high-performance,wireless adapterthatsupportshigh-speed wireless networking athome,

Unlikemostnetworkcards,theDWL-G650+providesdatatransfersatup to8X(compared
tothe standard11 Mbps)when used withotherD-LinkAirPlusXtremeGproducts.The
802.11g standardisbackwardscompatiblewith802.11b products.Thismeansthatyou
do notneed tochange yourentirenetworktomaintainconnectivity.You maysacrifice
someof802.11g’s speed when you mix802.11b and 802.11g devices,butyou will not
losethe abilitytocommunicatewhen you incorporatethe 802.11g standardintoyour
802.11b network.You maychoosetoslowlychange yournetworkbygraduallyreplacing
the 802.11b deviceswith802.11g devices.
Inaddition tooffering fasterdatatransferspeedswhen used withother802.11g products,
the DWL-G650+hasthe newest, strongest, mostadvanced securityfeaturesavailable
today.When used withother802.11g WPA (WiFiProtected Access)and 802.1x
compatibleproductsinanetworkwitharadiusserver,the securityfeaturesinclude:
WPA*:Anewsecurityfeature,Wi-FiProtectedAccess authorizesand identifies
usersbased on asecretkeythatchangesautomaticallyataregularinterval.
WPAusesTKIP(TemporalKey IntegrityProtocol)tochange the temporalkey
every10,000 packets(apacketisakind ofmessage transmitted overanetwork.)
Thisinsuresmuchgreatersecuritythan the standardWEP security.(By
contrast, the olderWEP encryption required the keys tobe changed manually.)
802.1x*:Authentication isafirstline ofdefenseagainstintrusion.Inthe
Authentication process the serververifiesthe identityofthe clientattempting to
connecttothe network.Unfamiliarclientswouldbe denied access.
Forhomeusersthatwill notincorporateaRADIUSserverintheirnetwork,the security
forthe DWL-G650+,used inconjunction withother802.11g products,will still be much
strongerthan everbefore.Utilizing the PreSharedKey modeofWPA,the DWL-G650+
will obtainanewsecuritykeyeverytimeitconnectstothe 802.11g network.You only
need toinputyourencryption information onceinthe configuration menu.Nolongerwill
you havetomanuallyinputanewWEP keyfrequentlytoensuresecurity,withthe DWL-
G650+,you will automaticallyreceiveanewkeyeverytimeyou connect, vastlyincreasing
the safetyofyourcommunications.
