CAUTION!
Any use of the chemical oxygen self-contained self-rescuer requires full understanding and strict
observation of this «User manual». Only in this case using Ci-30 KS guarantees safety and protection of
the respiratory system.
The chemical oxygen self-contained self-rescuer is only to be used for the purposes specified here.
INTENDED USE
«User manual» is intended for study of device and requirements for everyday carrying, donning
and operation of chemical oxygen self-contained self-rescuer Ci-30 KS.
Self-contained self-rescuer (hereinafter – SCSR) Ci-30 KS is a personal respiratory protection
device which uses a chemical (KO2) to produce oxygen and is intended for escape in the event of
exposure to an irrespirable atmosphere such as smoke, toxic gases or oxygen deficiency.
Name of self-contained self-rescuer consists of:
«Ci» – the name of self-contained self-rescuer;
«30» – rated duration (30 min);
«K» – means that the device uses chemical to produce oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide
(KO2device);
«S» – means that self-contained self-rescuer is designed for underground use.
SCSR is designed and suitable for everyday carrying on the waist belt and for storage in rescue
chambers or changeover stations that are placed on routes out of danger zone in mines, as well
as in tunnels.
SCSR is used for protection of respiratory system and eyes in case of underground workers
escape from irrespirable environments due to fire, explosion, and sudden release of gas or coal
dust or lacking of oxygen.
SCSR may be used in other applications by agreement with manufacturer, where there is a risk of
atmosphere, that is dangerous to life and health.
It is prohibited to use a SCSR during any physical performance, for example for underground
firefighting.
SCSR is ready for use in mines of different hazard category; those prone to sudden outbursts of
coal and gases, mines with aggressive production environment with acid mine drainage and water
with high concentration of corrosion-active components: chloride and sulfate ions. Ci-30 KS is
intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
SCSR has no restrictions for use and exploitation due to any medical or physiological conditions
of user.
SCSR is an antistatic disposable self-contained closed-circuit breathing apparatus for
escape and satisfies all requirements of Regulation 2016/425/EU with a Category III,
EN 13794:2002, IS 15803:2008.
The self-rescuer meets the requirements of AS/NZS 1716:2012, Technical reference guide (TRG)
for escape breathing apparatus for underground mining application.
Notified Body involved in the conformity assessment of PPE – Eurofins Product Testing Italy
S.r.l., Via Courgnè, n.21, 10156 TORINO, ITALY (No. 0477) who performed the EU type examination
(Module B) and issued the EU type-examination certificate № EPT 0477.PPE.21/4606.1. The PPE
is subject to the conformity assessment procedure to type based on internal production control
plus supervised product checks at random intervals (Module C2) under surveillance of the notified
body Eurofins Product Testing Italy S.r.l., Via Courgnè, n.21, 10156 TORINO, ITALY (No. 0477).
EU declaration of conformity is supplied with the SCSR. Please contact manufacturer for copy.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Protect from mechanical damages, which can break the casing and KO2cartridge.
Unseal only when it is intended to be used for self escape.
SCSR should be kept away from machines or equipment to prevent accidental damage.
Keep unsealed self-rescuers away from liquid or solid combustible materials.
Do not expose to heat.
It is prohibited to sit on self-contained self-rescuer.
Open a SCSR only for proper use – donning and escape in case of emergency.
Damaged self-contained self-rescuers where oxygen-containing product has direct contact with
ambient atmosphere shall be immediately withdrawn from service, delivered to the surface of
mine and disposed in accordance with the «Disposal» section of this Manual.
DANGEROUS!
If self-rescuer is damaged, the oxygen – containing product can cause ignition of coal, wood or other
flammable materials.
PRIOR TO USE – EXAMINE THE FOLLOWING
Before wearing of a SCSR check that:
- lid and casing are not damaged and have no cracks, holes or splits;
- coupling straps are undamaged;
- self-rescuer is sealed by security seal;
- belt loops are undamaged and fixed on the case;

If the self-rescuer does not satisfy any of these abovementioned criteria, it should be withdrawn, placed
into an individual, tightly closed plastic bag and sent to an authorized service center.
- moisture indicator is blue or white and not damaged (if moisture has penetrated into the
oxygen self-rescuer, the color of the moisture indicator changes to pink)1.
Regular visual inspection of moisture indicator allows to control normal operating condition of
SCSR without special equipment. Blue or white color of indicator is a sign of normal operating
condition.

If moisture indicator changes its color to pink, SCSR shall be checked using a leak testing machine
(UPG or analogue) by positive pressure 50 mbar (5 kPa or 500 mm w.c.). If pressure drop is less
than 4 mbar (400 Pa or 40 mm w.c.) within 15sec, SCSR may be used up to 10 days.
After these 10 days, SCSR shall be withdrawn from the service.
If pressure drop is more than 4 mbar (400 Pa or 40 mm w.c.) within 15 sec, then SCSR shall be
immediately withdrawn from the service.
Withdrawn self-rescuers shall be placed into the individual tightly closed plastic bag and sent to
the authorized service center or representative for a decision about further using.

CARRYING METHOD
Every day – on the waist belt (see picture below).
After donning – on the neck strap in front.
It is strictly recommended to use a specially designed DEZEGA
WAIST BELT.
CAUTION!
If self-rescuer is damaged the oxygen-containing product can
cause ignition of coal, wood or other flammable materials.
OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The starter 15 is activated when the SCSR is opened by removal of the lid 16. The starter releases
oxygen, heat and moisture. Oxygen fills breathing bag 13 and provides the user with oxygen to
breathe before heat and moisture from exhaled breath activate the oxygen-generating cartridge
with KO2.
The mouthpiece plug 6 is released from the mouthpiece when breathing hose 4 and breathing
bag 13 are pulled out.
The SCSR has a pendulum scheme of airflow. Breathing air passes through the mouthpiece 2
and heat and moisture exchanger 3 via the breathing hose from the KO2cartridge to the breathing
bag and backwards. Chemical product (КО2) in the cartridge absorbs carbon dioxide (СО2) and
moisture from the exhaled breath and emits oxygen. Surplus breathing gas is expelled via relief
valve 14.
The absorption of carbon dioxide and production of oxygen by the KO2is exothermic (producing
heat). This temperature increase will be noticed by the wearer on the casings and in the inhaled
gas. Warming is a sign of the normal operation of the self-rescuer, and should be expected.
A moisture indicator 17 is located on the lid of the self-rescuer. If the indicator has changed
color from blue or white to pink, the case seal has been damaged and the self-rescuer should be
withdrawn from service and not used.
CAUTION!
The self-rescuer is for single use only.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USING,
RECORD-KEEPING AND HANDLING
Perform visual inspection and check for leakage SCSR using UPG prior to putting into service.
Appropriate unique number for deployed SCSR and record this information into «Mine registration
log book for self-contained self-rescuers». SCSR may be used by each worker individual or by
separate production sections.
Reserve (not individual) SCSR recommended to record in «Mine registration log book for reserved
self-contained self-rescuers for mine workers and outside organizations».
Service life will be calculated from the date of manufacturing indicated on coupling strap if there
is no information in «Mine registration log book for self-contained self-rescuers».
Take SCSR from lamp room and perform visual check in accordance with «PRIOR TO USE» prior
to descending into the mine.
It is prohibited to leave SCSR close to heat-radiating devices, wash by water and use as support
arrangement and sitting. It is allowed to clean SCSR with wet cloth.
DONNING PROCEDURE
Immediately don the self-rescuer in case of emergency (sudden release of gas, fire, explosion).
Donning procedure:
Step 1:
• Take a deep breath and then hold your breath.
• Put the self-rescuer in front of you.

Step 2:
• Firmly hold the casing with your left hand.
• Hook and lift up the lock lever of the coupling straps
with right hand tearing the sealing wire.
• Tightly grasp the lock lever and cover plate with right
hand.
• Continue moving the strap fully to the right, tear off
the cover plate.
• Unhook the coupling straps from the casing.
• Lift off the lid holding the case with one hand and
throw it away. Starter is activated.
Step 3:
• Remove helmet.
• Bend your head and put the neck strap over your
head around your neck.
• Put on helmet.

Step 4:
• Pull up the heat and moisture exchanger (while doing
this, the plug releases from the mouthpiece).
• Straighten the breathing bag and the breathing hose
• Place mouthpiece into your mouth, between your lips
and gums.
• Firmly grasp the mouthpiece with your teeth.
• Spread nose clip apart and place clips over both
nostrils.
• Take a deep exhalation
• Continue to breathe calmly through your mouth.
You are already isolated from
the surrounding atmosphere
Step 5:
• Slightly raising the casing with both hands, disconnect
loops from the grooves of the casing with your thumbs.
• Spread the heat shield between the casing and your
body.

CAUTION!
If the breathing bag is partially filled, breathe out powerfully several times until breathing bag has
been filled.
After donning the self-rescuer:
– Leave the emergency site walking steadily. Running and fast walking are not recommended.
Hasty breathing consumes more oxygen.
– Walk slower or stop in case of any breathing difficulties, recover normal breathing rhythm
and then continue walking.
CAUTION!
Do not remove mouthpiece or nose clip, do not try to talk through it, and do not inhale the surrounding air
before arriving at a known fresh air location.
Gradual heating of self-rescuer casing is a sign of normal working condition of SCSR.
Temperature depends on respiratory load. The maximum surface temperature on the wearer’s
side of heat shield is 60 °C. The maximum temperature of external parts of SCSR which not in
direct contact with the user during the use is 105°C.
SCSR with hot parts exposed to ambient enviroment is suitable to use in explosive atmosphere.
Normal cotton clothing should provide an acceptable level of comfort from the increases in
temperature of the case.
CAUTION!
Using of heat shield is a must for your safety to avoid overheat.
Step 6:
• Adjust the length of the neck strap by
pulling on the pull tab with right hand
and lifting the unit with your left hand to a
comfortable position.
• Weight of the self-rescuer should not pull
the mouthpiece out of your mouth.
• Circle around your body the left (long) end
of the chest strap, fasten it, and adjust
the length by pulling on the pull tab with
the right hand.
• Put on protective goggles.
• Calmly follow the escape route to a place
of safety.
The total time of donning procedure
should take no more than
15 seconds.

CHANGE-OVER PROCEDURE
If it is necessary to don a new oxygen self-rescuer during escape, proceed as follows:
– Take a new self-rescuer, sit or kneel down.
– Continue breathing from the old oxygen self-rescuer and hold it on your lap.
– Take off the helmet and unfasten neck and chest strap.
– Open a new self-rescuer according to «Donning procedure», Step 2.
– Take a deep breath from the old self-rescuer, remove the old mouthpiece and nose clip,
quickly don the new self-rescuer, adjust the neck strap, fasten the chest strap and continue
going to a place of safety in accordance with Steps 3-7.
TRAINING
CAUTION!
Training is obligatory. Only a trained user can use SCSR.
It is recommended to perform first training under the supervision of qualified instructors in training
room.
The user’s training program should include knowledge of this manual and practical exercises for
donning apparatus, belts adjustment and walking with the apparatus.
A Training self-rescuer is available and should be used for regular trainings and refresher training.
Attainments of breathing with SCSR need regular training and consolidation of knowledge.
Insufficient training may cause panic in case of emergency and inhalation of dangerous gases
from irrespirable atmosphere. To avoid panic reaction we strongly recommend performing training
using Training device with disposable breathing training kits for 15 min of duration.
Training device with training regenerative cartridge completely imitate donning and breathing
conditions of real SCSR.

INSPECTIONS AND SERVICE
No special technical servicing is required for storage and operation of SCSR (see table below).

A register should be maintained for each self-rescuer detailing servicing, dates tested and results
obtained for the entire shelf life of each self-rescuer.
Maintenance inspection consists of:
• daily inspections;
• regular inspection with participation of executives from ventilation and mine occupational
safety departments.
Daily inspection is a visual inspection in accordance with «PRIOR TO USE» and visual inspection
at the end of shift.
Daily inspection at the end of shift include: cleaning of SCSR from coal dust by wet cloth or
vacuum cleaner, visual inspection of moisture indicator, continuity of case and lid, as well as
continuity of all external components and details.
Regular inspection of deployed SCSR should be performed once per 3 (three) months, for SCSR
cashed underground in refuge chambers or change-over stations – once per 6 (six) months.
For the users, whose day-to-day operations are regulated by the document «Empfehlungen des
Deutschen Ausschusses für das Grubenrettungswesen für die Unterweisung im Gebrauch sowie
für die Instandhaltung von Sauerstoffselbstrettern», it is allowed to perform regular inspection for
SCSR with moisture indicator as specified in this document.
Regular inspection includes:
• visual inspection of case and lid. Inspection of availability and continuity of all external
details and components;
• for SCSR with moisture indicator – visual check of indicator’s color. Normal operation color
is blue or white. SCSR is not leaktight if indicator changes color to pink;
• Leak test using leak testing machine UPG with positive pressure 50 mbar
(5 kPa or 500 mm w.c.). SCSR is leaktight and suitable for using if pressure drop in device
chamber is lower than 4 mbar (400 Pa or 40 mm w.c.) within 15 sec.
DANGEROUS!
SCSRs which didn`t pass leak test, shall be immediately be withdrawn from service, placed into individual
tightly closed plastic bag and sent to the authorized service center or authorized representative for
decision about further using.
It is allowed to perform routine repairs of SCSR on the mine. Routine repair includes: replace of
cover plate, replace of pictograms and reflecting labels.
It is recommended to store and register date and results of periodical inspections and routine
repairs of each SCSR in lamp room within service life of unit.
Service life is guaranteed only in case of regular performing of maintenance inspection and
service.

DISPOSAL
Used self-rescuers, expired, as well as self-rescuers unfit for further use must be disposed.
Organizations that dispose of self-rescuers and neutralize oxygen-containing products must have:
– a properly issued license for the disposal and neutralization of an oxygen-containing product;
– official permission of the manufacturer;
– technological regulations approved by the manufacturer for the disposal and neutralization
of the oxygen-containing product.
Disposal process is following:
– Open self-rescuer.
– Manually activate the starter, wait for 2 min up to all oxygen is emited.
– Disconnect hose and breathing bag.
– Remove the cartridge from the casing.
– Place cartridge in clean water with tubes up and keep it there, shaking slightly until bubbles
stop to appear.
– Neutralize the alkaline solution produced with 3% acid, for example, hydrochloric acid (HCl).
– Sort out all the details and components by type of material (metal, plastic, resin, etc.) and
dispose of in accordance with the regulations applicable in your territory.
– Record the disposal in the self-rescuer register.
CAUTION!
Use safety glasses and gloves during disposal procedure.
CAUTION!
Oxygen self-rescuers are subjects to obligatory disposal, and they should not be thrown away or left
underground.
SCSRs, decommissioned for disposal shall be placed in special dry storing room and kept at
least 1 m away from heating devices. Avoid contacts of decommissioned SCSRs with water, oil
or organic liquids.
Storing room should be equipped with dry-powder fire extinguisher.
If a self-rescuer has mechanical damages as a result of a violation of safety rules (see the
«SAFETY PRECAUTIONS»section), you should immediately deliver the damaged self-rescuer to
the surface of the mine and immediately contact the manufacturer or official local representative
to obtain instructions for safe storage and recycling a self-rescuer. A self-rescuer that has received
mechanical damage must be issued an act indicating the number of the self-rescuer, the causes
of the damage and the persons responsible for violating the rules of safety rules.
CAUTION!
In the presence of organic pollutants (including fuels and lubricants) damaged self-rescuers, in which
the oxygen-containing product has direct contact with the air, may be spontaneously ignite. Such self-
rescuers should be placed in a designated safe place, where they will be stored, and then disposed of in
accordance with the instructions from the manufacturer or the ocial local representative.

MARKING AND SEALING
The self-rescuer is marked on the coupling straps, casing, lid, cover plate with the following
information:
Coupling straps:
- Inscription «Made in Turkey»;
- Product index «Ci-30 KS»;
- Article «S-30MP1» and configuration «-NSG», «-ISG», «-ISN»;
- Serial number in the format of SSSSS P MM YY, where:
- SSSSS – sequential serial number;
- Р – letter of producer: T – Turkey;
- MM YY – production date in the format of month-year;
- Trade mark;
- Weight «2,5 kg»;
- Rated duration «30 min»;
- Name of national standards and other information:
for EU and UK:
- «UKCA marking with Notified body number (2503)»;
- «EN 13794:2002», «CE 0477» - EC-type certification (CE mark), where «0477» – number
of Notified body for EU modification;
for India:
- «IS 15803:2008»;
- DGMS approval;
for Australia and New Zealand:
- Registration Number «MDR 166177 BA», inscription «Supplier: MineArc»;
Casing: «ANTISTATIK» sign, reflective labels;

Package marking includes:
- Handling signs «Handle with care, fragile», «This side up», «Protect from heat», «Keep dry»,
warning sign «Do not throw»;
- Main, additional and informational inscriptions.
Each SCSR is sealed by the manufacturer or an authorized service center. The seal contains
the trademark and should be kept intact during entire shelf life of self-rescuer. The seal can be
removed only while donning the self-rescuer.
STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION
Self-rescuers can be stored in lamp rooms at ambient temperature from +5 °C to +40 °C and up
to 100% relative humidity (at +25 °C).
Storage temperature in the original packaging of the manufacturer - from -5 °C to +40 °C.
Protect self-rescuers from direct sunlight exposure and keep at least 1 m away from heat sources.
Self-rescuers should be protected by transporting them in enclosed and dry vehicles of all
types at an ambient temperature between −40 °C to +50 °C and up to 100% relative humidity
(at +25 °C).

Oxygen self-rescuer Ci-30 KS must be transported (in packaging provided by the manufacturer only),
stored and used only according to this manual. Improper use of self-rescuer can lead to a serious injury
or death.
Any violations of this manual can cause failures in operation of SCSR, which can lead to a serious injury
or cause death.
WARRANTY
Original equipment manufacturer warranties appropriates performance characteristics
of SCSR while meeting of transportation, using and storing rules indicated
in this «User manual».
Warranty period is mentioned in the label that is supplied with each SCSR.
Warranty does not cover SCSR with damaged outer joints and case caused by violation of
conditions indicated in this «User manual».
Original equipment manufacturer and keeper of original design documentation reserves the right
to change design applied to SCSR for the purpose of improvement of technical and service
characteristics as well as service maintenance.

SCSR is supplied with the following configurations:
– Ci-30 KS S-30MP1-NSG: without moisture indicator and with goggles;
– Ci-30 KS S-30MP1-ISG: with moisture indicator and goggles.
