OSDs.
All menus will automaticallybe removed after 30seconds unless
otherwise stated.
The menus usea 256-colour palette.
The menus willcurrently support just English language.
2) VolumeControl
A baris to be displayed when volume is changed bypressing Vol+ or
Vol-. Thebar will disappear aftera predefined time followingthe last
Vol+ or Vol- key press.Automatically removedafter 2 seconds.
3) Mute Symbol
Pressing the Mutekey mutes the sound and a symbol is displayed,
Automatically removed after 2seconds.
4) Screen Freeze
Pressing the Pausekey to Freeze the Screen and a pause symbolis
displayed. Press thePause key again to exit Freezing.
5) Direct DigitEntry
When the user initiates a channel change using the number keys,
The user can press the OK key to force the channel change before
all 3 digits have been entered. If all 3 digits are entered then the
channel change willoccur.
5 seconds after the last key press, the channel change will be
initiated if alldigits have not been entered.
6) TV/Radio Switch
Press TV/Radio buttonon the remoteto toggle between TV channels
and Radio stations,then you can change among the TV channels or
Radio stations bypressing CH+/- buttons. This mode canbe
removed later if youselect a channel byDirect Digit Entry orService
Organiser.
1)Welcome Screen
When the STBis powered up for the first time or isbrought out of
standby with noservices, then a welcome screen will be displayed.
This will tell theuser to press theOK key to start a full frequency
service scan.

7) Digital Information
When viewing a digitalprogram, a single pressof the info keywill bring
up the first levelof program information shownbelow. Thisshows the
time, logical channel number, channel name and'Now' program
information. It also shows the current favourite list that isbeen
used/selected. The informationbanner appears at thebottom of the
screen.
The user can scrollthrough information for otherchannels in the
currently selected favourites listor the full servicelist if a favouriteslist
is not enabled. Thisis done using theup and down keys.Whilst
information for other channelsis displayed the actualchannel being
viewed will not change.The OK key willjump to the newchannel. After
a channel change, theinformation banner will beremoved after 4
seconds. In addition theuser can toggle between'Now' and 'Next'
information using the leftand right keys. To display 'Next' information
from the 'Now' banner, the user pressesthe right key.This OSD will be
semi-transparent.
7.2) Small Next Information
The user can returnfrom 'Next' to 'Now'Information using the left
arrow key.
A secondpress of the INFO key will bring up theextended program
information, and exampleis shown below.

Again, the user will be able to scroll through information for other channels
whilst still watching the current program by using the P+/P- keys. In addition,
the left and right cursor keys will toggle extended info for 'Now' and “Next”. A
third press of the info key clears all on screen information. This OSD will be
semi-transparent.
7.1) Small Now Information

8) Channel Change OSD

9) Audio
Pressing the audio keywill display the followingmenu. This menu
displays all the audiostreams available on thecurrent service. The
selection is done usingthe up/down keys. Pressingthe OK key
selects the new audio.This selection is onlyvalid until power-down
or service change. Thismenu will be automaticallyremoved after 5
seconds.
Audio menu Subtitle menu
This is the graphicseen after using P+/P-or when a directdigit entry
channel change is completed.It times out after4 seconds If P+/P-is
used then the newservice will be thenext/previous service in the
currently selected favourites list.If no favourites listis selected/
enabled then the fullservice list will beused. Direct digit entrywill
tune to a serviceusing its LCN.This may not bein a favourite list.
This OSD will besemi-transparent and will automaticallytimeout
after 3 seconds.
This banner will staypersistent when no videocan be watched onthe
TV. Thisbanner will also displaythe current favourite listenabled and
if the service isnew or removed.The following messages willbe
displayed under various circumstances:

The graphic isdisplayed in the center of thescreen.
This will beautomatically removed when the MHEG application
acquires the display orwill timeout after 60seconds if the MHEG
application fails tolaunch.

The user canscroll through the service list, selectbetween now or
next information andalso use the RED key toadd a timer
programming event.If thevideo cannot be displayed then oneof the
following messages willbe displayed in the preview area:
An icon willbe displayed if the service hasbeen added or removed by
the broadcaster.
This menu isfull screen.
11) Data ServiceLoading
If the Teletext key is pressedon a service thatcontains an MHEG
data application anddata services have been enabled inthe
languages menu, thenbefore the application has been fullyloaded,
this display willbe presented.
10) Subtitle
Pressing the subtitle keywill display the followingmenu. This menu
displays all the subtitlestreams available on thecurrent service and
a subtitle off option.The selection is doneusing the up/down keys.
Pressing the OK keyselects the new subtitlelanguage. This
selection is only validuntil power-down or servicechange. Enhanced
subtitle streams are indicatedby an ICON. Thismenu will be
automatically removed after 5seconds.
12) TV Guide
Pressing the EPG keydisplays the following guidemenu. The guide
contains all the channelsin the service listrather than just the
favourites list. Thisallows the user toview the now andnext event
information for every serviceas well as theextended information for a
selected event.
Also a video/audio previewis given which showsthe program that is
currently being watched ifthe user selects the''INFO'' button the
preview will change toshow the user whatis currently been shownon a
selected/highlighted service.

13) Main Menu
The Main Menu containsthe following options.
1. Service Organiser
Accessed from themain menu, the service list containsthe details of
the services thathave been added into the system.The list canbe
scrolled through using upand down. Theselected channel appears
with a whiteborder. Channels can be tunedby using the 'OK' key.
Channels can bedeleted with the 'Red' button(however,a full-scan
will delete and re-addchannels). the user willbe asked for thePIN
number each timethey delete a channel. The 'Green'button is used
to allow servicere-ordering. The 'Yellow' will allow the user toedit
the service name.
Service Organiser PIN requested fordeletion
The UHF columnshowing the frequency channel that theservice is on,
will only be presenton a terrestrial system.

2. Favourites
(1).Select main menu.
(2).Scroll to favourites.
(3).Press green button tocreate favourite list.
(4).Press yellow to showedit list.
(5).Sroll up/down to selectchannel.
(6).Press OK to addto list.
(7).Repeat process to addfurther channels.

2.1) Favourites Edit
Accessed from the favouritesmenu. The orderof the Favourite list
determines the orderthe programs appear when the usersurfs up and
down the channelswith the P+/P- keys. The fullservice list andthe
favourite list can bescrolled through using upand down. Thetwo lists
are selected by usingthe left/right keys. The selected channelappears
with a whiteborder. Thefavourite list can be re-ordered usingthe
'Green' key.The favourite listname can be changed by pressing the
'Yellow' keywhich will bring up the editmenu.
To re-ordera favourite service theuser must select therequired service
using the up/down keyand then use thegreen key to enterre-order mode.
When the green re-orderis selected the userwill be presented with

3.1) Enter Details
When the OKkey is pressed, the following menuis displayed:

This menu isarrived by selecting the timer programmingoption in the
main menu.
Note: The DVR optionis not available with this model.

2.2) Name Editor
This name editor menuis used for allowingthe user to renamea
favourite group. Thecharacter selection is doneby moving the
highlight around a charactermatrix and using OKto choose the
character. Thenew name is displayedat the top ofthe menu. 'CAPS'
is used to togglethe letters between upper-case and lower-case and
'Delete' is used tobackspace/delete the last character. When
complete the 'Green' keysaves the new nameand exits the menu.
The 'Yellow'key will cancel thecurrent edit and returnto previous
menu with no namechange.

The options are:
CN Three digit channelnumber.
Date Start date in DD/MM/YYYYformat.
Time Start time in HH:MMformat.
Duration Duration in HH:MM format.
DVR Set to Yes if to saveevent to internal harddrive if DVR
option enabled.
Repeat Event repeat mode. Options are No, Weekly, Daily, Mon-
Fri and Mon-Sat.
Subtitles This Options areYes touse the current subtitlelanguage
mode as set inthe “languages”menu. No will turnoff
subtitles during the timed event if enabledin the “languages”
menu.
When the user presses'OK', the entered itemsare validated. If
an error is detecteda message is displayedsuch as:
Error message that canoccur:
ERROR -Time overlapswith another entry
ERROR -Invalid service
ERROR -Invalid date
ERROR - Invalid time
ERROR - Invalid duration
ERROR - Current time not available
If the PINis not entered before a timeout, or it iscancelled, then the
event will NOTbe added and the display will return to the enter details
menu.
If the censorship level has been set above no-block then the TV will
ask the user to enter the PIN number to remove viewing restrictions
with the following menu:
3.2) Viewing Restrictions
When the user presses 'OK' and the items are validated successfully,
the TV willcheck if censorship is enabled or the channel is parentally
locked.
If the service is parentally locked, the TV willask the user to enter the
PIN number to remove viewing restrictions with the following menu:

The restricted program added in the timer list

If the PIN isnot entered before atimeout or it isskipped then the event
will still be addedand viewing restrictions willapply to the event
depending on its censorshiplevel. This isbecause the censorship
value of the eventis not known atthe time of enteringthe timed event.
Timer entries thathave had a valid PIN enteredare displayed with an
icon at theend of the line.
4. Setup Menu
This menu options allowthe user to set up the system.
Setup Menu Languages Menu
4.1) Languages
This menu allows theuser to set-up defaultlanguages for subtitles,
data services and audio.The values are usedon power up. Inaddition,
the 'Data Services' and'Audio' values are usedon channel change.
The subtitle value isalso used on achannel change, but onlyif it hasn't
been over-ridden by thesubtitle key.
The options are:
Subtitles Selects the default text language to be used for DVB subtitles.
The options are OFF, English, Welsh and Gaelic.
Data Services Selects the default text language to be sued for MHEG
data services. The options are OFF, English, Welsh and
Gaelic.
Audio Selects the default audio language to be used on power-up
and service change. The options are English, Welsh and Gaelic.
OSD Selects the default text language to be used in the menus and
off-air service information. This options just English currently.
4.2) TV Setup
The TV menuwill have the followingoptions:

The options are:
Television type Selects the type of tube that the set-top-box is
connected to. The options are 4:3 and 16:9.
Widescreen This option is only available when 4:3 is selected in
the shape option. It is used to select what the user
requires to be displayed for 16:9 transmissions.
The options are Letterbox, Center Cutout and Full
Frame.
Standard This option sets the SCART output mode.
The options are CVBS, RGB.
4.3) Parental control
The default Parentalcontrol PIN is “0000”.
4.3.1) Viewing aLocked Cannel
Selecting a channelthat is locked results in thefollowing OSD being
displayed:
Entering a valid PINwill give access tothe required service. Lockingis
on a per-channel basis,so if the userswitches to another locked
channel they will haveto re-enter the PINto view it.The channel will
remain unlocked until power-down.If the PIN isnot entered then this
OSD will be displayedat all normal viewingtimes. i.e. Afterleaving the
menus this display willreturn.
4.3.2) Parental Locking viaMenu Selection
The PIN must be entered to access the Parental Control menu:

System benefit frombeing supplied with a default PINand a master
PIN. The masterPIN is intendedto be used to over-ride theuser
supplied PIN ifit is lost or forgotten.
4.3.3) Parental Control Menu
Entering a valid PIN gives access to a sub menu that provides options
to change the PIN, Lock and Unlock services or adjust Censorship.
The Censorship optionallows the user to select ablocking age on
service programs.
The options are:

Block
Total block.Will block all serviceevents.
Age rating 18. Willblock service events withage rating 18+.
Age rating 15. Willblock service events withage rating 15+.
Age rating 12. Willblock service events withage rating 12+.
6 Age rating6. Will block serviceevents with age rating6+.
OFF No block. Will notblock any service events.

When “Change PIN”or “Lock/Unlock Services”is selected thenthe
help will changeto the following:
4.3.4) Censorship
The Television has aglobal censorship rating, which is set to the
Censorship block levelin the above menu at power-up. If the usertries
to watch aprogram that has a broadcast rating above the globalrating,
the user mustraise the global censorship rating of the TV tomatch the
broadcast program.
The following OSDis displayed when a censored program is
encountered:
Enter PIN to view the censored service
Change PIN
The limit israised to that of the broadcast program until theTV is put
into standby.If the PINis not entered then this OSDwill be displayed
at all normalviewing times. i.e. After leaving the menus thisdisplay
will return.
