Insertion of the batteries
The remote control uses two AAA (LR03) batteries,
which are included in the package. Whenever you insert
batteries, always make sure both of them are new.
To insert the batteries:
1.Onthebackoftheremotecontrolremovethe
batterycompartmentcoverbypressingonthecatch
andpullingthecoverdown.
2. Insert the batteries, making sure that they are properly
oriented with the positive (+) and negative (-) ends
as specified on the battery compartment labels.
3. Assemblethebatterycompartmentcover.

There is a risk of explosion if a battery is damaged
or replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used
batteries properly (see “information for the consumers
on batteries end of life” in chapter 6 - Product notes).
Donotdisassemble,crush,punctureorincineratethe
battery.Onlydischargedbatteriesshouldbedisposed
of.Donotshort-circuit.
4.1 How it works
This Remote control is designed to control both the Set
Top Box and the TV and therefore works in two modes:
•Set-TopBox(STB):STBkeypressedandblinksupona
keyentrywheninthismode
•TVmode:TVkeypressedandblinksuponakeyentry
wheninthismode
To navigate through the Cytavision menus the STB
mode must be selected (see separate Service User
Guide).
When in TV mode this Remote Control can manage
the following TV functions:
•PowerON/OFF  
•Numberkeys(0-9)  
•Program(up/down) 
•Volume(up/down)  
•Mute   
•AVkey    
•OKandarrowkeys 
•Specialfunctionkeys   
  (red,green,yellow, blue)
4.2 Programming procedures for Remote
Control to control the TV set
There are programming procedures that make it
possible to control the TV set with the STB remote
control as described in the following sections 4.2.1 and
4.2.2.
The programmed code is retained during batteries
change.

4.2.1 Manual Brand search
In order to manually introduce the TV code, you must
follow these steps:
1. To begin the procedure your TV must be switched on.
2. Press and hold the digits “1” and “3”
simultaneously for a minimum of 3 seconds.
3. After 3 seconds, the TV LED on the remote control
will turn on. Release the keys.
4. Now enter the 4-digit code for the appropriate TV
brand (please refer to APPENDIX A). When a digit is
pressed, the TV LED gives a short inverse blink and
after the fourth digit is entered, the remote checks if
the 4-digit code is valid.
5. If correct, the TV LED will do a confirmation blink
and remain switched on. If the code is not valid, the
remote control will execute an error-blink and return
to normal operation mode.
6. Then hold the Power or Mute key; after 2 seconds,
the TV LED will blink during transmission of the code. If
the TV is turned off or goes mute depending on which
button was pressed for 2 seconds, it means that the
right code was transmitted.
7. When the right code is transmitted, release the
Power or Mute button and normally the TV will be
turned off or go mute respectively to indicate that the
correct code was transmitted.
8. Press HOME and STOP key simultaneously to save
your set up after getting the correct codes.
4.2.2 Auto Search
Ifyouarenotabletofindthepropercodefora
particularbrandofequipmentlisted,ornoneofthe
listedcodesforthatbrandseemtowork,please
performanautocodesearchoftheentirecode
databaseforthatmode.
InordertointroducetheTVcode,youmustfollow
thesesteps:
1.TobegintheprocedureyourTVmustbeswitched
on.
2.Pressandholdthedigits“1”and“3”simultaneously
foraminimumof3seconds.
3.After3secondstheTVLEDoftheremotecontrolof
STBwillturnon.Releasethekeys.
4.Nowpressthedigits“0000”forautosearch.
5.Ifcorrect,theTVLEDwilldoaconfirmationblinkand
remainon.
Ifthecodeisnotvalid,theremotecontrolofSTBwill
performanerror-blinkandreturntonormaloperation
mode.
6.ThenpressandholdthePowerorMutekey;after2
secondstheremotecontrolwillstartauto-search.You
mustkeepholdingthebuttonuntiltheTVreacts.The
TVLEDwillblinkduringtransmissionofthecode.This
operationmaytakeawhileastheremotecontrolis
searchingthroughhundredsofdifferentTVbrands.
7.IfyoupressthePowerkey,whenfindingtheright
code,theTVwillturndowntoindicatethatthecorrect
codeisfound.IfyoupresstheMutebutton,when
comingacrosstherightcode,theTVwillbemutedto
indicatethatthecorrectcodeisfound.Afteraccessing
therightcode,releasethePowerorMutebutton.

4.3 Locking Volume Control buttons on
Remote Control
TheremotecontrolaccompanyingthenewCytavision
STBofferstheoptionoflockingthevolumecontrols
fromcontrollingthesoundonthedecoder.
WhenTVisprogrammed,Key“VOL+”,“VOL-”,“MUTE”
willalwayssendTVcodeeveninSTBmode.IfTVisnot
programmed,thesekeyswillsendSTBcodeinSTBand
TVmode.
4.4 Resetting the Remote Control to
default settings
ToresettheTVmodeandrestoredefaultsettingof
RemoteControlpleaseusebelowprocedure:
1.Pressdigits“1”and“6”simultaneouslyfor3
seconds.Duringtheinitial3seconds,theLEDswill
remainoff.After3seconds,theTVLEDwillblinktwice
andremainon.
2.Pressdigit“9”,thendigit“8”andthendigit“1”in
thesequenceof9->8->1.
3.Ifthesequenceofkey-pressesisvalid,theremote
controlwilldeleteallthesettingsandreturntothe
factorysettings.

BeforecontactingCYTA,pleasereadthefollowinginstructions.IftheSet-TopBoxdoesnotworknormallyaftercompleting
thefollowingtroubleshootingpleasecontactCYTAsupportservices.
Make sure that the SCART/HDMI™
Cable is firmly connected to the TV.
Check that the TV is using the input
associated to the STB.
Reboot the DSL modem and then
reboot the STB (Refer to section
“How to reboot the STB”)
Make sure that the SCART/HDMI™
Cable is firmly connected to the TV.
Make sure to avoid putting a mobile
phone or microwave oven near the
equipment.
Follow the instructions as displayed
on the video screen
Check the volume level of the TV and
STB. Check the Mute status of the TV
service. Reboot the DSL modem and
then reboot the STB (Refer to section
“How to reboot the STB”)
To control the STB from the remote
control remember to directly point
towards the receiving part of STB’s IR
sensor. Check that the STB remote
control is on STB mode. Check the

The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on the battery, or on its packaging, indicates that, at the end of its life, it must not be
disposed of as unsorted household waste.
