e-pill®MedTime SAFE Automatic Pill Dispenser
with Multiple Locks (4 independent locks)
Thank you for buying an e-pill Medication Reminder. Your new e-pill MedTime SAFE
Automatic Pill Dispenser with Multiple Locks SKU 998034 is designed to remind and
alert you in times of taking your medication and dispensing your pills (pain, psych, anti-
anxiety, sleeping, methadone, buprenorphine/naloxone)and/or other medications at the
scheduled interval required from one (1) to six (6) times per day. This locked e-pill
device may be used in the patient’s home, drug treatment clinic or in an institution.
Your new e-pill MedTime SAFE Automatic Pill Dispenser consists of five (5) main parts
(see next page):
Locked Electronic Automatic Pill Dispenser with dosing templates, and
prescription card (can dispense pills six times per day, 2 keys included).
Locked Tamperproof Aluminum Case and Lid with Key Lock (2 keys included).
Padlock that locks the pill dispenser in the Aluminum Case (2 keys included)
Location Lock that allows you to lock your pill dispenser to a certain location (2
keys included)
To remove the pill dispenser from the
Aluminum Case, unlock the lid by
turning the key to the left (¼ turn
counterclockwise). Once it has been
unlocked turn the Aluminum Lid to the
left and remove it from the base. Remove
the pill dispenser and unlock the pill
dispenser. Key hole is located under pill
opening.
Inside the e-pill automatic pill dispenser
you will find the medication tray, an LCD
display and the electronic controls.
The medication tray holds 28 medication-dispensing slots. You may purchase additional
trays if needed. In some circumstances, the tray may be filled by the local pharmacy
(check with your pharmacist). You may choose to secure the e-pill MedTime SAFE to a
certain location (kitchen, bedroom, pipe, head post, etc) by using the included Location
Lock.

Padlock, Location Lock, and two sets of Keys.

We strongly recommend that you always keep your e-pill MedTime SAFE
locked. A total of 8 keys are included for the four different locks.
Please note there are No Key Overrides or Duplicate Keys
available. Make sure you do not lose your keys.
2 keys for the e-pill MedTime SAFE Aluminum Case Lid.
2 keys for the e-pill MedTime SAFE Automatic Pill Dispenser.
2 keys for the Padlock.
2 keys for the Location Lock.
The first set of keys is for the Caregiver. The second set of keys should be kept as a
Backup.
In a home setting, you may choose to hide the second set of keys in order for it to be
retrieved in an emergency or place them in a separate safe off-site.
Note: The Padlock and Location Lock can be replaced with your own locks. You may use
any standard Padlock or Kensington slot type location lock.

Using your e-pill MedTime SAFE for the first time
1. Using Aluminum Lid key, insert key into Aluminum Lid lock and turn key
counterclockwise to unlock the lid from the base.
2. Turn Aluminum Lid to the left and lift up.

3. Remove the Automatic Pill Dispenser from case and turn it upside down.
4. Remove the Battery Door (see picture)
5. Insert the 4 x AA batteries included (see below / note orientation) to power on
your e-pill MedTime SAFE Automatic Pill Dispenser.
6. Close the Battery Door.

7. Turn the automatic pill dispenser right side up. Open the automatic pill dispenser
lid (as illustrated below) to access the medication tray and the controls to setup
your e-pill Automatic Pill Dispenser:
Press gently with your thumb on the front tab, and then lift.

Organizing medication correctly, assigning dose times and determining what medications go
into each slot is the responsibility of you, your caregiver, and/or your health care provider.
Loading of Medications
Select the right Dosage Template (1 to 6X daily) based
on the patient’s dosing requirement. Secure the Dosage
Template on the Medication Tray by folding four tabs
down. Using the template as a guide, place pills in
correct dosages in each compartment. Please make sure
that the number of alarms set (one up to a maximum of
six alarms) equals the dosage template chosen.
Note: The Tray Rotates Clockwise.
Fill compartments with pills using the dosage template
as a guide (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 Dispensing Events per
day).
For example: if the patient takes meds 2 x per day
(morning and night) and you are loading the tray after
the morning dose.
The sequence should be (counter clock-wise): night –
morning –night –morning –night –morning –night
…… - morning (last one).
The first dose scheduled to be dispensed, after the
e-pill MedTime SAFE is filled and programmed, is
placed to the right of the lid opening. This dose of
medications will be made available to the patient, when
the next medication event (alarm) is scheduled.
When the lid is closed an empty compartment should be
seen in the opening (last dose taken by the patient,
which should be empty).
Medication Tray Frequency
1 medication time per day –refill tray every 28 days (= 4 weeks)
2 medication times per day –refill tray every 14 days (= 2 weeks)
3 medication times per day –refill tray every 9 days
4 medication times per day –refill tray every 7 days (= fill weekly)
5 medication times per day- refill tray every 5 days.
6 medication times per day- refill tray every 4 days.

Setting of Clock and Alarm Times
(Instructions are also available on the key tag)
AM/PM or 24-Hour Time (military time) Formats
Your e-pill MedTime SAFE automatic pill dispenser automatically defaults to a 24-
hour time format. To switch to a 12-hour format, press buttons 2 and 3 simultaneously.
The AM or PM symbol will appear on the right side of the display when the clock is in
the 12-hour time format. Release the buttons when the desired time format is displayed.
CLOCK - Setting the Clock (current time)
1. Press and Hold button 1 for a few seconds (until the symbol “:” blinks located
between Hours and Minutes) and then release.
2. Set the correct time by pressing buttons 2 (Hours) and 3 (Minutes).
3. Store clock time by Pressing Button 1 and symbol “:” stops blinking.
If buttons 2 or 3 are held/depressed, the time display progresses automatically. If one lets
the display continue to blink in the setting mode it will automatically return to normal
function after approximately one minute. AM and PM indicators is located on the right
side.
ALARMS - Setting and Checking the Alarm Times
*The numbers of alarms you have programmed are visible on the left side of the display.
1. Press button 1 and then release. The Alarm 1 symbol will begin to blink. To set alarm
time # 1; press Button 2 (Hours) and Button 3 (Minutes). If you wish to cancel the
alarm, press button 2 until --: -- is displayed, which occurs after 23:00 or 11:00 p.m.
2. After you have programmed the correct alarm time, press button 1 again to store the
alarm time and to advance to the next Alarm setting.
To set alarms 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 follow the same steps above.
3. End by pressing and holding Button 1 (once all alarms have been set).

Alarm Tone(s) –Select Alarm Tone (or Silence)
Your e-pill MedTime SAFE automatic pill dispenser has three (3) different alarm tones
and also silence (no alarm tone) to accommodate different hearing levels. Symbols A, B
and A+B on the display will indicate the selected alarm tone. If you have selected
"silence" (no alarm time), then neither A nor B appears on the display. The blinking light
will always be turned on when it is time for the patient to take her/his medications.
To change the alarm tone, first hold button 3 and then, at the same time press and hold 1
to choose the next alarm tone. Continue to hold button 3 and press button 1 to listen to
and select the different tones.
