DECODER INSTALLATION GUIDE
ThankyouforpurchasingaTVIdecoder(TVID1000)unit.TheD1000isasinglechannelvideodecoderforthe
TVIvideosystem.EachdecoderwillconnecttoaTVIServeranddecodeavideostreamtoitscorrespondingTV
output.Additionallyeachunitofferstheabilityto:
•Specifyupto99streamsanduseaUSBkeyboardtoswitchbetweenthem.
•TakecontrolofanyPTZattachedcameraandsteerthecamerausingaUSBkeyboard.
Thisdocumentcoverstheoperationsandconfigurationofthedecoderunit.Itshouldbereadinconjunction
withtheTVIUserGuideandTVIAdministratorGuide,whichcoverthesoftwareaspectsofTVIoperation.The
decoderisdesignedtoworkincombinationwithaTVIServertodelivervideotoendusersanditwillnot
operatewithoutaTVIServerinplaceandtheappropriateencoderaccountandpermissionsdefined.Referto
theTVISystemAdministratorGuidefordetailsofhowtocreateandadministeraccounts.
Beforeproceedingwiththeinstallationandsetupofyourdecoderunit,pleaseensurethatyoucheckthe
packagecontentslistedbelow.






Installation


1. PluganetworkcablethatisconnectedtoyourLANintothedecoderunit(labelled‘A’indiagram).
2. Ifcompositevideooutputisrequired,attachtheHDMItocompositeconverter.UsetheUSBtoMiniB
cabletopowertheconvert(installintooneofthesocketslabelled‘B’andattachtotheconvertor
portlabelled‘B*’below)theninsertthemicroDisplayPorttoHDMIcable(intoportlabelled‘C’on
thedecodertoportlabelled‘C*’ontheconvertor).Alternatively,forHDoutput,connectthemicro
DisplayPorttoHDMIcabledirectlytoyourHDMIdevice.
3. Ifkeyboardcontrolisrequired,plugaUSBkeyboardintotheunit(useoneofthesocketsonUSB
connectorlabelled‘B’).
4. Onceyouhaveconnectedtheotherendsofyourcablesintotheappropriatedevicesyoushould
insertthekettlepowerleadintothedecoder.Nowpressthepowerswitchonthefrontpanelto
powerupthedecoder.



5. Ifrequiredthedecodercanbeconvertedforusewithinarackusingthesuppliedrackmountbracket.
UptothreeD1000decoderunitscanbemountedtothebracket.Eachunithastwoscrewholeson
thefrontpanelthatalignwiththebracket.





Configuring the Decoder Unit
ThedecoderisconfiguredusingtheConfigureDecoder.exeprogramonthesuppliedUSBFlashDrive.Insert
theUSBFlashDriveintoaWindowsPCandruntheConfigureDecoder.exeprogram.

SelecttheDecoderModel
ThisguideshowsthestepsrequiredtoconfigureaD1000.
SelecttheD1000fromtheavailabledecodermodels.

NetworkConfiguration
InmostcircumstancesthedefaultDHCPoptionissufficienthoweverifyouhavea
specialrequirementitispossibletoenteraStaticIPconfiguration.Onceyouhave
selectedtheappropriateoptionforyourrequirementhitthe‘Next’button.


ConfigureStreamstoView
Onthisnextpageyoucanenterthelistofstreamsyouwanttobeabletoselect
fromonthedecoderbox.

Eachentryisassignedanumberthatcorrespondstothesamenumberkeyonthe
USBkeyboard.Ifyouwanttoordertheentriesdifferentlyselecttheentryanduse
thetwomovebuttonsontherighttomovetheentriesupordowninthelist.

VideoOutputConfiguration
Nextyouwillbeaskedtoselectthevideooutputtypethattheencoderwilluse.
ThismodifiestheoutputtogivebetterresultswhenusingeithertheSD/Composite
orHD/DigitalVideooutput.
Onceyouhaveenteredthedesiredoutputtypeyoushouldhit‘Finish’.Thiswill
closethewizardandyoushouldfollowtheonscreeninstructionsonhowtoeject
theUSBFlashDrive.


Poweronthedecoderunitandallowittoboot(waituntilyouseethesplashscreen).InserttheUSBFlash
DriveintooneoftheUSBsocketsonthefrontoftheunit.Theunitwillreconfigureitselfand,ifsuccessful,
shouldnowbeshowingthefirststreamontheoutput.


Factory Reset
Thedecodercanberesettofactorydefaultsifrequired.ThesuppliedUSBflashdrivecontainsafoldercalled
‘FactoryReset’.Inthisfolderthereisafilecalled‘.FACTORY_RESET’whichshouldbecopiedtoablankUSB
FlashDriveandappliedtothedecoderinthesamewayasaconfiguration.Thedecoderwilldisplay
‘Reconfiguring’onscreenandwillthenremoveallconfigurationsettings.

TheUSBFlashDrivecannowberemoved.

Software Updates
Whensoftwareupdatesarereleasedforthedecoderthesewillcomeintheformof‘Decoder1.x.x.update’
files.ThesefilesshouldbecopiedtoablankUSBFlashDriveandappliedtothedecoderinthesamewayasa
configuration.Thedecoderwilldisplay‘Updating’onscreenandwilldisplayablackscreenforafewseconds
beforeshowingthesplashscreenloadingimageagain.Thedecoderwillnowbeusingtheupdatedsoftware
andwillstillhavethepreviousconfiguration.

TheUSBFlashDrivecannowberemoved.





