P/N 010001-0106 1221 Radio Transmitter Option, 132-174 MHz
The 1221 Radio Transmitter option operates with SYSTEM 3500 units only and operates as a
1221 radio transmitter. The 1221 Radio Transmitter option permits the user to program any
dialer, zone or box to transmit any desired box number to the Fire Department receiving system.
However, the Fire Department may have their receiving system set up to only process boxes in
their negative box stack. Be sure to provide the Fire Department with a list of all box numbers
and zones programmed into your unit. Only one box number is used for daily test. The Fire
Department’shardwareandsoftwaremustbeupgradedtopermitentryofalloftheboxnumber(s)
to decode, but not to expect a daily test from the ‘phantom boxes’. In other words, the SYSTEM
3500 may be programmed to send any desired box number via the @X command, but the
SYSTEM 3500 will only report one box number as the daily test.
The1221RadioTransmitter option consistsof: Software,configuratorcard (P/N450526-0001)

suffix. The protocol of the number must match the Fire Department’s receiving equipment
protocol. For example, if the Fire Department accepts the Digitize 99ZN format, and it uses
four-digitboxnumbers, then the boxnumberentered would be 123499. The1234is the box
number, the 99 indicates the daily test zone. Do not enter leading zeros. If the box number
is 123, simply enter 12399, even if with a four-digit box number system.
Use the numeric keys to change the box number value.

1.3.3 BOX DELAY
Press FUNC to move to the Box Delay (DLY =) field. The rotating message remains the
same. Use the arrow keys to change the box delay time.
When using the @X command to prompt an automatic retransmission, this variable
determines how long to delay the radio box before transmission. Select XX (no delay), or
select 01 to 60 seconds. For example, a 10-second delay for box 1234-56 entered at this
screen, together with an @X123456 command entered under user text, will delay the box
transmission 10 seconds. (User text message @ command must be entered without dashes.)
Two soft keys will pop up when the box is queued for transmission. One soft key will allow
immediatetransmission(TX Radio Box Now), whileanothersoft key will allow abortingof
thepending boxtransmission (AbortRadio Box). Thefollowing messagewillappearonthe
display, just above the soft keys:
Will auto TX at end of countdown
//pend box # 1234-56 ALM @ ??
Where ?? is a running countdown of the delay time.
Once the box number is transferred to the transmitter, it cannot be aborted. If more than one
box is queued up, the second box will have to wait until the first box is transmitted with a
variable two to 14-second delay between rounds and an FCC requirement of 60 seconds
between boxes. While the SYSTEM 3500 is delaying the box, the key click sound will
activate once per second. The pending box will transfer to the standby queue with a fixed
15-second delay prior to transmission, unless the box was manually entered. If the box was
manually entered, no delay will apply.
