Storage and transport:
- This product was designed for mobi e use. P ease on y transport the device in the origina packaging, or in
a f ight case with a suitab e foam in ay.
- This device was not designed for permanent (24/7) use. The expected ifespan of the device wi not be
affected by occasiona y turning the device off. Disconnect the device or turn off the power when it is not
active y in use.
- If the device is not in use for a ong period of time, it shou d be disconnected and stored in a dust-free
environment.
- Do not expose the device to extreme temperature differences.
Housing:
- Inspect the device's housing frequent y and a ways just before use. Avoid operating the device if there are
any arge dents or cracks, or if screws are missing. Do not use the device if the housing is not in good
condition.
Contact your dea er or a qua ified technician if you are unsure about the state of the device.
- Check the device and the screws for corrosion. Corrosion must not be present on this device. Contact your
dea er or a qua ified technician if you find any corrosion on the screws.
Every power and signa connector shou d be secure y attached. Do not use the device if the connectors are
not secure.
- Avoid dust and dirt bui d-up. C ean the device once a month by disconnecting it from the power supp y and
wiping it down with a dry or s ight y moist c oth. If the device is used frequent y, the c eaning interva s shou d
increase.

Operating this Device
Devine Onyx speakers can be used for a wide variety of purposes, but it’s important to be aware of the
fo owing information before use in order to achieve optima performance.
Warning efore Use
Devine Onyx speakers are capab e of producing vo ume eve s that can cause temporary or permanent
hearing damage. Use these units with care and keep the vo ume at a reasonab e eve wherever possib e.
The vo ume shou d idea y be set to a comfortab e eve when istening to music.
Devine cannot be he d iab e for any injuries or damage resu ting from the use of this product.
General Use
Housing
The housing of this Onyx subwoofer is based on a wooden frame supported by interna bracing for a so id
bui d. The exterior is finished with a specia acquer that’s resistant to ight impact and prevents unsight y
scratches.
P ease make sure that during use, insta ation, moving, and transport, this subwoofer is not p aced near any
objects that may fa or cause damage to its housing.
Handles
A Onyx subwoofers have hand es fitted to each side. This is to make moving and transporting the
subwoofer easier.
Protection During Transport
Whi e Onyx speakers are designed to be easi y transported, they are not sp ash or water proof. Caution is
therefore advised if they taken outside when it’s raining or in adverse weather conditions. If they are exposed
to moisture of any kind, ensure that they are comp ete y dry again before use. Fai ure to do so may resu t in a
short circuit which cou d cause permanent damage or injury. Exposure to moisture can a so cause visib e or
invisib e corrosion which may cause damage in the ong term.
Grille
A Onyx speakers are equipped with a meta gri e on the front to protect the speaker components behind it.
There is a so acoustic foam behind the gri e to prevent any unwanted matter from getting inside the speaker.
The gri e shou d, therefore, not be removed.
Distance Rod Flange
Devine Onyx subwoofers are fitted with a f ange with an M20 screw thread into which a distance rod can be
secure y screwed to form a stab e base on which a fu -range speaker (sate ite speaker) can be mounted.
Using this kind of set up saves the space that a norma speaker stand wou d take up. Since the weight of a
subwoofer is usua y greater than that of a standard speaker and has a arger top surface, it provides a more
stab e base than a stand. A ways make sure to p ace the subwoofer on a comp ete y eve surface that is ab e
to withstand the combined weight of a fu -range set up.
Voltage Switch
This speaker is fitted with a vo tage switch so that it can be used in mu tip e set ups. The vo tage switch is
usua y set correct y and shou d not be changed. The vo tage switch is norma y set at 230V as standard. If
you have any doubts, contact your retai er for further advice. P ease note: when setting a different vo tage, a
fuse with a different va ue needs to be insta ed. For more information about this, see the specifications.

Audio Technology
The Onyx speaker series comes with various functions that aim to make the ife of an audio technician that
bit easier. By fo owing the tips and instructions be ow, you’ be ab e to get the best possib e performance
and sound qua ity out of your new speaker.
Connecting the SXA subwoofers to passive speakers
The Onyx SXA subwoofers operate at their best in combination with your retai er-se ected Onyx speakers.
The SXA subwoofers come fitted with ocking speaker sockets that can be used to connect passive speakers
using compatib e cab es (not inc uded).
The ockab e outputs are compatib e with passive speakers with a minimum impedance of 4 Ohms.
luetooth® Wireless Technology
It is of course possib e to use your SXA subwoofer for re ative y simp e app ications. Here, it’s possib e to
make a direct connection with the integrated B uetooth modu e of the bui t-in amp ifier.
Press the ‘Pair’ button to enab e B uetooth coup ing with the subwoofer. The B uetooth signa can then be
detected by any B uetooth capab e device ike a smartphone, tab et or aptop. Once the connection is
estab ished, music can be p ayed back from the device and amp ified by the subwoofer. The B uetooth name
of this subwoofer is ‘Devine Onyx 10SXA’.
The vo ume of any music p ayed back via B uetooth is determined by the audio source and can therefore be
contro ed on the smartphone, tab et, aptop, or other B uetooth capab e device that is being used. It’s a so
possib e to combine a B uetooth signa with the signa of any source connected to the ana ogue inputs of the
subwoofer and to mix and ba ance these signa s.
0-180° Phase Switch
This switch can he p so ve any ow-frequency inhibiting acoustic prob ems. Norma y, this switch is set to 0°
but it is possib e to set it to 180° if you experience any acoustic prob ems in combination with the sate ite
speakers being used.
Connecting Signal Sources with Cables
The Devine Onyx 10SXA is fitted with professiona ba anced combo-sockets to which both standard jack and
XLR p ugs can be connected. These sockets are compatib e with most professiona audio equipment
inc uding DJ contro ers, DJ mixers, PA mixers and so on.
The 10SXA a so comes fitted with stereo ine inputs for equipment ike entry- eve DJ contro ers, or
consumer-grade signa sources. As such, it’s possib e to connect a keyboard, a aptop, tab et or other signa
source with RCA outputs or a 3.5mm mini-jack output. P ease note that in some cases, an adapter or specific
cab e is needed to connect such devices and is not inc uded.
When Using a Microphone
It’s not possib e to direct y connect a microphone to any of the Onyx subwoofers. It is advisab e to first
connect a microphone to a PA mixer so that you have contro over the sound and vo ume. The master output
of the mixer can then be direct y connected to the subwoofer.
For optimum sound qua ity, make sure to ho d the microphone c ose to the mouth: a maximum of around
5cm from the ips. Speak oud y and c ear y into the microphone so that minimum amp ification and gain is
needed. Microphones are usua y directiona y sensitive and as such, wi not pick up any sound that’s
directed at its sides or from behind.

Never ho d a microphone in front of the speakers since this wi cause a feedback oop and resu t in a very
high and piercing tone. If feedback does occur, remove the microphone from the front of the speaker
immediate y and turn the vo ume down so that the feedback oop is c osed and the noise is stopped.
It is a ways advisab e to have speakers or voca ists stand beside or behind the speakers to avoid any
possib e feedback. If it’s direct y in front of, or just to one side of a speaker, the microphone is ike y to pick up
the sound coming from the speaker and cause feedback.
Use with External Peripheral Equipment
It’s possib e to use Onyx speakers in combination with externa periphera equipment ike crossovers,
equa isers, speaker management systems and other simi ar devices. P ease note that the use of such
equipment may a ter the audio characteristics of the speaker.

Troubleshooting
If you have a prob em with your speaker, p ease consu t this troub eshooting section for possib e so utions. If,
after consu ting this section, the prob em remains unreso ved, p ease contact your dea er for more
information and/or he p.
This troub eshooting section contains information on how to so ve the most common speaker prob ems, but it
does not and cannot cover every eventua ity. It is possib e that you won't find your prob em, cause and
so ution in this section because product detai s may differ.
