2 Safety
Dürr Technik has developed and constructed the
units in such a way that danger is to a large
extent excluded if the units are used as intended.
Nevertheless, residual risks can remain. You
should therefore observe the following notes.
2.1 Intended use
The unit is intended for the compression of
atmospheric air. The unit has been designed for
operation in dry, ventilated rooms. The unit must
not be operated in a damp or wet environment.
Its use in the vicinity of gases or flammable liq-
uids is prohibited. Only operate the mobile units
in an upright position.
2.2 Improper use
Any use of this appliance / these appliances
above and beyond that described in the Installa-
tion and Operating Instructions is deemed to be
incorrect usage. The manufacturer cannot be
held liable for any damage resulting from incor-
rect usage. The operator will be held liable and
bears all risks.

4.5 Instructions for use – pressure vessels for 230 V units
The pressure vessel shall only be used for the application specified above and in accordance with the
technical specifications. Safety reasons prohibit any other application. The pressure vessel has been
designed according to Directive 2014/29/EU as a single component without any safety equipment for
the above-mentioned application. Before putting the vessel into service, it shall be equipped with the
necessary safety devices, such as a pressure test gauge, safety devices for protection against exces-
sive pressure, etc. Such components are not part of our schedule of delivery. No welding or heat treat-
ment of any kind is permitted to those vessel walls which are exposed to pressure. It must be ensured
that the internal pressure will not permanently exceed the maximum working pressure „PS“ stipulated
on the vessel nameplate; however, it may momentarily do so by up 10 %. Suitable measures are to be
taken to prevent both, stress by vibrations and pulsating pressure as well as corrosion.
The pressure vessel shall be assembled in such a manner that sufficient safety is guaranteed during
operation of the vessel (for instance no rigid connection to the floor or to the machine base frame with-
out any vibration damper).
The detailed user’s guide provided by the equipment supplier shall contain in consideration of the equip-
ment parts:
Die vom Ausrüster zu erstellende Betriebsanweisung muss unter Berücksichtigung der Ausrüstungsteile
enthalten:
– a) instructions for condensation draining,
– b) specifications for maintenance, in order to ensure the operational safety.
Furthermore, the equipment supplier shall specify whether the pressure vessel ready for operation shall
be subjected to an inspection prior to its initial operation. The equipment supplier / operator shall
observe currently valid laws and regulations for the operation of pressure vessels in the particular coun-
try.
The design is based on predominantly stationary internal pressure, covering the following operating
parameters.
1000 load cycles from 0 to PS and resistant to a fatigue strength at a pressure variation range of 1,0 bar
(10% PS)

4.7 Instructions for use – pressure vessels for 115 V units
The pressure vessel has been manufactured as a single component without safety equipment. The
pressure vessel must only be used in accordance with the aforementioned intended purpose and in
accordance with the specified technical data. Other forms of use are not permitted for reasons of safety.
It has been designed for predominantly static internal pressure loads.
Before commissioning, the vessel must be fitted with the necessary safety equipment such as a pres-
sure gauge and safety equipment designed to protect against overpressure, etc. These parts are not
included in our scope of delivery.
No welding work or heat treatment may be carried out on the pressure-retaining walls of the vessel.
Vibration stress that would be damaging for the pressure vessel and corrosion on the vessel must be
prevented using appropriate measures.
The pressure vessel must be assembled and installed in such a way that it remains safe to use (e.g. no
rigid connections to the floor or machine base frame without suitable vibration dampers).
The operating instructions to be provided by the equipment supplier must include the following informa-
tion in accordance with the equipment fitted:
– a) Instructions for draining the condensate
– b) Instructions and information about maintenance to ensure safety of use
The supplier must also specify whether the pressure vessel, when fully equipped for operation, has to
undergo an acceptance test before commissioning. The supplier/owner must observe the laws and reg-
ulations regarding the operation of the pressure vessel that apply in the country of operation.

5.1 Unit without membrane-dry-
ing unit
The unit draws in atmospheric air and com-
presses it. It transports the oil-free compressed
air via the cooler to the pressure vessel. The oil-
free and filtered air is made available to the con-
sumers in the pressure vessel.
If compressed air is removed for a consumer, the
pressure in the vessel drops. When the switch-on
pressure is reached, the unit is automatically
switched on again via the pressure switch. When
the cut-off pressure is reached, the unit is auto-
matically switched off. A safety valve prevents the
maximum permissible vessel pressure from being
exceeded.
5.2 Unit with membrane-drying
unit
The unit draws in atmospheric air and com-
presses it. It transports the oil-free compressed
air to the membrane-drying unit. The cooler and
the membrane-dryer extract moisture from the
compressed air. The oil-free, hygienic and dry air
is stored in the pressure vessel ready for the con-
sumers.
If compressed air is removed for a consumer, the
pressure in the vessel drops. When the switch-on
pressure is reached, the unit is automatically
switched on again via the pressure switch. When
the cut-off pressure is reached, the unit is auto-
matically switched off. A safety valve prevents the
maximum permissible vessel pressure from being
exceeded.

Assembly
6 Requirements
The room chosen for set up has to meet the fol-
lowing requirements:
– Closed, dry, well-ventilated room
– It should not be a room made for another pur-
pose (e.g. boiler room or wet cell)
– Set up the device on a clean, level, sufficiently
stable surface (minding the weight of the
device).
– Set up or install the device properly such that
the rating plate is easy to read and the device
is easily accessible for operation and mainte-
nance.
– Set up the device properly such that the outlet
to which the device is connected is easily
accessible.
– Room temperature: +5 °C to +40 °C (for
SICOLAB 062/062M/062MFA/100/100M/
100MFA).
– Room temperature: +5 °C to +35 °C (for
SICOLAB 200/200M/200MFA).
– Keep a sufficient distance from the wall to
allow air to freely flow in and out.
The air is filtered during intake. The air
composition remains unchanged. There-
fore, keep the intake air free of hazardous
substances (e.g. do not aspirate air from
an underground car park or right next to a
suction machine).
NOTICE
Risk of overheating due to insufficient
ventilation
The units generates heat. Possibility of
heat damage and/or reduced service life
of the unit.
❯Do not cover the unit.
❯Air must be able to flow in and out
unobstructed.
❯Ventilation openings must be suffi-
ciently large.
❯Installed units may require an inde-
pendent ventilation system in unfavour-
able cases.
The unit must only be operated on a stable, even
base. The unit must not be used as a climbing
aid. Danger of breakage!
