This manual is written specifically for Dyson trained engineers and covers the full TP04 and
DP04 range. The service instructions assume that the engineer has the approved tools and
test equipment with them.

Sealed filtration - removes gases and particles
The fully - sealed filter system combines an activated carbon filter to remove
gases, and a Glass HEPA filter that captures 99.97% of microscopic allergens
and pollutants as small as 0.3 microns.
Draft-free diffused mode
New side vent to diffuse purified air,
creating circulation with no draft.
Forward airflow mode
Purifies and cools you.
Backward airflow mode
Purifies without cooling you.

Ensure that at all times during the repair and testing of products
that customers, pets, children and you are not exposed to any
Live electrical supply.
Insulation test
The following tests must be performed prior
to and upon completion of all repairs to
Dyson floorcare products and before any
functional checks.
You must ensure that a full visual inspection
of the product is completed prior to repair.
Test results
An insulation test reading of >2 MW
is acceptable.
A reading of below 2 MWis considered
unsafe and further investigation,
rectification and testing must be completed
before the product is used. The following
components must be visually inspected.
• Dust sensor loom and AMP assembly
loom.
The socket and see PDIT 360
(or equivalent) should be used to test
the electrical insulation of a Class 11
appliance; it indicates any electrical
leakage.
Insulation test points:
Test directly onto the four T-10 screws in the
Main body.
Note: the filters will need to be removed to
gain access to the screws.
These tests are vital to avoid any possibility
of personal injury to the end user.
If you cannot repair a product with an
insulation test reading of below 2MWyou
must inform the customer that the product is
unsafe to use.
Please inform the customer of the required
actions to repair the product (including the
charge structure).
If the product is left un-repaired please
indicate on your paperwork/hand held
device that the product is electrically
unsafe and attach a ‘WARNING’: product
electrically unsafe’ sticker in
a visible location on the product.

AQ displays during calibration
When the product is new, the AQ sensors begin calibrating. This 1 hour process will affect
the VOC & NO2readings for the entire 1 hour duration. During this period the product will
show PM2.5/PM10 data after a few seconds of turning on. The following screens will be
displayed.
After the initial one hour calibration, it will take up to 20 minutes to calibrate the VOC and
NO2sensors each time a product has been switched off at the wall or unplugged.
During this period the following screens will be displayed.
After each calibration period the screens will now show readings as below.
Prior to carrying out any repairs that are associated to fauly air quality readings, it is
important to determine whether the product has a genuine fault or is simply calibrating.

Accessing the diagnostic menu
Diagnostic menu
Built into DP04 and TP04’s software there is an engineers diagnostic menu designed to
enable the repair agent a quick diagnosis of the machines failure.
The menu is accessed by pressing a sequence of buttons via a standard remote control.
Once you have finished accssing the engineering menu, press any button on the remote
except the ‘i’ button to exit the diagnostic menu.
If the engineering screen does not appear press any button to reset and start again.
Repeat all steps ensuring the flow button is pressed between 11 and 13 seconds detailed in
step 3.

Diagnostic table
Further information to the above table, the LCD display may show the screens below to
help you diagnose the products fault.
These screens are displayed without having to go into the engineering screen.
Faults codes will be displayed as per the following format: 00X-0X-0X-X.
In most cases it is only necessary to recognise the first three digits to determine the fault.

Disconnect the machine from the electrical outlet at all times
during repair and test. Failure to do so could result in electric
shock or personal injury.
Recommended tools to repair DP04 and TP04:
Torx T-15 screwdriver (magnetic if possible)
Torx T-10 screwdriver (magnetic if possible)
Torx T-8 screwdriver (magnetic if possible)
Thin flat bladed screwdriver
Long nosed pliers
Wire colours may vary between territories.
All screws used in DP04 and TP04 are Torx unless otherwise stated.
Where this symbol is shown ensure ESD
(Electro Static Discharge) protection is used.

General information
Ensure that at all times during the repair and testing of products
that customers, pets, children and you are not exposed to any
Live electrical supply.

Some female terminal clips used in DP04 and TP04 contain a
locking mechanism. The release pip will need to be activated
before separation from the male terminal can occur.
Important: this product contains a WiFi PCB that stores critical data.
If a WiFi PCB requires replacement the data will require reinstalling following the repair.
The necessary equipment is not currently available, therefore any machines requiring a WiFi
PCB replacement cannot be repaired until further notice.
A further issue of this manual will be released providing full instructions of the procedure
when the equipment becomes available.
It is a mandatory requirement that when handling any
product during any repair or refurbishment process that
the following equipment is worn:
• FPP3 particle filter Face mask
• Safety gloves
• Safety glasses
• Safety shoes
