ADJUSTING
&
POSlTlONlNG
YOUR
COLLAR
FOR PROPER
FIT
I
position are very important to
insure safety and correct
functioning everytime you
All electronic collars need to be
very snug to work properly. They
must bejust tight enough to allow
the "prongs" or electrodes to make good skin contact.
Lf
your collaris too loose, the stimulation may not work
properly because good skin contact is not being achieved.
This can directly affect the stimulation performance and
whether or not the dog will receive the stimulation.
Always check for good "prong" contact if it appearsthat
your dog is not responding to the stimulation.
A loose collar can promote skin irritationfrom moving or
rubbing too much on a dog's neck while they are running
or training. Theproper snug fit will help prevent this
from occurring.
Proper fit of the collar is important. It shouldbejust
tight enough on the dog's neck to make good skin contact
and allow the dog to breath normally. The collar should
never be so tight on the dog's neck that it restrictsthe
dog's normal breathing pattern.
For proper positioning of your collarreceiverbox, it
should be placed on the center of the dog's neck.

TURNING YOUR UNIT ON
&
OFF
I
I
Turning the Unit On:
Press and hold the Power button
on the Collar Receiver. The red
LED will flash for approximately
7
seconds. You may release the
Power button at any time while
the red LED is flashing. The unit
is now ON. The LED indicator will now flash approxi-
mately every
2
seconds.
(Note: You can turn on the Transmitterby pressing any
button on the transmitter. When the transmitter is turned
on, the backlight will light for
5
seconds and then go into
power save mode. In this mode, you will be able to see all
the indicators and icons, but the backlight will be turned
off.)
Turning the Unit Off:
Press and hold the Power button. The red LED will flash
for approximately
7
seconds. You may release the Power
button at any time while the red LED is flashing. The unit
is now OFF.
(Note: Because of the power save mode, the Transmitter
will turn off after one hour. When the LCD display is on
and has visible markings, it can be manually turned off by
pressing the "Intensity
Up"
and "Intensity Down" buttons
at the same time for more than
2
seconds.)

The first and most important step in training your dog with
your SPT Training System is the determination of the cor-
rect Intensity Level to provide the proper training stimula-
tion without over stimulatingyour dog.
To do this, place the collar
ON
and place it on the dog's
neck. Press the Intensity LevelAdjustment Down button
until the LCD display shows that the system is set on level
1. Press eitherthe "NICK"' or the "STIMU." button.
Increase the Intensity Level in increments ofjust one or
two until the dog feels the stimulation. You shouldbe able
to tell when the dog is feelingthe stimulation by a twitch
of the ear, a confused look, etc. At this point increase the
Intensity Level by three. This should be your dog's ideal
training level. (Note: Some dog's may require more or less
stimulation dependingupon their individual nature or size.)
Setting the Intensity Level:
All SPTcollars have
50
available intensity levels
with
1
being the lowest and
50
the highest. The
current Intensity Level is conveniently shown on
the LCD Display. To change intensity levels at
any time, simply press the Up or Down Intensity
Level Adjustment buttons (on the right of the
transmitter). You can change the level one step at
a
time
by
quickly tapping one of the buttons, or you can rapidly
change levels by holding down a button.

Using the Rise Stimulation
The Rise function will gradually increase stimulationfrom
your current intensity level to the maximum intensity level
(level
50)
while the
"RISE
button is being pressed. The
intensity level will return to its original settingwhen the
button is released.
Settingthe Jump Level
1.
Press and hold both the
"JUMP"
button and one of the
Intensity Level Buttons at the same time ("Intensity Up"
button for increase, "Intensity Down" button for decrease).
2.
Release only the Intensity Level button when approxi-
mate desired Intensity Level is met. Keep the
"JUMP"
but-
ton depressed.
3.
With the Jump button still depressed, you can now tap
the
Up
or Down Intensity Level button to fine tune the
level desired.
4.
Like the Rise stimulation, the intensity level will return
to its original settingafter the Jump feature has been used.
To avoid accidentallyshockingyour dog, please make surethat
the collar is NOT on the dog
whilesetting the
jump
level.
If
the
two buttons are not pushed at the EXACT same time, you

with lukewarm water and a mild anti-bacterial soap.
Take care to thoroughly clean the space between the
electrodes and the belt.
The belt and buckle should be cleaned with water and a
mild soap then allowed to dry completely.
Always allow the entire unit to completely
dry
before
using.

Before beginning training your dog shouldbe examined by
a veterinarian to assure that there are no physical reasons
for your dog's excessive barking and to assurethat your

is a very
valuabletool if used correctly. Therefore, it is extremely
important that you completelyunderstand all functionsof
the collar andhow to properly train with it before placing it
on your dog.
Since no electronic device is perfect, there is an extremely
slimpossibilitythat your dog may receive an unintentional
electric stimulation. Therefore, never leave the unit on your
dog while unsupervised.
The electrodes on this collar are made with high grade
stainless steel to help prevent any chemical or allergic
reactions with your dog's skin.
To prevent neck irritation, the collar shouldnever be worn
for more than
12
hours a day. Daily changingthe collar
location on the dog's neck will also help prevent irritations.
It is important to keep the collar clean. Clean the
electrodes regularly with a mild anti-bacteria1soap.
If an irritation is found, carefullywash the dog's neck with
soap and water and then wipe the area with Hydrogen
Peroxide. Dry thoroughly and apply an antibioticointment.
