1. General
1.1 Domaplasma®technology - VDE certified air purification
You have spent a lot of time and attention on the design and choice for your kitchen.
We are therefore delighted that you have chosen our Domaplasma® air purification
system.
Your decision shows that you find quality, functionality and energy efficiency just as
important as we do.
Domaplasma BV, specializing in air purifying solutions since over 10 years already, is the
developer and sole producer of the Domaplasma®air purifying system, specially
designed for in-house applications in recirculating cooker hoods.
The Domaplasma-IQS plasma filter achieved excellent results during the many tests that
were performed by the certifying body VDE. Also, the mandatory ozone-emission tests
(according to the norm IEC/DIN-EN 60335-2-65 Ed. 2.1–32) had very positive results.
Based on the above results the VDE rated the Domaplasma system as a secure and
functional solution to clean the in-house and kitchen air. Thus, Domaplasma received (as
the first company in this field) the VDE-certificate Nr. 40046744 (see the first 2 pages, as
well as the CB-certificate Nr. DE1-58593). You will find these pages enclosed in this
document.
Fact: the unique Domaplasma®low temperature plasma technology is extremely
effective, powerful, widely scalable, multipurpose and very energy efficient and therefore
your certified emission-free and safe ultimate solution for air purification!
What is plasma? The basis of the Domaplasma®process is similar to how
Mother Nature successfully purifies the global atmosphere.
By using high voltage energy, so-called “cold plasma” is created in which oxygen- and
water molecules become instable, thus resulting in the creation of e.g. singlet oxygen
and hydroxyl radicals (OH•).
The chemically extremely active hydroxyl radicals and the somewhat slower acting other
single radicals react, the very instant they are formed, with the gaseous organic odour
vapours flowing in between the Domaplasma®grids.
This chain reaction is a so-called “cold oxidation” process resulting, to a very high
percentage, into the oxidation products of the organic contents, as well as carbon dioxide
and water vapor as residues.

4
The Domaplasma®technology uses dielectrically buffered high voltage –at
approximately 2.5 to 2.8 kV - as an energy source (however with a significantly low total
energy consumption of below 10 Watts).
This high voltage is loaded onto uniquely designed, durable and carefully produced high
quality ceramic Domaplasma®electrodes in order to create a low temperature plasma
(whereas our nature applies sunlight - i.e. photons).
A variety of solutions, all powered by Domaplasma®, is available in several standard
models and capacities which all are, because of a unique internal pressure-sensor, fully
independent regarding the electronic controls of whatever brand of cooker hood to be
used with.
When suitable we can adapt shapes and capacities of the various Domaplasma®models,
depending on specific uses and amounts.

INSTALLATION POSITION
The Domaplasma®-IQS is equipped with three air outlets, these are the black areas on
the sides of the device. The Domaplasma®unit must always be installed:
a) in a horizontal position lying with the backside on the surface,
b) in a horizontal position with the backside attached to the ceiling or
c) in a vertical position hanging from the wall, backside attached.
NEVER install the device lying on its left/right side or hanging on its left/right side,
because the pressure-sensor cannot function properly in this manner and thus the device
will no longer be able to autonomously switch on and/or off.
NOTE ! ALWAYS start the cooker hood in the middle setting in order to
activate the catalyser, subsequently select the lower or higher setting you
wish to use.

2. Safety regulations
This device complies with current norms and safety regulations. Improper use may
cause damage to people and properties.
Please read these instructions carefully before use and installation. It contains important
information and tips regarding installation, safety and maintenance.
WARNING! It is strictly forbidden to use the cooker hood on which the
Domaplasma®-IQS is installed for extraction of chemical gases, fumes,
moisture, mists or other matters that normally do not exist in kitchen fumes.
The device cannot be used for any other application than domestic use.
Please NOTE! When the plasma filter is meant to be attached to a
downdraft system, do pay attention to the following: because of electrical
safety this downdraft system needs to have an internal collecting capacity of
at least 500 cm3 to contain fluids, in order to prevent any spilled fluid from
reaching the plasma filter!
2.1 Regulations for installation and use
•The Domaplasma®filter should only be used on cooker hoods in combination with
high quality metal grease filters on the hood, which are equipped with at least 8
layers wire mesh. If this is not the case, the supplied Hyabsorb®fine filter should
be cut to the size of the grease filters of the cooker hood and applied to the filters
using the supplied stainless-steel rods.
•The metal grease filters of the cooker hood must be cleaned at least every 2 to 3
weeks. Otherwise there is a risk that the metal grease filter and the Domaplasma®
filter “gather too much grease” on the interior and thereby reduce or cancel out
the efficiency of the Domaplasma®filter. NOTE! In case of major interior
“greasing” of the Domaplasma®filter, warranty is excluded.
•The metal grease filter must always be installed during operation of the cooker
hood with the Domaplasma®filter, otherwise grease accumulates in the cooker
hood, the Domaplasma®filter and in the air circulation system.
•Ensure that the Domaplasma®filter is connected to the outlet (dimensions 220 x
90 mm type Naber) of the ventilator of the cooker hood and is secured to the floor
or cabinet, using the supplied mounting devices.

9
•High voltage is used within the device for the generation of plasma. It is therefore
essential that the power plug is removed from the power connection during
installation or maintenance of the Domaplasma®filter.
•In the event of any damage, the device should not be used.
•The device is intended for use in domestic kitchens.
•Use only with the voltage as specified on the type plate.
•It is strictly forbidden to modify or convert the product.
2.2 Regulations for maintenance and cleaning
•During all maintenance and cleaning activities, the power plug must be removed
from the power connection or the (main) power switch of the specific connection
or the house must be turned off.
•Maintenance and cleaning the interior of the Domaplasma®filter must be carried
out by the producer, or any warranty or responsibility is invalidated.
2.3 Tips for achieving maximum efficiency deodorization
Smoke emission
•‘Smoke’ is generated by burned oil and/or fat particles, caused by (too) hot frying
oil/fat or singed meat. If the fat reaches too high temperatures or the baking
process takes too long, blue smoke or soot formation occurs. These particles are
so small that they get through all filtration systems. The formation of blue smoke
depends on the baking process, cooking with gas is hotter and partly for this
reason, this phenomenon manifests itself more quickly than for example with
induction cooking.
•Which type of recirculation cooker hood you choose, low-priced or expensive, the
phenomenon of smoke formation will always occur. Air circulation means nothing
other than air aspiration and blowing the air out in the same room.
•The solution should be found in the baking process. By not allowing products to
burn and in addition mechanically ventilate to gradually discharge smoke particles.
•Always start the cooker hood in the middle setting in order to activate the
catalyser, subsequently select the lower or higher setting you wish to use.

10
•To achieve maximum efficiency deodorization (>90%) it is necessary that all
baking and cooking vapours are directed to the cooker hood and that the air
aspiration is not interrupted by any other (turbulent) airflows under the hood; out
of experience is derived that turbulence is often caused by air coming from the
circulation outlet of the cooker hood when placed too close to kitchen cabinets,
doors and walls or opened windows.
•If the cooking vapours are not (or partially) directed into the cooker hood, the
attached Domaplasma air purification technology cannot contribute to the
achievement of maximum efficiency deodorization. A part of the cooking vapours
remains in the kitchen or adjoining rooms until they reach the cooker hood again
or are ventilated through additional (mechanical) ventilation.
•If the cooking vapours can reach the cooker hood when using the middle setting
of the hood (i.e. a lower position), then do not use a higher setting. The longer
the cooking vapour stays in the plasma environment, the better the deodorization.
If the metal grease filters (in combination with the black fine filters) are not
cleaned regularly, the Domaplasma air purification technology will get filthy faster
and lose its effectiveness in the long run.
•Install the supplied Hyabsorb®filter on the metal grease filter of the cooker hood.
By cleaning this filter regularly, internal “greasing” of the Domaplasma® filter is
prevented.
•If you bake more than you cook during a certain period (thus with relatively
insufficient moisture development), it is wise to regularly cook an extra pan with
water during or directly after cooking, so the system can clean itself internally.
The higher the humidity during the cooking process, the better the plasma
effectiveness and deodorization.
•Always keep the cooker hood running in the lowest setting, depending on the
model the cooker hood will often turn itself off; if not, leave running for
approximately 20 minutes after cooking before switching off. Longer is not
necessary. In combination with a possibly installed mechanical ventilation, which
ensures 24h/7 that moisture and residual odours are removed, you will achieve
the maximum efficiency deodorization.
•The next time you use the cooker hood, the Domaplasma®process requires some
minutes to start. You might smell some remaining odours at first, but these start-
up odours disappear once the filter has started.

11
3. Installation
The Domaplasma®filter is designed for installation on or next to a cooker hood or
downdraft, either with an outlet dimension of 220 x 90 mm (Naber type), or by use of a
suitable transition piece of 220 x 90 mm.
The Domaplasma®filter can be directly or indirectly installed on the outlet of the cooker
hood of downdraft.
Dimensions of the Domaplasma®-filter
The air outlets are located on the three black sides of the Domaplasma®filter.
Ensure that those three sides are not placed against the wall or ceiling or
cabinet when installing the Domaplasma®filter.
The black areas serve as air outlets. The backside, which contains no black air outlet, is
meant to be placed against the wall or ceiling. The Domaplasma®unit must always be
installed:
a) in a horizontal position lying with the backside on the surface,
b) in a horizontal position with the backside attached to the ceiling or
c) in a vertical position hanging from the wall, backside attached.

12
3.1 Installation instructions
1. Ensure that the outlet manifold of the cooker hood or downdraft has a direct or
indirect cross-section of 220 x 90 mm (preferably type NABER).
2. Ensure that the space around the three black air outlets is at least 25 mm wider than
the Domaplasma®filter. The inside height of the plinth has to be at least 100 mm.
The backside of the Domaplasma® filter is meant to be attached directly to the wall,
the ceiling or the surface, as no air is vented here. The upper side should be installed
so that it remains accessible for service operations.
3. The plinths must be equipped with sufficient air vents preferably > 600 cm2(800 cm2
for type 850) of free outlet openings, so that the air can recirculate freely.
4. Place the Domaplasma®filter directly or indirectly on the outlet manifold of the
cooker hood or downdraft.
The Domaplasma®filter is now properly installed on or to the cooker hood.
5. Take the supplied power cable and connect it to the C14 connection of the
Domaplasma®filter. Connect both the plug of the Domaplasma®filter and the plug of
the cooker hood to the power connection(s).
3.2 Electrical connection
Check before plugging into the electrical connection whether the data on the type plate
and the local power supply correspond.
The type plate is placed next to the C14 power connection of the Domaplasma®filter.
The Domaplasma®filter is always provided with a C13 cable and a grounded plug. These
can be connected to any secured and grounded power point of 220 - 240 Volt, 50 Hz.
The power connection should preferably be positioned near the cooker hood so that it
might not directly accessible/visible.
Because in this way the power connection might no longer be accessible after the
installation, it is necessary to be able to switch off the power circuit to which the cooker
hood and Domaplasma®filter are connected, before maintenance.

13
3.3 Metal grease filter
In order to achieve effective air purification, it is necessary to clean the metal grease
filter (aluminium or stainless-steel grease filter) regularly - preferably every 2 to 3 weeks.
Otherwise there is a risk that the grease filter and the Domaplasma®filter “grease”,
whereby the efficiency of the Domaplasma®filter is reduced or cancelled out.
In case “greasing” is detected, any warranty regarding the Domaplasma®
filter is strictly excluded.
For this reason, the Domaplasma®filter can only be used on cooker hoods in
combination with high quality metal grease filters in the hood, which are equipped with
at least 8 layers wire mesh. If this is not the case, the supplied Hyabsorb®fine filter
must be applied to the metal grease filters of the cooker hood.
The properly installed Hyabsorb®filter can, still attached to the metal grease filters, be
cleaned in the dishwasher at 55 to 60°C.
3.4 Installation of Hyabsorb®filters
1. Take the metal grease filter(s) from the cooker hood before placing the Hyabsorb®
fine filters on the grease filter(s). First measure the inside dimensions of each grease
filter (fig. 2). When measuring each side (length and width), the measurement starts
on the inside of the framework and ends on the outside of the framework (fig. 2).
Fig. 1: Fig. 2: Measuring Fig. 3:
2. Take the supplied Hyabsorb®filter sleeve, place it on a flat surface and cut out the
measured size.

14
3. Take the piece of Hyabsorb®fine filter and place it onto the metal grease filter of the
cooker hood (fig. 5).
Fig. 4: Fig. 5:
4. Take the supplied stainless-steel mounting rods and place them on the metal grease
filter. Place at least three rods horizontal and two rods vertical, attaching the
Hyabsorb®fine filter to the metal grease filter. Measure again per side (length and
width) for this purpose, starting on the inside of the metal grease filter framework
and ending on the outside and cut the rods on the correct length.
Fig. 6: Fig. 7:
5. When the mounting rods are cut to the correct length, take a thin screwdriver and
make small openings on the inside of the aluminium framework, which can later be
used to insert the rods. These will keep the Hyabsorb®fine filter in place. Ensure that
the openings are made exactly opposite - equidistant from the outer edges. Insert the
mounting rods, as soon as at least four slots for the vertical rods and six openings for
the horizontal rods are made (Fig. 8 - 11).

15
Fig. 8: Fig. 9:
Fig. 10: Fig. 11:
6. Take the Hyabsorb®fine filter and place it onto the metal grease filter. Place
sequentially each mounting rod, beginning with the vertical rods, in the slots.
Fig. 12: Fig. 13: Fig. 14:
The Hyabsorb®fine filter is now installed on the metal grease filter and ready for use.
Repeat the above procedure for the remaining metal grease filters (if appropriate) and
place them back in the cooker hood.
The Domaplasma® filter is now ready for use.

16
Watch out! When cleaning the metal grease filter, ensure that the metal grids do
not get damaged. Frequent cleaning or the use of aggressive detergents can change the
colour of the metal surface of the metal grease filter or of Hyabsorb®fine filter. This
does not affect the efficacy of the filter function and is no reason for complaints.
The metal grease filter can be cleaned in the dishwasher at 55 to 60°C with the
Hyabsorb®filter still attached. Let the filter dry overnight and place back, placing back
can be done while the filter is still slightly moist.
