At the ToughPhone we understand how much you
rely on your phone. That’s why our devices are built
to the highest standard, engineered to operate in
the harshest conditions and deliver the best user

The Defender BEAST in our most ambitious smart
phone to date. A combination of high performance
specifications harnessed with the robust chassis,
it really is smart on the inside, tough on the outside.
The following information will support you with the
necessary guidelines on charging, inserting
sim/micro SD and more basic operations.

Whats in the box

Inserting sim card and Micro SD card
Push the sim tray ejector tool into the small hole
located in the middle bottom of the sim card plate.
Be firm but fair! The tray will lift off and allow you
to remove the plate completely. Insert your micro
sim(s) into the slots following the diagram. A Micro
SD card can be inserted on the left-hand side.
Simply push the sim card tray back into place, you
should hear it click back in.

Powering on
Press and hold the power button (right side of the
phone) for about 2-4 seconds. Follow the on screen
set up wizard.
Set up
When you turn your Beast on for the first time it
will take you through the Google Wizard to set up
your Gmail account, WIFI, sim cards, email accounts
and more. You can always go back and edit or
remove the information in Settings.
Charging the phone
Insert the Type C Micro USB cable (provided) into
the base of the Beast. Simply lift the waterproof
bung for access. Insert the USB into the provided
mains USB plug and plug into the supply. Charge
for no more than 12 hours.

Adjusting the volume
Ringtone, media and in call volume can be adjusted by
pressing the volume rocker on the right of the Beast.
In call volume can only be adjusted during a live call.
More volume options are available in Settings.
Developer key
The Developer key does not function 'out of the box.'
The purpose of the developer key is for partners to
map this key to a specific commend. Potential
commands could be a 'Push to Talk' button or link to
other third party application commands. If you are a
developer or require more information get in touch on
SOS Key/ Short cut button
The SOS key is designed to be pressed in the event of
an emergency. Once set up you can raise the alarm by
pressing and holding the SOS key for about 2/3
seconds. It will provide the recipient with an SOS
message and GPS location (you will need a network
signal for this to work). You can assign SOS contacts
and message content in Settings > SOS key settings.
Short cut button settings can be adjusted in Settings >
Shortcut button settings > Adjust On and Off (top
right) > Select application. Once set up a simple tap
(no more than a second) will launch the application
you have selected.
