SAFETY
Fundamental safety warnings
Danger!
This is an electrical appliance and may cause
electric shock.
You should therefore respect the following sa-
fety warnings:
• Never touch the appliance with damp han-
ds.
• Never use the appliance with bare or wet

PREPARATIONS FOR USE
What water to use
The appliance works with normal tap water.
Important!
Never use other types of water, chemical sub-
stancesordetergents(e.g.perfumedwater,es-
sences,watersoftener,etc).
Setting water hardness
Theironingsystemisttedwitharesinlimesca-
lelterinthetank,enablingnormaltapwaterto
beused.
The resins reduce water hardness and therefore
prolong the working life of the appliance.
Theltermustberegeneratedorreplacedwhen
the FILTER light on the appliance control panel
comes on. To customise the warning according
tothewaterused,proceedasfollows:
• checkthehardnessofyourwaterusingthe
indicator paper Iprovided:
- dipthepaperinthewaterfor1second,
- shaketoremoveexcesswater;
- waitfor1minute;
- compare the result with the following
table to conrm the hardness of your
water.

Filling the tank
Danger!
Make sure the cable is unplugged from the
mains socket.
• Thersttimeyouusetheappliance,remove
the cap from the resin limescale lter (g.
1).
• Placethelimescaleltersuppliedintheap-
pliance(g.2)andxinpositionbyplacing
theleverinthe position(g.3).
Important!
The appliance will not function without the lime-
scalelter.
Thelter should not be removed after each iro-
ning session,butonlywhenitneedsreplacing
or regenerating (see “Limescale lter mainte-
nance”).
• Openthedoorofthewatertankandll(g.
4).
• Insertthetank(g.5).
Danger!
Make sure the removable tank is firmly in pla-
ce�
Thevalvesupplyingwatertothesteamgenera-
torislocatedonthebottomofthetank.
Ifthetankisnotfullyinsertedandthevalveis
therefore not correctly connected to the applian-
ce,watercouldleakfromtheappliance.
• Plugtheapplianceintoamainssocket.
Please note:
Thersttimeyouusetheappliance,thesteam

OPERATION
Steam ironing
• Pressthe (ironon)buttonQand the
(steamgeneratoron)buttonR. The lights on
thecorrespondingbuttonscomeon.
• Waitforthe light P to come on and the
light Yto go off.
• ProceedbypressingthesteambuttonU.
Please note:
• Whenusedforthersttime,theappliance
maygiveoffsmokeandanodourforseveral
minutes.Thisiscausedbyheatingandsub-
sequentdryingofthesealersusedinassem-
blingthesteamgeneratorandiron.Youare
recommendedtoventilatetheroom.
• Eachtimetheapplianceisturnedon,itper-
formsaself-diagnosiscycleindicatedbythe
lights coming on.
• LightsPand Y will go on and off during iro-
ning,accordingtothetemperaturereached
bythesteamgeneratorandiron.
 Itispartofnormaloperationandnotacause
for concern.
• Whileironing,itisnormaltohearthewater
llpumpcomeonandgooff.Thisiscaused
bytransferofwaterfromthetanktotheste-
am generator. This is part of normal opera-
tion and is not a cause for concern.
Using the “professional” iron
• Afterturningtheapplianceonasdescribed
above,waitforthe“steamready”lightYto
go off.
• Todischargesteam,pressthesteambutton
Uunder the handgrip of the iron.
• Todischargesteamcontinuously,movethe
steam lock Vforwards.
• SomemodelshaveaselectorWto choose
steam at the tip of the iron only or across

the whole plate.  You can choose between
the two functions simply by changing the
positionoftheselector(g.6).
• Theironcanberestedinanuprightposition
(g.7).However,makesurethesurfaceis
attoavoidtheironfallingover.
Using the “domestic” iron
• Afterturningtheapplianceonasdescribed
above,waitforthe“steamready”light Y to
go off.
• To discharge steam, press the steam but-
ton Uunder the handgrip of the iron. Some
modelsalsohaveasteambutton Z1 on the
handgrip.
• Somemodelshavean“auto-off”safetydevi-
ce which turns the iron off if left unused for
30 seconds in the horizontal position or 8
minutesintheuprightposition(g.8).
 When the device is active, light Zflashes.
This light is on steadily during normal use
and indicates that the iron is plugged into
the mains.
 To resume ironing, shake the iron slightly
forwards until light Zcomes on steadily.
 WaitforlightYtogooffbeforedischarging
steam.
• Somemodelshavea“steamburst”button
Z1.Thisfunctioncanbeusedwhentheap-
pliance is ready to discharge steam.
 Theapplianceissetforanintervalof30se-
condsbetweenconsecutiveburstsofsteam
toavoidwaterleakingfromtheplate.
• Theironcanberestedinanuprightposition.
Makesurethesurfaceisattoavoidtheiron
fallingoveraccidentally.Toresttheironcor-
rectly,xthesteam/cabletubeontheright
orleftbypushingitasfarasitwillgountilit
clicks into place.
• Safetransport:theironhasalockingsystem
toavoiditbeingaccidentlydroppedduring
transport or when stored after use.
 Tolocktheironinposition,insertthetipin
the housing on the iron rest and press the
irondownwardsuntilitclicksintoplace(g.
9).
 Toreleasetheiron,pressthe button
Z3andremovetheiron.Whileironing,rest
theironasshowning.10(withoutlocking
in place).
Important!
Nevermoveorlifttheapplianceusingtheironas
a carrying handle.
Adjusting the thermostat
Turnthethermostatknobtosetthe
mostsuitabletemperature for the
typeoffabrictobeironed.
Forsteamironing,thetemperature
must be within the steam sector
shown alongside.
Below is a brief guide to help you choose the
besttemperatureforthetypeoffabrictobeiro-
ned.
l Acetate,acrylic,nylon,polyester,rayon

Steam regulator
ThesteamregulationknobSenablesthequanti-
tyofsteamtobeincreasedordecreasedaccor-
dingtothefabricbeingironed.
Whenyouturntheironon,youarerecommen-
dedtoturnthesteamregulationknobtothema-
ximumsteamposition.
The corresponding light comes on.
Topping up the tank with water
Whenthewaterrunsout,the light comes
on.
Whenthislightcomeson,proceedasdescribed
in the section “Filling the tank”.
Dry ironing
• Todryiron,turntheapplianceonbypressing
the buttonQ(certain models only).
 Inmodelswithasinglebutton,pressthe
button R and do not press the steam but-
ton.
• Turnthethermostatknobtoselectthemost
suitabletemperatureforthegarmentsbeing

ironed and wait for the “iron at temperature”
light to go off.
MAINTENANCE
Limescale filter maintenance
WhentheFILTERlightcomeson,theltermust
beregeneratedorreplaced.
Toregeneratethelter,proceedasfollows:
• Turntheapplianceoffbypressing the
and buttonsorthe button(depen-
ding on the model), then unplug from the
mains.
• Removethewatertank.
• Removethelimescalelter.
• PlacetheresinlterinthelterholderJ(g.
11).(Youarerecommendedtodothisover
the kitchen sink).
• Attachthetanktotheresinlter.
• Dissolvethecontentsofthesachetofcitric
acid supplied (K)ina1litrejugoftapwa-
ter.
• Pour the resulting solution into the tank
and allow all the contents to pass through
thelter (about 20 minutes),then wait for
a minimum of 40 minutes to regenerate the
limescalelter.
• Torinsethelimescalelter,llthewatertank
with tap water and allow all the contents to
passthroughthelter.
• When the operation is completed, put the
lterandtankbackinplace.
• Plugtheapplianceintothemainsandturn
on.
• PresstheRESETbuttonto conrm the ef-
ciencyofthe lter. The FILTER light goes
off.
• Theapplianceisreadyforuse.
Please note:
Regeneratingtheresinlterguaranteesitslong-
termefciency.However,after10regenerations
(max.5yearsofuse),itshouldbereplaced.
Sachetsofcitricacidandthelimescalelterare
availablefromauthorisedcustomerservices.
Rinsing the steam generator
To optimise operation, maintain constant ste-
am production over time and save energy,
rinsethesteamgeneratorwithwateraftereve-
ry 10 ironing sessions. Proceed as follows:
• Make sure the appliance is turned off, un-
plugged from the mains and completely
cold.
• TurntheprotectivecapFon the side of the
applianceclockwiseandremoveit(g.12).
• Use a coin or screwdriver to unscrew the
steamgeneratorcap(g.12).
• Resttheapplianceonitsside(g.13)andll
withamaximumof0.7litresofwaterusing
afunneltoavoidthewaterspillingoutside
the steam generator.
• Shaketheappliancetorinsetheentiresteam
generator,thenthrowthewateraway.
• Repeattherinseprocedure.
• Screwthecapbackon,makingsureitclo-
sesthesteamgeneratorefciently.
• ReplacetheprotectivecapF.
 Before resuming ironing, discharge steam
into the air for a few seconds to completely
eliminate any residues from the internal cir-
cuits.
Important!
Iftheltercannotberegeneratedorreplaced,to
continueusingtheappliancewiththeexhausted
lter,proceedasfollows:
• Useacointoturnthewaterhardnessregu-
latorLtothepositioncorrespondingtovery
hardwater(irrespectiveoftheresultsobtai-
ned using the indicator paper).
• WhentheFILTERlightcomeson,rinsethe
steamgeneratorasdescribedabove.
• Afterrinsing,presstheRESETbutton.
Thefrequentrinsingwillavoidlimescalebuilding
up in the steam generator.
CLEANING
• Thesurfaceoftheplatemustbekeptclean.
To clean, just wipe the cold surface with a
damp cloth.
• Theironmustneverbetreatedwithdesca-
ling products.
AFTER IRONING
Afternishing ironing, you shouldput the iro-
ning system away with the door tightly closed
toavoiddustandforeignbodiesfallingintothe
tankandpossiblyjeopardisingoperationofthe
pump.

Place the iron on the iron rest (in the secured
position for models with domestic iron) and wait
for the system to cool down before putting it
away.
Toputtheapplianceawaytidily,xthesteam/ca-
bletubetothehookFandwindthepowercable
aroundthecabletidyH (g.14).
Store the iron in a dry place.
Please note:
• Toensureefcientoperationoftheapplian-
ce,thelimescaleltermustnotberemoved
exceptforregeneration.
• Afterironing,thewaterremaininginthetank
neednotbedrained.However,theappliance
shouldbedrainedofwaterifleftunusedfor
long periods.
IRONING TIPS
• Theoriginalappearanceandsoftnessoffa-
bricssuchasvelvetorwool,orgloves,bags
etc. can be restored by passing the iron a
short distance away with the steam jet in
operation.
• Donotrestorusetheirononzips,hooks,
ringsetctoavoidscratchingthesoleplate.
• Separate clothes according to the recom-
mendedironingtemperatureandbeginiro-
ningwithitemsrequiringthelowesttempe-
ratures.
• Silkmaybedry-pressedonthereverse.
• Wool, cotton and ne linen can either be
steam-ironedonthereverseorontheright
side, interposing a thin cloth between the
ironandthefabrictoavoid“shine”.
• Starchedfabricsrequiregreatermoisture.
• Iron whites and light colours on the right
side and dark colours on the reverse. Em-
broideryshouldalsobeironedontherever-
se to make it stand out.
• Eachtimetheironisused(includingforthe
rsttime)orifyouhavenotusedsteamfor
several minutes, press the steam delivery
buttonanumberoftimesawayfromtheiro-
ningboard.
This will eliminate condensation from the
steam circuit.
DISPOSAL
Importantinformationforcorrectdisposal
oftheproductinaccordancewithECDi-
rective2002/96/EC.
Important information for correct disposal of
the product in accordance with EC Directive
2002/96/EC.
Attheendofitsworkinglife,theproductmust
notbedisposedofasurbanwaste.Itmustbe
taken to a special local authority differentiated
wastecollectioncentreortoadealerproviding
thisservice.Disposingofahouseholdappliance
separatelyavoidspossiblenegativeconsequen-
ces for the environment and health deriving
from inappropriate disposal and enables the
constituentmaterialstoberecoveredtoobtain
signicant savings in energy and resources.As
a reminder of the need to dispose of household
appliances separately, the product is marked
withacrossed-outwheeleddustbin.
