Maintenance
Charger
The charger is a sealed unit. It should not be tampered with nor cables or plugs
changed.
It must be used in a safe well ventilated area, protected from heat and damp out of
reach of children and away from flammable or explosive materials.
Liquids or metal objects must not be put into the charger.
Charging
First connect the charger lead to the battery. Then plug into the wall socket and
switch on.
The LED on the charger will glow RED to show charging; It will show BLUE when
charging is complete.
Monitor the charger from time to time and promptly turn off when the blue light
shows.
Disconnect the battery first, then the wall socket.
Normal charging is 3-6 hours; never leave the charge on longer than 10 hours.
If the charger overheats or smells hot, stop charging.
Motor and Controller
Protect the exposed wiring to avoid damage which could result in a short circuit.
Avoid exposing the controller to damp while washing and do not immerse the
motor.

Set-up and Adjustment
Pedals
Pedal are stamped (L)eft or (R)ight on the ends.
Install correctly, noting that the left hand has a left hand thread.
Chain Tension
The rear wheel will be set before delivery to give the correct tension. In the event
that the hub has moved it should be set by a person with experience of Deraileur
gears.
Wheels
Check that the tyre is central in the forks. Check tightness of hub nuts to these
figures.
Front wheel – minimum 18Nm; Rear wheel – minimum 30Nm
Head tube and Saddle Tube
Adjust for height. The maximum safe height is indicated by a safety line which
must not be exposed.
Quick release accessories
The locking force required is between 15-17kgf.
Lubrication
Chain and crank should be lubricated with spray lubricant.
The headset should be given a few drops of oil monthly.
Brakes
Inspect all brake blocks regularly and replace early. If metal parts come into
contact with the aluminium rim replacement will be needed.
Battery
The battery is a new generation Li-ion battery, amazingly powerful and light. For
best life, always charge the battery with the supplied charger which continuously
controls the charge rate according to temperature.
Charge the battery before first use; the performance will improve after a few
recharges.
With regular charging, the battery is good for better than 1,000 cycles.
Performance will be reduced by low temperature; as much as 30% will be lost at
temperatures below 0oc, which will be recovered on warming.
The battery should be part charged monthly, or the warranty will be invalidated.
(Even if it means going out in the cold and wet) Avoid dropping the battery and
protect it from impact. Keep the battery away from heat, direct sunlight and damp.
Protect the charging port with the rubber bung supplied to avoid ingress of
moisture or dirt.
As the battery contains flammable materials it must be taken to a recycling site for
correct disposal. Under no circumstances should the battery be put into a fire.
For charging guidelines see page 9.

Introduction
Please spare a few minutes to become familiar with this manual.
It will help you to get the best from the excellent Durabike. Retain the manual in
case you wish to lend the bike or pass it on, or even need to refresh your memory
of some detail.
The Durabike is fine in rain or snow. It is not amphibious and immersion in water
would short out the motor and invalidate the warranty. Do not overload the
Durabike (max 90kg) and remember that a fully loaded bike will be less responsive
in braking or steering.
When the bike is not in use, always turn off the motor and remove the key.
To prevent serious damage to the motor and controller do not ride without the
battery in place, particularly downhill.
