Getting started
Before we begin
Ensure the plug sockets you
intend to use for the setup
are fully functional —not
damaged, scorched or
otherwise hazardous.
Wall sockets are
recommended over an
adaptor made to mount
multiple power sockets, to
avoid electrical health and
safety risks as a result of
overloading.

Getting started
Before we begin
Make a note of the WiFi key located on the back of
the Magic WiFi adapter.
The Devolo Magic 1 and 2
Whole Home packages
contains two separate
WiFi adapters, both of
which have individual keys.

Installation
Step 1
Connect your Magic WiFi adapter to a free wall
socket nearby. Wait until the Home button’s LED
flashes white. This should take approximately 1
minute.

Step 2
Connect the Devolo Magic LAN adapter to a plug
socket and close enough to your router to link
them via the supplied Ethernet cable. Try to keep
the distance between Lan adapter and WiFi
adapter under 10m.

Step 3
The encryption/data security process should take
place automatically. During this time, the LEDs
on all adapters should be flashing white.
This process should take a maximum of 3
minutes and upon completion, all LEDs will stop
flashing and light up solid white.

If the automatic encryption is unsuccessful, the
Home LED will flash red. To fix this, you will need
to carry out manual pairing of the Magic WiFi
adapters.

Step 1
If the automatic encryption was unsuccessful, you will need to carry out
manual pairing of the Magic WiFi adapters.
Reconnect the Magic WiFi adapter to the wall socket.
Wait until the PLC LED starts to flash white.
approximate waiting time is 1 minute.

Manual installation
Step 2
Within 3 minutes of this occurring:
•press the button located on the side of the Magic
LAN adapter connected to the router for 1 second
•then, press the Home button on the Magic WiFi
adapter for 2 seconds.
Once all the LEDs are lit up solid white, the manual
pairing process is complete.

Mesh technology, an optional but highly
recommended feature which requires
separate configuration

Mesh technology
Together with powerline networking, Devolo Magic
adapters combine to provide Mesh WiFi throughout
your home, so you can browse the internet using the
strongest possible connection, be free to move around
your home.
Devolo Magic clones your router’s WiFi details,
providing a consistent WiFi ID throughout the home.
This means you won’t need to keep signing inwith
different WiFi log ins.

Mesh configuration
Step 1
Connect the Magic WiFi adapter to a free wall socket
within 10 metres of your router. (You will only need
one WiFi adapter for this process.)
Wait until the Home LED lights up solid white.

Step 2
Press the Home button on the Magic WiFi adapter for
1 second and wait for the LED to flash white.
Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your
router.

Step 3
Once the Home LED lights up solid white, the process
has completed successfully. It will automatically
update for both Magic WiFi adapters.

You’re all set!
You are now free to disconnect your Magic WiFi
and put it in your preferred location.
Have fun browsing the web seamlessly no matter
where you are in your home!
