System Requirements and Equipment
•A computer with a y operati g system that supports a web browser.
•A web browser to access the web-based i terface of the router: Wi dows
I ter et Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Opera.
•A NIC (Ether et or Wi-Fi adapter) to co ect to the router.
•A 802.11b, g, or Wi-Fi adapter to create a wireless etwork.

CONNECTING TO PC
PC with Ethernet Adapter
1. Make sure that your PC is powered off.
2. Co ect a Ether et cable betwee a y of LAN ports located o the back
pa el of the router a d the Ether et port of your PC.
3. Co ect the power cord to the power co ector port o the back pa el of
the router, the plug the power adapter i to a electrical outlet or power
strip.
4. Tur o the router by pressi g the ON/OFF butto o its back pa el.
5. Tur o your PC a d wait u til your operati g system is completely
loaded.
Now you should co figure your PC to obtai a IP address automatically (as
DHCP clie t).

Obtaining P Address Automatically
in OS Windows XP
1. Click the Start butto a d proceed to the Control Panel > Network
and Internet Connections > Network Connections wi dow.
2. I the Network Connections wi dow, right-click the releva t Local
Area Connection ico a d select the Properties li e i the me u
displayed.
3. I the Local Area Connection Properties wi dow, o the General
tab, select the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) li e. Click the Properties
butto .

4. Select the Obtain an IP address automatically a d Obtain DNS
server address automatically radio butto s. Click the OK butto .
5. Click the ОК butto i the co ectio properties wi dow.
Now your computer is co figured to obtai a IP address automatically.

Obtaining P Address Automatically
in OS Windows 7
1. Click the Start butto a d proceed to the Control Panel wi dow.
2. Select the Network and Sharing Center sectio . (If the Co trol Pa el
has the category view (the Category value is selected from the View by
drop-dow list i the top right cor er of the wi dow), choose the View
network status and tasks li e u der the Network and Internet
sectio .)
3. I the me u located o the left part of the wi dow, select the Change
adapter settings li e.
4. I the ope ed wi dow, right-click the releva t Local Area Connection
ico a d select the Properties li e i the me u displayed.
5. I the Local Area Connection Properties wi dow, o the
Networking tab, select the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
li e. Click the Properties butto .

PC with Wi-Fi Adapter
1. Co ect the power cord to the power co ector port o the back pa el of
the router, the plug the power adapter i to a electrical outlet or power
strip.
2. Tur o the router by pressi g the ON/OFF butto o its back pa el.
3. Tur o your PC a d wait u til your operati g system is completely
loaded.
4. Tur o your Wi-Fi adapter. As a rule, moder otebooks with built-i
wireless NICs are equipped with a butto or switch that tur s o /off the
wireless adapter (refer to your PC docume ts). If your PC is equipped
with a pluggable wireless NIC, i stall the software provided with your
Wi-Fi adapter.
Now you should co figure your Wi-Fi adapter.

1. Click the Start butto a d proceed to the Control Panel > Network
and Internet Connections > Network Connections wi dow.
2. Select the ico of the wireless etwork co ectio a d make sure that
your Wi-Fi adapter is o .
3. Search for available wireless etworks.
4. I the ope ed Wireless Network Connection wi dow, select the
wireless etwork DIR-615 a d click the Connect butto .
After that the Wireless Network Connection Status wi dow appears.

ote that immediately after cha gi g the wireless default setti gs of the

ewly specified setti gs.

the taskbar.

6. I the ope ed wi dow, i the list of available wireless etworks, select the
wireless etwork DIR-615 a d click the Connect butto .
7. Wait for about 20-30 seco ds. After the co ectio is established, the
etwork ico will be displayed as the sig al level scale.

CONFIGURING ROUTER
Connecting to Web-based nterface
1. Start a web browser.
2. I the address bar of the web browser, e ter the IP address of the router
(by default, the followi g IP address is specified: 192.168.0.1). Press
the Enter key.
3. O the ope ed page, e ter the user ame a d password for the
admi istrator accou t i the Login a d Password fields
correspo di gly (by default, the followi g user ame a d password are
specified: admin, admin). The click the Enter li k.

If the error “ The page cannot be displayed ” (or “ Unable to display the
page ”/“ Could not connect to remote server ”) occurs upo co ecti g to
the web-based i terface of the router, make sure that you have properly
co ected the router to your computer.

Right after the first access to the web-based i terface you are forwarded to the
page for cha gi g the admi istrator password specified by default.
E ter a ew password i the Password a d Con irmation fields (you may
use digits, Lati letters (uppercase a d/or lowercase), a d characters available
o the keyboard), the click the Save li k.
!
Remember or write dow the ew password for the admi istrator
accou t. I case of losi g the ew password, you ca access the setti gs
of the router o ly after restori g the factory default setti gs via the
hardware RESET butto . This procedure wipes out all setti gs that you
have co figured for your router.

After successful registratio the router's quick setti gs page ope s.
The web-based i terface of the router is multili gual. Select a eeded la guage
from the me u displayed whe the mouse poi ter is over the Language
captio . You ca cha ge the la guage of the web-based i terface i a y me u
item.
After selecti g the la guage, the otificatio o u saved cha ges will be
displayed. Click the Save ico ( ) to save the curre t la guage of the
web-based i terface as the default la guage.

The quick setti gs page displays ge eral i formatio o the router a d its
software (the versio a d the date of the firmware, the IP address of the
device, the ame of the WLAN, etc.).
O the quick setti gs page, you ca quickly get to some pages of the web-
based i terface or ru a eeded Wizard (use the li ks o the left side of the
page).
From the quick setti gs page you ca switch to the adva ced setti gs sectio .
To do this, click the Advanced settings li k i the bottom right cor er of
the page.
Also you ca fi d a specific page via search. To do this, e ter the ame of the
page, wholly or partly, i the search bar i the top part of the web-based
i terface page, a d the select a eeded li k i the search results.

Configuring Connection to the nternet
!
You should co figure your WAN co ectio i accorda ce with data
provided by your I ter et service provider (ISP). Make sure that you
have obtai ed all ecessary i formatio prior to co figuri g your
co ectio . Otherwise co tact your ISP.
Configuring WAN Connection
1. Go to the Net / WAN page, select the WAN co ectio a d click the
Delete butto .
2. Click the Add butto .
3. I the General settings sectio , select a eeded value from the
Connection Type drop-dow list.
4. From the Port drop-dow list, select the Internet value.
5. Specify a ame for your co ectio (a y ame for easier ide tificatio ) i
the Name field.

6. If your ISP uses MAC address bi di g, i the Ethernet sectio , i the
MAC field, e ter the MAC address registered by your ISP upo
co cludi g the agreeme t. To set the MAC address of the etwork
i terface card (of the computer that is bei g used to co figure the router
at the mome t) as the MAC address of the WAN i terface, click the
Clone MAC Address butto ( ). To set the address of a device
co ected to the router's LAN at the mome t, select the releva t value
from the drop-dow list (the field will be filled i automatically).
7. For connection of PPPoE type: i the PPP sectio , e ter authorizatio
data provided by your ISP (the user ame (logi ) i the Username field
a d the password i the Password a d Password con irmation
fields), or select the Without authorization checkbox if authorizatio
is ot required.

8. For connection of Static IP type: i the IP sectio , fill i the IP
Address, Netmask, Gateway IP address, a d Primary DNS
server fields.
9. For connection of Dynamic IP type: if your ISP has provided the address
of the DNS server, i the IP sectio , deselect the Obtain DNS server
addresses automatically checkbox a d fill i the Primary DNS
server field.

10. For connection of PPTP + Static IP or 2TP + Static IP type: i the IP
sectio , fill i the IP Address, Netmask, Gateway IP address, a d
Primary DNS server fields. The i the VPN sectio , e ter
authorizatio data provided by your ISP (the user ame (logi ) i the
Username field a d the password i the Password a d Password
con irmation fields), or select the Without authorization checkbox if
authorizatio is ot required. I the VPN server address field, e ter
the IP or URL address of the PPTP or L2TP authe ticatio server. If your
ISP applies e cryptio , select a eeded value from the Encryption drop-
dow list.
